This situation is why you invest in a live Doppler that offers usable velocity data that keeps you from having to switch nexrad sites for velocity data.
I slept through the beginning of this coverage and woke up to the tornado warnings in Warrick (the Vand. warning had expired) and I flipped out. I was 14 and paranoid.
I was off of outter Lincoln when this tornado came through. People, that tornado came through so fast, I was an athletic 19 year old man and I barely made it to the hallway before the tornado ripped apart 2/3 of the house we were in. I picked glass shards out of my skin for a week. If we didn’t make it to that hallway, I have no doubt that all six of us would be dead. Especially when the ceiling caved in. Take these WARNINGS SERIOUSLY.
You're welcome, Mr. Hart. You quite literally saved our lives that night as we were watching you. All six of us are alive, even though there wasn't much of a house left and we owe you our lives and want to thank you on behalf of all of us. Keep fighting the good fight!
Eastbrooke mobile home park I remember this. Yea I’m in Webster county our tornado warning, I was on the fire department and we got a guy out from under his trailer, they now have a tornado shelter. Also we were trying to fight an oil well fire, lightening hit it.
i was about to turn 2 when this happened but i don’t remember much, i remember my mom waking me and my sister up and we stayed under the lowest ceiling in our house and i think my dad was still at work we’ve moved since then but god just hearing about it is kind of terrifying i think our house was okay but i vaguely recall someone telling me our neighbours werent so lucky
i live in newburgh now but when i heard it was going through the heart of newburgh, i live in that area. i wonder if my house was hit. But this was really scary just watching it
The first night I lived in Newburgh was the night of the Tornado. We were just all awake not knowing it was there. And the fact that it was 2 minutes from where I lived,
I was 4 years old during this. Desd asleep my grandma woke me and drug me into the basement. I remember the carnage and destruction the next morning after, it was breathtaking its something I wont forget and one of the reasons I have a dream of chasing storms. It sparked my fascination of storms. The next day my other grandma picked me up and a subdivision just down the street from where I was got decimated.
I was 9 years old when this happened, I was about to turn 10 a month after the tornado hit Evansville, IN. I actually live in St. Louis, MO but I think I did see news about this on CBS.
I lived in Vincennes when this happened and remember trying to call all my friends and family in Evansville and Newburgh that night...very sad event.

probably the closest call for a tornado hitting downtown Evansville
