It's not really a secret that The Doctor has had children before, and they most likely would have slept in the cot. We know he at least had one child, because of Susan... and Susan could have slept in that cot too.
This is just another video that proves that without music, movies would be shit, even the good ones... This is a epic part (mostly cuz the music sets the tone) but without the music, it feels so empty and... well dull.... Try watching star wars without the music and you will see that music makes or breaks movies for the most part..... It is weird that music sets the mood that we feel in ways that we cant even imagine... The world would be a very dull and boring without music!!!
Not that a film score isn't extremely important to story telling but there are other reasons the scene thuds when viewed here. A lot is in the moment context. The fact you already know the reveal. The reactions left to breath a little longer in the moment. The other little nuances that were cut, that you don't even think about but without being there make it so seem so empty. Watch it again with just the music removed and you'll see what I mean. The scene will still hold up, even without the emotional prompt of the music. It won't be 100% as good but it won't be totally different either. There are some scenes that work better without music. Mainly claustrophobic inducing scenes. Love and action beg for scores though.
I completely agree. It actually works both ways though. Just as music can significantly impact the quality of the show, the show can impact how much you like the music. If the show was really good and awesome when you heard the music, then whenever you hear the music again, you'll love it because it reminds you of the good feelings you had when you heard that music first.
Nope. It just means that Riversong knows what happens to Donna and so therefore didn’t recognize her because by the time the Doctor meets her she’s not there anymore
1:26 "The only water in the forest is the river", the tardis said this to rory in the episode "The Doctor's Wife" and I always thought that they meant the tardis was the doctor's wife, but now im certain they were hinting at river song
@LowBudgetStudios remember, a lot of things aren't fixed yet, and most of the questions about the silence, the "total event collapse" in series 5, the doctor's death and the nature of the little girl in the space suit, IF she is river song/melody pond are still unresolved. I'm sure moffat is saving the best for his big series finale. and also remember that we haven't really seen much of the doctor/river relationship, because so far it has been early days for the doctor and late days for river.
Where DID he get the cot from??? Also, there are quite a lot of circles. Maybe there is more than just one name. And maybe at one point there'll be more circles (if you know what i mean) We need series 8! Also i love alex kingston and river song
My friend spoiled season 3-6 for me, pretty much. I kept telling him I was still on season 2 but he said "Oh so you know who River is. Well, River is Amy's daughter," and yada yada yada.
can't wait until it starts back up in Septembe so that we can see their reactions and if they treat River any different now that they know she's their little girl :)
I was thinking a lot of babies were probably in that cot especially the doctor and River. But how did river get into that cot? MORE EPISODES TO MANY GAPS!!!
What do you mean when you ask how did river get into that cot? It shows how in the exact same episode .. The doctor brought the cot for Amys baby and it shows that they put her in ,River is Amys baby so that's how she getted into that cot..
@JammiDoccyBenji I think it may be in reference to the fact that the Doctor has been a father. Which is something I would LOVE to be explored. The children obviously couldn't be Time Lord, so there's a good chance that the Doctor has lived through the birth and death of his children (how tragic!). Also, there's Jenny, who was never an infant, but is still alive! It would be great for her to come back!
@jin12345678 Not necessarily. The girl in the space suit did regenerate at the end of episode 2. Since we know that little Melody is part Time Lord, and that little girl regenerated, they have to be the same person. Hince, the little girl that regenerated has to be Melody Pond, A.K.A. River Song.
In the "night and the doctor" which are small extras there was a night that the doctor met his future self at the last night he had with riversong. And though it was a very small thing, it felt right for her to leave after that. But I would prefer if they had one normal episode just to see her say goodbye to the doctor. I bet many fans haven't even watched the "Night and the doctor" extras so its quite confusing for them....
