I agree with the speaker at 8min 46 sec. Africa must be broken up into bands and taken as spheres of activity and processes. For one to speak of Africa as one thing is to really not to know Africa. There are parts where there is construction happening everyday and there are places where that has not happened ever, the question is where and what and what is required to drive forward activity. The greatest opportunity on Earth today is developing Africa to create the world's largest untapped market. Those who align themselves properly are going to float on a multi trillion dollar market.
Canadian pension funds roll their eyes because they have no local intelligence on the markets in Africa. I would invite them to get on a plane and come down to South Africa, Namibia and Botswana for instance and see the reality of how these things actually work and proof that their returns will happen. The Chinese are here on the ground and moving, if Canadians keep rolling their eyes, by the the time they sniff the opportunities - the Chinese will have locked down the top tier opportunities and leave them the crumbs - its get in early or settle for being last.
