Toyotomi Hideyoshi was a samurai and daimyo. He is regarded as the second "Great Unifier" of Japan. Hideyoshi had humble beginning as a peasant prior to becoming perhaps the most powerful man in Japan. He was a retainer of Oda Nobunaga until his in which he then himself became the de facto leader of Japan. He continued Nobunaga's campaign to united Japan that led to the end of the Sengoku period. He was born in Nakamura, Owari, Japan on February 2, 1586 and died in Fushimi Castle, Kyoto, Japan on September 18, 1598.