I think you'll find that Fektthis is refering to the fact that every time they met River they were going backwards on her timeline. The 'hotter, younger actress' played an earlier incarnation of the character.
i think the doctor looking young smbolizes how old he really is. casting a young actor is tricky. but they have to be good at acting with their eyes like Matt and David. it gives you a feeling that he is actually old. plus on the brightside the young actor can stay for a longer time than an older actor. and the actor has to bit pysically fit to play this role so obviously they aren't going to go with a very old actor.
she's not a Time Lord exactly. But she was conceived inside the Time Vortex, so she got charged up with extra temporal energy like a Time Lord, which lets her be immortal/regenerate. And the TARDIS used its psychic translator powers to teach River how to fly it.
Now that this had been revealed I wonder if alot of fans are going back to season 5 when Amy and River first met. Amy was so jealous! But she was always teasing, the first episode with River, she was all like "Doctor you soniced her". Now its "You soniced my daughter". The Doctor finally figures out who River is and he keeps looking back at Amy and Rory probably Rory though, because if the guy didn't like you flirting with his wife, hows he going to feel about you sonicing his daughter.
@IKiLLahIKooL If it WAS translated, that would sort of ruin the funXD Also, it makes little sense for a Time Lord built spaceship to translate the Time Lord language - when they build it, they didn't expect some geezer to steal it and bring his friends from abroad with him, they expected anyone who'd use the ship to know that language...
She can't really say goodbye to the doctor because she doesn't know she is going to die........I did like the references from The Deadly Forest being shown, although I think when Rivers story ends you will see her leave the doctor to go to the library......
For those worried about Moffat revealing the Doctor's name in the season finale, you should watch 2:48-3:20. It will put your mind at ease, trust me! And trust him.
On saturday mornin i was just like ibet river is amys daughter then i was like no thats to far fatched then when river said she was their daughter i screamed i knew it really loud
The above comment is full of spoilers... I think there are weird things about River Song. She was "made" in the void of time, born in the future, raised in the sixties, died, born again, wandered through the world just to reach Leadworth, became a child again (I supose), became the best friend of her parents in school, and tried to kill Hitler... And she is a time lord... I think seeing their daughter as a middle aged woman wasn't such a big deal.
My mom ruined it for me, she looked it up on Wikipedia , I imagine how shocked I would have been if I waited till the episode, but no, mom tole me who she was, by cheating. It would've been more fun!
i dont understand when river says 'read it' to amy but then amy says she cant and then river says its cos its gallifreyan it wont translate. Well why tell her to read it the first place :/
Trying to explain River to my friends is the most difficult thing to do
Agreed
yep i undrrstand it
Flipper 2002 it's a time travel show so it's not too hard to understand, but it's definitely a long explanation!
Yeah I understand it but explaining to my friends that don't watch Doctor Who is long and difficult
I just realised baby river slept in the doctors bed/cot. #timelordlove
Well technically she didn't because the Melody that slept in the cot was a ganger not the real one. Sorry to spoil your shipping fuel.
It's not really a secret that The Doctor has had children before, and they most likely would have slept in the cot. We know he at least had one child, because of Susan... and Susan could have slept in that cot too.
River Song's Theme is so wonderful!
"How many babies have been in the doctors cot?"
me: HOPEFULLY SOME TIMEBABIES
With a Time-head 😂
This is just another video that proves that without music, movies would be shit, even the good ones... So true. Music is everything.
Not that a film score isn't extremely important to story telling but there are other reasons the scene thuds when viewed here. A lot is in the moment context. The fact you already know the reveal. Corey Carnes ill ul

When Amy says "No... Where are you going??!!", what a voice, Karen has!!
anyone else think that Donna was meant to have more to do with river based on the initial reaction to Donna from river in the library
Nope. It just means that Riversong knows what happens to Donna and so therefore didn’t recognize her because by the time the Doctor meets her she’s not there anymore
Love River Song!
me too 😍
how genious must a human mind be, to create such a perfect story? thanx Stephen Moffat, and all the people working there, too, i love you all
doctor who its just a big ball of wibbly wobly timey wimey stuff ya know
"You have to have an answer that is as complicated as the question." What kind of complicated-ass name have you got for the Doctor then, eh, Moffat?
