- A crafty game of cat and mouse between Geoff Raicer's '95 Honda Civic and Matt Moreland's '89 Mazda RX7. The ending will be surprising.
PINKS the stakes are high the cars are fast and the drivers are intense. Street racers put their money where their mouths are. It's the best two out of three and the winner takes the loser's Pinks Slip. There are no setups, no retakes... Just everyday people trying to keep their cars and their dignity.

More like they didnt have enough people willing to risk their cars. Thats why they went to the "Pinks All Out" model. But the lack of high stakes in someone loosing a car led to them losing viewers.

Disagree. Rich and his attitude turned off the show. He just had a total dbag vibe and it ruined the moments. Not to mention his 2 cents usually were just stupid.

For the last two races the civic was running NA. Geoff from Full Race posted about it on forums when it happened and they went through a TON of stuff and decided to swap turbos to much smaller then busted an intercooler coupling during the races. They also put a fake nitrous setup on to mess with them lol

NA is naturally aspirated. Turbos/super chargers are forced induction. No one is going to the track and removing their turbos to run NA 😂😂😂

I've always wondered about that. It did seem so slow for a D16 at 30psi. No boost makes sense tho.
Do you have any idea how much noise a turbo with a blown coupler makes. That’s nonsense, you would’ve heard the turbo screaming over everything.
Would be nice to see a similar show like this come back since technology and cars and all has came a long way since this show came out but definitely needs more rules and hopefully a better host and etc. Doubt it would ever happen though.
Imagine a updated show in 2023 that would be some content right there.

because sand bagging is such a huge problem they should mount camera to watch their feet and see if anyones letting off or tap oscillioscope into tps signal wire so if he lets off the throttle we see a voltage change, this will at least deter sandbagging

@@miaquain you can measure throttle position areas that is transmitted by the sensor. Not sure if it would be that accurate down to the absolute value with these cars tho, newers one or those with by wire throttle, yeah.

If they had current technology and could pull up datalogs to see what the throttle percentage is at until after finish line. They would know if they were letting out or changing boost or tunes

I always wondered that. Show could have probably lasted a long time if they had just put a camera on the foot
I believe that lifting or not lifting is part of the game. If they really want equal cars, one of the shows staff would run the cars, all out, before filming, and compare times.
@@papabull8993 a good driver can hide and not race the full potential of the car...deff after feel out/practice runs beforehand. If a camera was on them the whole time it would get spotted....of course in real street racing, sht like that goes on, so I guess they wanted that legit-ness than make it fair...lol
They can tell if they lift by listening on track. The rx7 pulled off the sandbag with their bad early launches. They probably turned up the psi with a hidden boost controller. Happens all the time.

I always thought is was hilarious that the Hondas would make so little torque they could just bounce it off the rev limiter and dump the clutch and barely break the tires loose, thats how they staged lol. I know things have changed but back in the early 2000s ever guy with a 5 speed Honda thought he was Paul Walker
T1 Tony, Full Race Geoff, Headgames Dave... Some of the fastest guys in the game still. Good throw back.
Ironically enough i was just thinking about Geoff. So I decided to see if I can dig up the old episode of PINKS... I miss the days running into Geoff at Etown raceway park... When turbo hondas were in their infancy stage... And Tony P would come to Jersey with the red integra and break all sorts of records. Glad to see Tony is doing well with T1 Race Development. I know Full Race is still in operation. But I haven't seen Geoff out in public for years now. I hope he's doing well! I hope he's still the big man in charge with FR!

The full race pink car boost pipe blew off at the end of the 2nd race. The nitrous was never hooked up. It was there for negotiations.

If they ever bring a show like this back, they need to put a throttle sensor on both cars to see if people are sand bagging. It’s so annoying to see someone lose their car all cause people wanna play games like that.
I get that it’s part of the shows drama factor but its also a really messed up way to screw someone out of their car and a car is not a cheap item, especially if someone’s poured tones of money in the car itself.

@@lifeofmike5126yeah and it's known most people didnt lose their cars, for example the race of the green mustang Foxbody vs the white catfish Camaro both cars were having issues with the headgaskets,cooling hoses and losing oil pressure both owners did agreed to set time to fix their cars but rich the host, seemed to want to start a fight between the 2 teams, and when both cars broke again the host didnt allow any of the 2 times to fix their cars, the green mustang won but the team's owner, decided to give back the Camaro to the other team after the program because he said Rich was being unffair with both teams, they just wanted to fix their cars for a clean headstart.
Another guy named Cassidy who raced with an MK3 supra turbo, gave back the 69 Chevelle to the rival team because, it was said the father of the driver spent 20 years prepping the car and Mr Cassidy,thought taking a car from someone who spent 20 years prepping it, was unffair.

