I love how they spent so much more time going in depth on why the crusaders are sh*t and hardly any time on going in depth on why the Hurricanes are 8-0 lmao. Why aren’t we analysing their attack patterns, the positioning of their back 3, the type of defence that Cory Jane is running that seems to shut good attacking teams down so well? Why aren’t we analysing why all 5 loosies are in form worthy of AB selection, how does the system that Laidlaw is running seem to be accomodating all of these parts so well? How about we analyse Jamie Macintosh and how he’s brought that scrum up to be absolutely dominant right now with only one starting AB and no AB locks or loosies? You guys call yourselves the breakdown bro, cmon. Do better.

Aussie team rosters are largely the same and settled. NZ teams either have new coaches or a lot of roster turnover of vital experienced players. If an Aussie team is going to win it, this year is probably their best chance.
Crazy to think a team who is 1 win and 7 losses still has a chance to make the playoffs. Close to the worst season in super rugby history and the Crusaders could still take the title. Shows just how low the bar is

I've been saying it for a long time. Especially Taylor who is quite clearly there just because of diversity as she clearly understands very little about the details for rigby matches. She said and I quote, I wouldn't have watched the crusaders vs force game last year and I wouldn't have watched the highlanders vs reads game. Do we seriously have to sit here and listen to our commentary team and analyze games when she isn't even interested in watching the damn games. Is it too much to ask to have an analysis on a breakdown show who at a bare minimum is actually watching the games?

She offers great analysis of teams and players, never considered her getting her spot based on diversity at all. If so, seems a better choice than having been an All Black, she's better than the bloke that's been missing the last 2 weeks.

Does NZ have enough top players to sustain 5 super teams, now that so many of the top players go overseas midway through their careers. They have always ended their playing years overseas but there has been a big shift in the last few years. 😢
The fact that Penney can so clearly say that everything has got into some of the players head and then these hosts defend him as the coach ....managing the team and ensuring they don't get lost in their own head is Penney's job....not just mentioning it after another decimation. Penney is not it and never had been. Where has he performed as a coach on HIS OWN MERITS?

For the host to say that the CRUSADERS struggles is good for the game is the most ridiculous comment I've ever heard. How is the struggles of the CRUSADERS a win for Australian rugby? All it proves is that for an Aussie team such as the FORCE to beat a Kiwi team, their better to face a weakened, struggle Kiwi team than a strong full strength Kiwi team so what does this say about the game for Australian Rugby when they do hit Finals Rugby against a full strength, full roster Kiwi team? what does this say about how their National team will look? It's such a cop out. I remember a famous comment made by then North Harbour Captain Errol Brain when asked about they big win over AUCKLAND who were missing 7 ALL BLACK players and other due to injury and he stated, we cannot wait for these players to retire or to be injured to beat them, we can't celebrate that kind of win, we need to learn from this side now, what makes them dominant, why are their players World Class, because if we don't, it won't be good for NZ Rugby. So now these guys are in some ways seeing a positive that the CRUSADERS are no longer the team? So the question now begs, are ok with mediocrity where our teams are great, but when they aren't at CRUSADERS level, great is not good enough, so are we still playing at our own level, or have NZ teams really surpassed the CRUSADERS and Scott Robertson? I say we have no achieved the level of the CRUSADERS. Despite the rise of the HURRICANES and the movements of the CHIEFS an BLUES, had the CRUSADERS coaching staff remained the same, this HURRICANES form still wouldn't mean much, as we've seen multiple times NZ teams look unbeatable, only to everyone of them crumble to the CRUSADERS in Finals rugby not for 1 year, not 3, not 4 but 7 years straight ALL have fallen to the CRUSADERS. Not one of these Kiwi teams are on that same plateau we've seen the CRUSADERS at almost the past decade. And the Aussie don't even come close. So to suggest, the Aussies form look great, you only have to witness their No.1 team, the BRUMBIES who were slaughtered at the hands of the BLUES this past weekend when the BLUES are 2nd and the BRUMBIES 3rd. And the BRUMBIES are the best of the Aussie teams. Had the CRUSADERS only dropped the one game to the W.FORCE, I would've rated that a great win, but almost everybody has beaten this wounded, unrecognizable CRUSADERS team coached by a man who's previous SUPER RUGBY coaching job was just as terrible at the REDS.
We all know that the Crusaders have been the most successful team ever in history of the competition. And a formidable side. It's not new news to the ears and understanding. But let's all bear in mind first and foremost that some key players have left to overseas shores at there own will. And we know who they are, and to add to that, a great coach like 'Razor" is also not there anymore. For me the Crusaders is a young side with some experience, who are in a building faze.They are going through changes and a learning curve. But that now does not mean at all, that great other teams as the Hurricanes, and Blues, and the Chiefs, does not make NZR formidable team, on the Contrary, it does. One cannot judge on one's team slump to other teams success as a Measuring stick. No not at all. One man's lose is another man's gain. That's how Life is, and it's the All Blacks gain. And it does not mean any team cannot come back and be Successful.

