The most ironic part of Hideyoshi's reign is him forbidding social mobility when he, in fact, was the one who rose to such prominence thanks to Gekokujo. From peasant landholder to samurai to general of Nobunaga's western campaigns to inheritor of Nobunaga's conquests.
I feel one the things Hideyoshi feared most was men like himself: deviously cunning and capable peasants who could be underestimated by haughty samurais.

Or not take weapons from the people, or stop social mobility, both only serve to create more unrest instead of preventing it. There was a lot Hideyoshi could have done in hindsight to actually benefit the country, instead of hurting it in efforts to preserve his fledgling dynasty

@@akechijubeimitsuhide Because the Daimyo were commanded to send resources based on proximity to Korea.
The further West and South your territory, the more you were obliged to send to Korea. Thus, the Sanada's would've taken no part in the campaign, much like the Date and the Tokugawa. Rumours of Date Masamune fighting in Korea should be regarded with a grain of salt, as there really aren't any historical records to indicate he did.
Meanwhile, Daimyo like Shimazu Yoshihiro and Kato Kiyomasa led large numbers to fight in Korea. There were other daimyo, but I found those 2 to be among the most memorable; Kato Kiyomasa was the only Daimyo to reach Chinese territory, fighting the Jurchens, while the Shimazu fought very well in general, including some battles where they were outnumbered by the Koreans and Chinese.
Ultimately, the Imjin War weakened the Western Daimyo, while Tokugawa basically kept his forces intact.

@@galren208 Probably also because the Sanada wouldn't have taken part in Korea, due to their location. Similarly, Eastern Daimyo like the Date and Tokugawa didn't either.
The Daimyo who sent the most troops and resources to Korea were the Western Daimyo like the Shimazu or Kato Kiyomasa due to the proximity of their location. The further West (i.e. closer to Korea) your territory, the more of your resources you were expected to send to the war effort.

Hideyoshi body was buried at Toyokuni Shrine.
However, when Ieyasu unified Japan, Toyokuni Shrine was destroyed.
Hideyoshi tomb was not destroyed, but it was off-limits and left unattended.
When the Meiji Restoration took place, Toyokuni Shrine was rebuilt by order of Emperor Meiji.
At that time, the tomb was also excavated and reconstructed, but a mummified body was found in a large urn.
    That was Hideyoshi.
His grave goods were stolen, and Hideyoshi slept alone for 250 years in an abandoned and dilapidated tomb.
When the urn was moved, the mummified body collapsed.
The collapsed bodies were picked up, wrapped in silk, put into a paulownia wood box, and re-interred in the renovated and cleaned tomb.

The Chinese also boasted a great admiral as well, even if the Japanese is more successful Korea, what would happened if another portion of the Chinese army able to get to Japan? How long are the Japanese are willing to stay in Korea, homesick and harassed by the inhabitants? The invasions are foolhardy from the start. Ieyasu also has a big problem where he can't commit all his forces for a prolonged invasion cause there will always be another daimyo just waiting for an opportunity to take him on. It wasn’t rare for admirals, even ones of such caliber, to be KIA. De Ruyter is another such example.
Of what I consider to be the four great Age of Sail admirals (in chronological order; Yi, De Ruyter, Ushakov and Nelson) only Ushakov wasn’t killed in action.

Arigato shogun. Have you ever had past life experiences? I've had more and more since I learned to put myself in a lucid dreaming state. Anyway, I've only had 2 of this era but when you mention names like yukimura Sanada, I get an inspiring reaction.
My experiences show me that lifetime was as exciting at playing samurai warriors, though their abilities seem too far fetched to most bodily conscious beings. I rarely discuss these experiences but they are the most amazing when I meet another soul that has devotion in their soul.
And btw, what samurai strategy games are multiplayer for ps4? Or even other strategy games you can recommend?.

I think that its unlikely (same with the theory that ieyasu had something to do with) based on the time frame mitsuhide acted on impulse and let's face it no source I have encountered says anything remotely to mitsuhide being above average intelligence so my guess he saw a chance(in his eyes) to avenge his mother/seize power , took it and then got destroyed because he didn't have a proper plan

      I’m Japanese student.
Most loyal ministers, as a Gotairo(五大老) were chosen from generals who have huge territories, a lot of castles and a lot of samurais.
But Mitsunari Ishida looked like accounting manager of Toyotomi company.
So he could move the money. However he didn’t have huge territories, a lot of castles and a lot of samurais. It means he wasn’t good for war.
For the above reason, Toyotomi Hideyoshi didn’t choose Mitsunari Ishida as Gotairo.
      Sorry if I’m wrong.

Ieyasu is in an old age then, Hideyoshi probably prefer to wait for natural causes rather risk a civil war. The contemporary chinese dynasty founder, Zhu Yuanzhang, is another commonner who became ruler, ordered the executions of tens of thousands of the subordinates who brought him to power and their families. If the samurai clams think that this fate is going to befelll them, a conspiracy will be formed. Nevertheless, Hideyoshi, should be inspired by his example instead of Nobunaga ambitions, the Ming lasted. Even, if he killed Tokugawa, another challenger might appear in the council. Samurai betrayed each others much more than honor their words. Korea took much time and resources that should have been used to centralize his authority.

    • @nicholasgutierrez9940
      @nicholasgutierrez9940 3 года назад +1

Due to the stalemate at Komaki-Nagakute, the treaty signed between the Tokugawa and the Toyotomi gave the Tokugawa an almost free hand. They didn't have to send any forces to Korea and thus just spent the time building up. Ieyasu just made relations with a lot of other clans, sowing seeds of doubt in some and allying with others. It's why some Toyotomi generals like Kato Kiyomasa later rebelled against the Toyotomi.
