    The single biggest issue with making builds is just not knowing every single affix and unique from the top of your head, in addition to knowing the passive skill tree so well you can dream about it. When you know all of this info, seeing the description of a unique is enough to know if it's good or not because you know what other affixes or passive tree points are good synergy.
    Like I often try making builds and then ask someone for tips on how to improve it, and they just straight up tell me ''this unique will double your damage'' or ''this passive will quadruple your health'' and I didn't even know it existed.

      I always begin planning my builds with the bare minimum Uniques possible, I always plan them around SSF play, and only include absolutely required Uniques by default, and then maybe have a separate gear set with chase items on it. You can also figure out which uniques will be good for your build by just using PoB and sorting the gear list by different damage options. PoB honestly makes build planning and theorycrafting pretty simple, even for absolute PoE beginners.

      This is why PoE is such a mess. You can't make a build without specific items. You can't know what items you need for your build unless you know ALL of the items AND get the perfect drops along the way.
      It's a cool idea with the skills and links but FUCK ME is it asinine how the skill-point system works.

    As of right now the issue I have with making my own builds is just game knowledge, I don't know a lot of the uniques and some interactions with support gems. I do have issues with crafting but all that can be fixed over time for the most part.
    I am at the point I can modify builds to what I want pretty easily.

    I always understand these videos in theory. I follow guides and can get through the campaign and start mapping with the initial gear set I’ve put together.
    But inevitably I cap out and need to upgrade my gear and upgrades in PoE very rarely drop, they’re made. And that’s where the wheels fall off the wagon for me.
    It always feels like Jenga where pulling off one piece of gear takes away key resistances or other stats that need to be replaced. And as it can only rarely be done in a 1:1 slot item swap, it leads to the entire gear tower to come crashing down around me as I start juggling different pieces.

    • @Durzaka
      @Durzaka Год назад +2

      Thats unfortunately just the nature of the game. Sometimes your build is balanced on a pin and when you do get one upgrade, you cant quite use it until you upgrade multiple pieces at once.
      A lot of people wait to upgrade for that reason. Target your upgrades, work on them once your build is stable, and then do a big switch.
      It does become easier when you get some nicer pieces, like rings with double T1 ele res in both sockets take care of all of your resistances for a very long time as you shuffle around your gear.

    • @TheOnlyGhxst
      @TheOnlyGhxst Год назад +1

      Import new gear pieces you find/craft into PoB so you can compare all the stat changes at a glance before you make a permanent change. That's what I always do in endgame and it makes everything so much easier to visualize and plan around.

    I'm thinking of doing a gladiator double strike w/ bleed for the bleed explosions, but im wondering if making the bleed part even worth scaling into in terms of damage(ive been staring at crimson dance), or should i keep bleed as something only to procc debuffs, and ofcourse bleedsplosions.

    • @TheOnlyGhxst
      @TheOnlyGhxst Год назад +1

      Bleed can definitely be very strong when built around. It's never quite at the level of poison or ignite, but can be extremely strong nonetheless. The main thing with bleeds is that the base damage to the attack affects the damage over time, and with Crimson Dance only the highest application of bleed gets applied per stack and overrides lesser applications, so you want to have very big hits. If you combine huge hits + Crimson Dance + A ton of Crit Multi with Perfect Agony, you can shred everything. If you want to focus purely on the Bleed damage, though, then you might be better off using Lacerate or Bladestorm as your main skill.

    • @AGR_13
      @AGR_13 Год назад +1

      yes and no. Armor is scaled off the dmg from the hit, so the more dmg the hit does, the less useful your armor is overall. So things like shaper slam for most builds will do alot of dmg, but shifting some of that dmg to a standard 75% ele mitigation can be very useful. You will need alot of investment into armor for it to outclass ele res when it comes to mitigating the Biggest hits in the game from ubers, but other than that it wont be That noticeable a difference.

    New player here
    I was always told that similar to how you said armor % is not correct elemental res is not "honest" as well.
    Like that's the reason why +1 or w/e max res is so important, and that's why capping res is important, as if the 75% fire res will reduce more than just 5% compared to 70% fire res ( or any other ele res)
    Is this true or maybe outdated info?

    • @viniciuscarvalho3586
      @viniciuscarvalho3586 Год назад

      its a math question, considering that everybody have 75% res (cap), if you get +1% max ress u dont get -1% elemental damage, u get -4%, cuz that 1 % in 25 is equal to 4% damage reduction, so yeah, its not wrong on the character sheet

    • @Durzaka
      @Durzaka Год назад +4

      elemental res is honest, its just the math behind it isnt very intuitive for a majority of people. If you take 1000 fire damage, and have 75% fire resistance, you resist 750 damage (75%) and take 250 damage. If you have 80% fire resistance you resist 800 damage (80%) and take 200 damage. Logical, and linear reduction. BUT since the base line is always at 75 regardless, when you go above it the impact is more significant. That 5% from 75 to 80 technically reduces the damage the same amount as 70 to 75, but comparatively its a lot more. That 5% made the original hit of damage you take (250) a full 50 damage less (200). 50 damage from 250 damage is a reduction of damage taken by 20%.
      So while your resistance changed from 75 to 80 and the damage you took from the WHOLE attack (the original unmitigated 1000 hit) is reduced by 5%. The damage you took compared to 75% is a 20% difference.
      So I guess if you want to be simple, elemental res isnt honest because math is funny.