Still unknown
this looked a lot better in the episode xD
1:26 "The only water in the forest is the river", the tardis said this to rory in the episode "The Doctor's Wife" and I always thought that they meant the tardis was the doctor's wife, but now im certain they were hinting at river song
"So the answer, is as good as the question"
Ughhhh Alex stop teasing us...."How many babies have been in that cot?" I WANT A TIME LORD BABYYYYY AGHHHHHHHH
"You clever so-and-so and you're amazing."
Right, Alex. We all know what you meant.
@LowBudgetStudios remember, a lot of things aren't fixed yet, and most of the questions about the silence, the "total event collapse" in series 5, the doctor's death and the nature of the little girl in the space suit, IF she is river song/melody pond are still unresolved.

and also remember that we haven't really seen much of the doctor/river relationship, because so far it has been early days for the doctor and late days for river.
This is one of the few awesome reveals that no one spoiled for me and and a cherish it very much
Where DID he get the cot from???
Also, there are quite a lot of circles. Maybe there is more than just one name.
And maybe at one point there'll be more circles (if you know what i mean)
We need series 8!
Also i love alex kingston and river song
Kyubi095 I heard somewhere that his name is like 38 syllables
We most definitely didnt need series 8
Most of us write and read Sherman's circular Gallifreyan, but on the show the circles don't mean anything - they're just decorative
I was surprisd when it was revealed that River was Amy and Rory's daughter.
My friend spoiled season 3-6 for me, pretty much. I kept telling him I was still on season 2 but he said "Oh so you know who River is. Well, River is Amy's daughter," and yada yada yada.

So Alex is basically saying that Steven is crazily amazing ???????
Me thinks we're gonna have a little Doctor running around soon...
The awkwardness of filming a music scene with no music.
There is a deleted scene with Donna and Tenth in the TARDIS in the end of the episode with Jenny, the TARDIS real noise sounds terrible xD
@Fromundra That's the only way Melody/Mels/River could be able to regenerate
Chills EVERY time.
When Alex almost gave something away about the crib I expected her to say, "Spoilers!"
@JammiDoccyBenji I think it may be in reference to the fact that the Doctor has been a father. Which is something I would LOVE to be explored. I find it weird that The Doctor is flirting with Amy's daughter.
Amy, I AM YOUR DAUGHTER!
I cry whenevr river song says she is their daughter :')
I believe the doctor's and River's baby has been in this cot))
Dashudzu
Assuming they had children
@jin12345678 Not necessarily. The girl in the space suit did regenerate at the end of episode 2. Since we know that little Melody is part Time Lord, and that little girl regenerated, they have to be the same person. Hince, the little girl that regenerated has to be Melody Pond, A.K.A. River Song.

I love how much alex knows but can't say XD
Don't you just love River? xD ~
Seriously, at her age.. god she is gorgeous.
I think you'll find that Fektthis is refering to the fact that every time they met River they were going backwards on her timeline. The 'hotter, younger actress' played an earlier incarnation of the character.
i always wondered that too-but also the doctor could have just told river about donna. but your way is much better...
*Scoots closer* What was that you almost let slip Alex? Something about the cot not only being the Doctor's?
My shipper heart cannot take the strain!
Rory took Amy's name because it's cooler. Plus, Amy can keep her name if she wants, it's her dicision!
I rewinded it to hear it again
Rory's face when he found out she was her daughter :P
i think the doctor looking young smbolizes how old he really is.
casting a young actor is tricky. but they have to be good at acting with their eyes like Matt and David. it gives you a feeling that he is actually old. plus on the brightside the young actor can stay for a longer time than an older actor. and the actor has to bit pysically fit to play this role so obviously they aren't going to go with a very old actor.

Because the Doctor get this cot from the Tardis for the little Melody and he knew that.
Now that this had been revealed I wonder if alot of fans are going back to season 5 when Amy and River first met. Amy was so jealous! But she was always teasing, the first episode with River, she was all like "Doctor you soniced her". Now its "You soniced my daughter". that akward moment when you are killed by your wife, infront of your wife and best friend, who is pregnant..... with your wife.
