Trying out Arrtx Soft Oil Pastels & Painting Monet's Water Lilies 🖍️ 48 color swatches + review

- I'm trying out the Arrtx Artist Soft Oil Pastels (48 color set) with detailed swatches, blending & mixing tests, comparing them to all my other oil pastel brands, and taking a look at how complete this color selection is for this review.
... and then paint a simple, (hopefully!) beginner-friendly oil pastel landscape based on Monet's Water Lilies. Impressionist art is wonderful for testing new art materials, with their vibrant and eclectic colors leaving so much room for experimenting, and I hope you enjoy this step-by-step tutorial!

This was a spectacular demonstration! Thank you for sharing.
Thank you, I'm so happy you enjoyed it! 💗
I really love how this turned out! Makes me want to try oil pastels 😍
Thank you, I'm glad you liked it! Oil pastels are such a quick, intuitive medium, I always end up sketching with them 💗🥰
Oil pastels continue to fascinate me. I myself don't enjoy using them but it's interesting watching others. It's starts looking like organized crayon scribbles and somehow turns into a type of painting. I don't mean this in any derogatory way, it's just an observation. The first strokes and very beginnings remind me of going to town as a kid with crayons on a page. It looks just as fun too, honestly. Lovely work as always!
Going to town with crayons is exactly what those first parts feel like, and it's actually really freeing and relaxing, especially if one is a bit of a perfectionist 😉😅 and then the layers after that feel more like painting - I just really enjoy these as a balance to other, more precise media. Thank you so much!
How do you seal the piece?
I'd actually been doing a lot of experimenting for oil pastels in the past, from different fixative spray, to wax/coated paper in sketchbooks, to acrylic mediums brushed over the painting. Since these are so soft, I'm testing fixative methods for them right now to share in my next oil pastel video. :)