But it's one that I plan on playing at the start/using for most things. There's a bit... Guess you could say "hard" things to get. Which are influenced curse on hit rings. For Ele Weakness and Conduct. But those are obvs for way later/upgrades. I'm thinking it'll have like 1-2.5mil dps early on. With it getting to only 7mil later. Which is fine for me cause I don't care to do Uber fights. And to ME, it looks like a good build but... Idk I'm always unsure about builds that I make for myself. Sanctum I took inspo from your Champ CB build & Grimro's build of it. And basically combined the two & made changes myself. Which.. I was really happy about because I "made" the build. Min-maxed it & so on. But like I said, always unsure about the builds I myself make 🤣 I understand a lot of the fundamentals to make one.

    I'll repeat again here if anyone is doing explosive arrow.
    Don't calculate it.
    Go drop ONE totem and count.
    Try various situations... eg: from a standstill, from half screen, against a slippery opponent.
    If you play it with pandemonium effect MTX it's really easy to see the difference (when actually playing with full set of totems)
    When you get it lined up on a stationary opponent you get a really juicy explosion, declaring that 20 is possible with your setup.
    And that's what your calculation would tell you.
    But then you try it on small, fast, teleporting, etc and de facto it's really hard to actually get the juicy explosion which declares 20.
    The exact breakpoints aren't likely to be very important unless you're running a particular boss that you can fight from a standstill. Getting each extra volley is super important, but there's enough stuff screwing up the situation that your calculated number isn't likely to be good enough in actual play. If you're fighting something strong and dangerous for your power level, slap on some extra skill effect duration to try to guarantee 20 fuses.
    And hence, I suggest just counting. Too bad there's no training dummy.

They will explain mechanics better supposedly, but it will not get easier to make builds :D And as for respec same thing, i'm pretty sure they said themselves that they want the game to punish you for mistakes and that's the learning experience they think is good and cool (i.e. our players are sweaty nerds anyway so they don't care about losing time for no reason).

    RFespec options ain't bad, having free respecs all the time leads to a no sum game where you decisions do not matter. It is true in D3, it will be tru8ie in D4. Note that I would not be op[posed to a free respec once story is done that you can use whenever. Regrets arfe still a viable option tyho and they do drtop quite often.

    • @flashbackfrank8781
      @flashbackfrank8781 11 месяцев назад

      The issue isn't that you'll come out "At the bottom".
      It's that you won't even be able to get to the end of the game unless you're using a meta build, with foreknowledge of all the bugs, hidden effects, and weird loops the game designers throw in there at random.
      Like, you need billions of DPS, and most first-timers who go in blind will come out in the 100~150K mark. COMPLETELY non-viable, and unable to even remotely damage the late-game enemies. You'll be instantly fried the moment you step into a late-game map (The entire story mode is just a tutorial.).
      Over the years the lists of viable builds has grown smaller and smaller because of constant nerfs to anything that does well.
      It just spirals down over time into "Do blade cyclone teleport build or fuck off and don't play our game."

    So yeah POE is a hard game and don't expect to understand everything after 1000hours

    Builds are honestly not to difficult to build the problem is there are so many skills that are just so underpowered compared to a lot of the meta skills only knowledgeable players with many hours in the game can make these weaker skills work decently

    Although I was impressed with how many changes they can put out every league. Time and again we are proven that to much of anything is bad. As it was really taking many hours of experience away at very rapid pace.
    If I had my own game, I'd build in funky quest that would make players decide what changes be made to the game, in semi RP way of course.

    I think if a game needs to rely on an external tool to ensure your gaming experience, then the game is definitely too hard, or to say too complicated. It shouldn't be like this. Pls do share your opinion to me, because I'm wondering if anyone got the same feeling.

      Could be a bit better.
      But overall it's stuff they basically crowdsourced.
      It'd be nice if it was just integrated into the game, but at a certain point it's basically a waste of effort. Someone already made it and everyone uses a few certain external sites. Making a proprietary version at that point seems like a waste of employee hours.

      You're not going to enjoy much of life if the end goal is the only pleasure you derive out of it. The process of getting better and gaining mastery is much more lasting.
      That mindset will serve you better: you'll find the small, happy things that can make something like a long flight, wait time for a doctor, or personal hardship more manageable. Extract joy out of everything you can in life, even failure.