The RX7 put out BS argumens like "It's just a 1.3!" A 1.3 *rotary* is equivalent to a 2.6l piston engine. But they were just fucking with the people that don't know, lol. The rotary basically have a whole liter of displacement advantage over the 1.6l piston Honda so even with Nitrous, the Honda was screwed, lol.

I'm honestly a bit confused about the fake nitrous strategy. I think it was to make them look a lot slower than normal to get handicap advantages, but they ended up screwed and the opponent got all the advantages, lol.
@@SI0AX well i mean its a single cam d series which is really slow even boosted. b series or k series would smoke them (stock boosted d series) in stock NA form.
@@Ehren1337 D series are not as bad as you think. Sure the B series has been proven to do 500 WHP stock block, just lower compression pistons, but there are drag cars with modified D engines make 1000 WHP with stock sleeves.

the reveal at the end that the nitrous was fake is so funny to me. like why? I get this whole show is just drag racers trying to hustle each other but like why try and make your car look faster than it is? I think they kinda played themselves ngl. the 5D chess move didn't work.

That little civic was choked up on the single cam head or running really soft timing. The only reason they're claiming 30psi is because it very well could be seeing 30psi of manifold pressure, but that charge can't get into the combustion chamber fast enough. Definitely seemed like something was up with it or its running a stock cam in a stock or mildly ported head and can't do anything.

I just watched 2 straight race episode that a Honda Civic lost to a Drag Race, that's a bjt of a shock for me but I think those custom builds lacks something and maybe just the way the car is driven. Not to mention correct gear shifting

I don't know if I been under a rock last few years, or if this is unique to the "Pinks" show but I have NEVER seen this kind of "Negotiations" after every single run... Like obviously if you keep trying different things until one car is faster then another, then any car can win regardless of the setup, power, or driver skill... Its a competition of which team can predict ETAs of different combinations/variables, not Which car/driver is faster.... I'm surprised the Honda didn't money shift it in the last round...🤣
not sure how old you are, but you must have not grown up during the street racing days, you're never going to know how much power the other guy has so it's usually best out of 3. with negotiations after the first race. there's not classes like sanctioned racing where those cars are pretty much even in weight and power that's why those are head to head and best driver wins.

I met the guys that owned the Rx-7 at a rotary car car show called seven stock, they had a booth there. I asked them about this episode and the guys said that the nitrous bottle wasn't empty lol

Notice how neither driver had their helmet fully secure. Safety should be a little more looked at if this show ever comes back on 👍
This is not real drag racing 1320 videos and NHRA does zero negotiating it's always 100% a heads up race with each car doing 1 solid burnout. Any jumping the line is an instant loss. That's the only real drag race that comes with what you got and either win or loose heads up. That's real drag racing

No it don't. Not even turbo 4 cylinders make that from factory. You mean v8s 400hp are not impressive anymore
@@hugecreature3810 Modern 4 cylinders are making like 350 CHP and can easily be tuned to 400+ WHP and be reliable. The NA V8's with 400 HP are nothing special, but they are pretty long lasting engines with 300k mile capability unlike the turbo 4 cylinders.

@@mryang3644 There are record 1000 WHP SOHC Honda's, it's all about the build and tune. I think the 1000 WHP SOHC engine was even stock block, just some dumb block girdle thing which is pretty insane. There was a video, not sure if it was sleeved, I think it wasn't and was doing 1000 WHP on single cam 1.6 that was over bored to some number I don't remember.

for me, a race is a race. if the other team didn't bring nitro, or slicks, thats on them. Thats their fault. Civic should let the beast loose.
a rwd complaining that a fwd is running slicks and a 1.3 rotary complaining that 1.6 is bigger. those civic guys were pretty bad negotiators. they should have won the 4th race but instead just handed it over.

When this episode came out I was a few years out of high school and had a civic EG hatch that I just did a b18 swap in and a 40 shot of nos that I swear would smoke both of these turbo cars. Crazy how far turbo technology and tuning has come in these years.

People wonder why this show ended, this episode is a prime example of why. More people lost cars on this show due to sandbagging and cheating then actually racing. The white rx7 acting like hypocrites saying the other team was sandbagging when there the true sand baggers. Like why still sand bag when you’re down 2 races lol but they’re from California so explains there IQ level. The concept of the show was interesting racing for cars, just the lack of actual “racing” instead of sandbagging central and everything else is what killed the show

Nah.. I think they turned the boost down all the way to gate pressure and added boost with every run. If you look at the beginning when they were showing the cars, you would see that turbosmart electronic boost controller on the dash on the left side of the steering wheel.

Honda team was out negotiated, a bad first race got the Mazda team no bottle. I would have said fuck that we are keeping the bottle and stood hard on no more than 4 lengths. Mazda team would have been forced to run their car on the second race and it wouldn't have been race 4 before we knew what the Mazda could do.
