Jesse Owens was an olympic track and field athlete who won four gold medals at the 1936 Olympic Games in Berlin. Prior to the olympics, during a track meet in 1935 Jesse Owens broke three world records and tied another in less than an hour. His legacy includes the "Jesse Owens Award" which is USA Track and Field's highest accolade for the year's best track and field athlete. He was born on September 12, 1913 in Oakville, Alabama and he died on March 31, 1980 in Tucson, Arizona.