Omg I nearly cried when river said *im ur daughter * lol
Yes, I really hope so!!!
the only source of water in A forest is either a spring or a creek ( if you live where i do )
ohh. thank you for this explantion :)
So if it was the Doctor's name on the side of the cot then how come he got all excited and stuff and she said "I am telling you"?
this scene couldve worked well without music, the background ambience works well
@IKiLLahIKooL If it WAS translated, that would sort of ruin the funXD Also, it makes little sense for a Time Lord built spaceship to translate the Time Lord language - when they build it, they didn't expect some geezer to steal it and bring his friends from abroad with him, they expected anyone who'd use the ship to know that language...
That moment when your step-parents are younger than you...
Interesting! Possibly the Doctors name on the cot. "But is it ONLY the Doctors cot? Um... Yes, that's all I can say." Oooooo!
She can't really say goodbye to the doctor because she doesn't know she is going to die........I did like the references from The Deadly Forest being shown, although I think when Rivers story ends you will see her leave the doctor to go to the library......
how can they act wuthout the music id be on the floor lauhing so hard if i tried acting
*Spoilers*
who wants to bet Susan Foreman probably has been in that cot, but Moffat will ignore the fact that she even existed
@psxwarrior Sure he will, he's good at trying to erase things he doesn't like
For those worried about Moffat revealing the Doctor's name in the season finale, you should watch 2:48-3:20. It will put your mind at ease, trust me! And trust him.
2:48-3:20
I love her :)
I actually would have loved this !
The doctor did have children :x Doctor's Daughter, the Doctor references this to Donna.
Wow. Didn't expect that
wait, but wouldn't that mean that her name is song river, not river song?
I knew this from the first episode.
On saturday mornin i was just like ibet river is amys daughter then i was like no thats to far fatched then when river said she was their daughter i screamed i knew it really loud
The above comment is full of spoilers...
I think there are weird things about River Song. I think seeing their daughter as a middle aged woman wasn't such a big deal.
@riversong1235 Not River's first episode but the first one of the latest season.
oooh doctor, you sonicked her!
now becomes,
eww..doctor, you sonicked her!!!
@DoctorSayWhat1997 Messed up in translation from gallifrayan mabe?
@ericarevion I seriously doubt that Moffat would do that.
i just realized the doctor just left the cot there?
My mom ruined it for me, she looked it up on Wikipedia , I imagine how shocked I would have been if I waited till the episode, but no, mom tole me who she was, by cheating. It would've been more fun!
I flipped out and had to walk around a bit.
@wintervind I don't understand how she is a time lord plz explain it to me
@XchasingechoesXae Because the TARDIS sees all of time and space happening at once.
@Fektthis Uh, how did you figure out that the Doctor is the one that killed himself?
Why hasn't River been in a Christmas special... I think she should've still been there to meet clara, and maybe to give her hubby a friendly warning
Guess your wish was granted
I feel like besides Moffat, Alex has always been the one who knows the most out of the cast. Spoilers, baby.
lol River is supposed to be from the future :P thats Future Melody
Oh she is...
river and the doctor got married right so wouldn't that mean that Amy and Rory are the doctors Stepparents?
Bryon Whitworth not stepparents but mother and father in law
Bryon Whitworth love the look on Amy's face when she realizes that she is The Doctor's mother-in-law anyone know what episode that was 🙄🤔
E J the wedding of river song
I never understand what Moffat says when he tries to explain himself..
and futhermore, why would it be a surprise that the Doctor's had children? Everyone knows he had children, because he's had a canon granddaughter...
Really shocked me. Not as much as CJH saying he was the face of boe though
i dont understand when river says 'read it' to amy but then amy says she cant and then river says its cos its gallifreyan it wont translate. Well why tell her to read it the first place :/
Melody's DNA is human.... plus time lord. That means 11 is river's father... think about all they done together... lol
@laRUE118 Because Rory took Amy's surname.
agreed
I hope Series 7 wasn't the end of River =|
Why can't I hear this? :(
No it doesn't, It means that River was conceived when Rory and Any were in the Tardis, in the time vortex. Its a kids show, why would there be incest?
