  • Decided to do a long term ownership review of my 2016 BMW i3 BEV before it sells. Most people do short reviews after having a car for an hour or so. Totally worthless IMO, so here's an uneventful review of my own experience with the car over 3 years of owning it. Thanks for watching!

As you stated, for a city car it is awesome! No major problems in 3 years. Here is my canned comment after 20 months of ownership:
I have had my “Litl’ Blue” 2017 BMW i3 BEV 33Kw 94Ah since 01/25/2021. I bought it in Florida, in showroom condition with 24k on the odometer. I’m 75, and drive it about 30-100 miles a month in Comfort mode with a stomped accelerator, wide open moon roof, and a grin mostly to pick up online ordered groceries and to visit the VA clinic.
I use a 240V, 16A (3.84Kw) Level 2 charger in my carport routed inside my house as an ALTERNATE device to my dryer outlet and usually charge once a month. I gain 13.5 miles per hour of charging up to 124 to 137 miles. From home my electric cost is $0.031 per Mile which at an average gas price of $4.00 per gallon equates to 129 MPG. I’m a happy i3 owner to say the very least and gladly pay a helper $15.00 a month from my Social Security cash to wash, vac and dry it.
If there is a more perfect EV out there, I simply don’t want it! I don’t need more range, acceleration, styling, features, reliability, comfort, handling, or value. Litl’ Blue is obviously my Forever Car. Paid $16,500 but was offered $22,400 by Edmunds/CarMax 4 months ago which tickled my worn out ego. 36% appreciation on a used car in just over a year is certainly a first ever for me even on my ‘69 427ci/435hp Vette back in 1975. You may name yours too as you would any other loved pet. 🚙

This has to be one of the cleanest looking i3's I've ever seen. Currently considering one as a city car to zip around in Bucharest. Great review!

For the glovebox, I found that black friction tape works well. Wrap a small piece around all the metal latches (including trunk) and it prevents metal to metal rattles.

great video i am thinking maybe getting one, not sure yet but you did a great walk around. Question is can you use any of the dealer's charging station? Do you have to pay or a pay service plan to charge in public or dealers? thanks Erica

Just FYI, when you put your finger on the car door to unlock, I think you aren’t supposed to grab the inside part of the handle, so just tap the door handle, don’t grip it.

You got it around 19? What's the price then? Will you check on the coolant pump now and then? Worrying about the longevity.

I saw you had Nevada plates. Were you in Vegas or Carson? I want to know how would the car survive in the Vegas summer heat?

up near Carson, it should be ok just make sure to tint everything including the windshield! Can be expensive though since its one of the most difficult windshields to tint, my tint job cost $500!

sounds like an issue with your regenerative braking system, I'd have a mechanic look at it, way past my level of knowledge!
