  • In this episode, we buy a long forgotten 1967 D200 pickup, swap a big block 440 into it and get it back on the road after sitting for years!
Massive shoutout to James Automotive for helping me along the way!

Lol, this is ironic. After my old man passed away I got his 62 Power Wagon and his motorhome with a 413 in it. I tried to talk him into putting the 413 in the power wagon for years before he died. With a million projects of my own I ended up getting rid of the motorhome. But every once in awhile I still fantasize about how it would have been if I put that motor in there. Thanks for letting me live a little vicariously through you

The truck certainly was, and is, fun. Unfortunately, this truck had a level of "unsafe" that I learned when tearing it down. I used this truck and another together to make the current one. This one had a steering box that had horrible steering and would make me lose control at higher speeds, and the cab mounting points were completely rotted out, making it held together only by the front core support bolts.

Right now I’m putting a mobile home 440 in my 64’ Power Wagon. Ported heads, cam and 4 barrel carb. I also have a 67’ Power wagon. Love these old Dodges.
    Good job man!

Been there several times, brother! 66 D200, 66 W200 crewcab (ex-Air Force), and the latest I just completed a D300 one ton flatbed. All of them 4 speeds and all of them unique in their own right. My next is a short bed sweptside D100, 3 on the tree. I'm getting delivery tomorrow, I can't wait!

Did a similar swap recently. Cut 1" off the Np435 input shaft and the use the FC69907 bearing. Install the bearing in the torque converter hole in the back of the crank.
Your 440 valve cover is most likely going to hit the brake booster too.

I would say that you were honest in all means of a showing as this is not a exact science for all. I have wrenched for over forty years so great for me, someone who has never to maybe held a hand wrench... then this would give the patterns and its up to them get books/manuals so it becomes a easier idea of what might or not do. I liked it.

This is a simple swap since you already had a big block truck and you stayed with the standard. This is a lot less work than my 65 D100

THAT 4 SPEED IS THE TRANSMISSION... it what I call Long throw and If your going to change gears with some little "short stick" that moves 2 inches a shift..what the point? As I 4 year old I would sit in the company's 1966 w500 flatbed and shift for hours pretending I was driving the school bus... Someday LORD willing I may get a chance to shift it in "real life" Im only a few years older than your Truck...It will make you a great daily driver Enjoy! in the 80's and 90's before scarp steel went up in value you would see dodge truck frames with drive full drivetrains but NO body parts... they just used cheap a$$ steel for body panels or there would be even more of those on the road than any other brand from the mid 60's to 1972. era.

The trans in the truck should bolt up to the 440 with no issues I have swapped 383 for 440 and vice versa with never a issue

In your state, are you not allowed to call the police department and get a, one time per vehicle, permission to drive your truck to the exhaust shop? I can in South Carolina.

A temp license plate is allowed, however, I don't want to damage the heads given I'd be running open stock manifolds.