Its a ridiculous Competition. Leading the table and Winning the Competition means little. The table Competition is what should count and is competed for. The goal for most teams is 'we just have to make the top 8''. The top 8 in a 12 team competition lol. Some games become meaningless in terms of the competition. Most Teams are not that bothered losing games as long as they just make the top 8.
If they want do a FA Cup knockout style competition with all 12 teams but make that separate from the competition. Similar to the EPL and the FA cup. For all teams winning the EPL is the end all and be all. The FA cup is secondary.
I see a lot of NZ fans disliking Marshall but honestly he's way better than you give him credit for. Like here in the UK when the scrum is packing down the commentators aren't even talking about the game. They'll say stuff like "of course we all remember that moment 43 years ago when .... " its like really? At least Marshall will take a look at the backlines and try to predict what attack patterns they might run (which by the way we can't bloody see because the cameras always zoom right in on the scrum so we don't know what's going on)
Right now Hurricanes are number one.The Blues and chiefs are still dangerous.
Highlanders and Crusaders are absolute strugglers.
Hoskins Sotutu is best 8 in the country.He is also the tallest 8 in the country.
He is great at line out time.We can’t have three short loose forwards in the All Blacks.
McWhannell is great line out forward.He is leading line out exponent in NZ.
The last few rounds and the knockout stages will decide who is in the All Blacks.
Some people are lucky, others aren't, especially in the vitak campaigns - the unlucky include Rib Penny, San Cane, and Ian Foster. Let's see uf Razor's luck holds. The idds are seriously agsinst him.

The great Crusaders sides always had either a great 9 or a great 10 in their sides (or both in Merts and Marshall), this side has neither. Both starting 9 and 10 last week both have laborious passes and neither are running threats. By the time the ball gets outside to the threats the defensive lines are in their pockets.
Also the highest points of Crusader rugby has come under 2 long serving coaches, Deans and Robertson.
It's going to be a long empty season unless they can get their injuries back and find some attacking force closer to the pack.
They should bring some type of religation in super rugby.
The outside team will be Argentina team, Japan team, Hawaii team and USA Team
As a Blues supporter, seeing that JK isn't on the show again trumps any Crusaders freefall.

@@razza83 Can't muster enough interest to hate on the Crusaders the way we used to do with Canterbury back in the NPC days. It's just not the same. I support any NZ side when they play the Aussies. Pretty sure that should be the main priority if you're looking at the big picture. JK and his crazy uncle routine not being on the show, now that's worth celebrating.

So good to see some acknowledgement of Billy Proctor and the Hurricanes AT LAST what do they have to do!! Reiko and the Blues have enjoyed so much support and attention from the pundits and the Hurricanes so often go overseas because of neglect by NZR. I do get tired of the Rose and/or Blue-coloured glasses. even after another win first and major focus of the show is the losers. Prefer Marshy to JK as he is more realistic and JK dominates too much. Why isn't Jeff supporting the Highlanders a bit more?

This was always going to be a difficult, transitional year for a number of teams, most of all The Saders. Razor gone and Hohepa is no where near the player Mo'unga is. Jordan and Taylor out injured. They are still a good team, but something is seriously amiss. I hate to say it, but it could be the coaching. But what do I know - I'm a Canes fan.

Strange, the Crusaders lose a bunch of games, not a word about the coaching? The Allblacks lose a couple of games, and most of the country goes on the rampage about The Coach, Ian Foster. Get rid of him, ad nauseum. So, what gives?
Notably, The Breakdown spent most of their time supporting Foster while he was coach. I think they are contractually obliged to not personalise attacks on coaches or officials. However, yes, in the cases of both the Highlanders and Crusaders their current coaching set up is culpable, as was Foster.
