      hey I really like your content here, especially that you have 120k on the supercharged BRZ. I'm looking at selling my VW ALLTRACK APR for something a little more enjoyable. I came off of a TDI and before that a series of STI/WRX/s2k. I find the VW to feel very dead and lifeless, and even though very fast with just software, I am old now and don't really use it.

      Thank you for checking out the video! Sorry for the late response, RUclips alert thing is not very good..
      I am now driving an AP2 S2000, as I think this is more of the car I wanted (although I am now having to prep the car heavily to pass safety requirements for track days). What kind of "fun" are you looking for? If it's the old school feel from hydraulic steering and instant throttle response, I think it's hard to beat the E46 M3..

      The vehicle was engineered to be driven hard. Even top gear, professional drivers have stated this is one of the best handling cars you can buy besides a lotus or venturing into the realm of 6 figures. Subaru/Toyota just release info on the 2021 brz/86 & said adding forced induction would add more weight further degrading the vehicles driving dynamics. I have driven them before there is no reason the average person needs forced induction besides going straight.

    Did you do any other work to the car to help support the supercharger? Or did you just install it. I'm thinking of getting a turbo for mine, but don't wanna take the jump because I'm afraid I might also have to uprage my clutch and fuel injectors, and I just dont have the money for all that atm.

    • @REVlogue
      @REVlogue  4 года назад +3

      Due to torque rating, I believe the base Jackson kit was right at the limit of the stock clutch. I'd assume with turbo you're probably better off upgrading. My biggest concern was heat management as these cars already run pretty hot, but thankfully the Jackson kit comes with the Setrab oil cooler, and it's designed to work with the whole kit from scratch. I left some overhead and was thinking eventually I'd upgrade to the bigger supercharger (and at that point I'd need bigger injectors and the whole nine yards) but I never felt like I needed more power :)

    • @REVlogue
      @REVlogue  4 года назад +1

      I do like the American grunt. I'm kind of poor though, so consumables like tires and brakes go faster on the bigger/heavier cars on the track unfortunately, which would kill the deal for me. If I had it all my way, a split window Corvette would be on the driveway as a choice of a muscle car for me :)

    • @REVlogue
      @REVlogue  4 года назад +3

      Response? Nope. But you get way more top end, it's almost night and day in my opinion. Also, for me personally, I felt like the twinscrew set up was really heavy, like I could feel it when driving the car, but the Jackson set up was not that noticable (smaller package, air cooled vs water cooled, etc).
      Id say if you want response and the top end (and you don't feel like you're lugging a lot of weight with the twinscrew set up), I'd go with the Edelbrock kit.

    • @REVlogue
      @REVlogue  4 года назад +1

      It's rly strange because I didn't have issues with my original motor. I did replace it with a 2015 engine with 1000 miles, and it had cam gear issues so I had to get that fixed to get rid of rough idle (car would shake real bad during idle and even stall at times) and it had a weird leak that I had to wipe up every so often (didn't see a massive oil consumption or anything like that but a definite leak from somewhere). I did drive on the track here and there so obviously it saw more abuse than an usual BRZ/FRS, but yes, it does seem to have some issues. Check out the links in my description.

      He mentioned it for tall drivers. I think he doesn't comfortable fit in a Miata which is why he didn't get it in spite of him having loved the car when he drove it before. And the forced induction is the solution to the power because most turbo cars get engine problems after 100,000 miles and his is fine after 120,000. Seems reliable enough to be.

      @@oman350 He has a supercharger kit. It's still forced induction but I'm guessing it puts less heat on the engine, not sure, it still compresses air and all but I guess not having the exhaust side makes it have less heat over all thus the engine lasts longer with a supercharger vs a turbo charger.
      Fuel economy with a supercharger is going to be a lot worse than turbo though. It's probably why manufactures are not going with superchargers.

      definitely would've gone the turbo route if I didn't live in California :)

      @@REVlogue The California smog laws don't approve of turbo kits? I know where is the CARB legal tags on intakes , so I assume you mean that the supercharger kit is CARB legal and there is no CARB legal turbo kit?
      Edit: Lol, I put CARD instead of CARB

      Ya it's not good for the fuel pump :( I'm used to Subarus and they normally have about another gallon after the light comes on :). I dare not do this in the new car (Honda S2000).
