River is my absolute favorite fictional character of all time and Alex Kingston is genius. I really wish they'd made a spin-off show with River as the main, or at least make her a more frequent cast member.
That's what the TARDIS meant when she said the only water flowing through the forest is a river. Got it. She was giving Rory and Amy the clue, not the Doctor.
I love how Alex refers to herself as River and River as herself... i understand cuz whenever i talk about a particular character i play, i use first person... sometimes i have to force myself to separate and talk about my character as separate from myself to explain them to others... but it makes me happy cuz i consider people and their characters a sort of the same person but different... like two sides of the same coin...
"How many babies have been in that cot?" Good question Alex. Especially since she felt sick like Amy in Impossible Astronaut...hmm...It's also one (granted, of several) reasons why she insists on not spending all her time with the Doctor. Plus, I've heard she's going to reveal a big secret soon, and really, there's not a terrible number of BIG secrets left - relatively, of course....
Alex Kingston: “It’s the Doctor’s cot, but is it only the Doctor’s cot…ummm, yes, that’s all I can say. How many babies have been in that cot, basically.” *Mind whovian working in the possibilities* O_O MOFFAT!! D:
4:52 This is the most important aspects of a secret, or a plot twist in any kind of story. And is something that J.J. Abrahams never understood with his stupid theory of the mistery box. Having a mistery is not enough, it must have a good development, it must have a good payoff and as complex as the mistery itself, and it must serve a puspose. That's why no one liked the ending of Lost, and why Star Wars 7 is such a mess, an ocean of intreeging misteries with no idea how to close them.
I don't get why Part 1, 6 and 7 of the River Song Confidentials haven been blocked due to copyright reasons. They're all BBC, aren't they? Just wondering. Besides that, I love River Song and Alex Kingston's on screen chemistry with Matt Smith is incredible! If I were Alex Kingston's husband, I'd be more than jealous! ;-)
*Gallifreyan Doctor's Cot Gallifreyan and Sherman's Gallifreyan are the closest we have to the type seen on the cot, but unfortunately the Gallifreyan seen in Doctor Who is just meant to look cool, not translate to something.
I try to put things together (from earlier storylines to present ones.), things that probably aren't there. and people are like it still doesn't make sense. Lol. People you just have to watch and pay attention. Everything fits. I understand, some what of Moffat's "logic."
Wouldnt it be crazy if River and the Doctor turn out to be Amy or Rorys parents and thats where she gets the Timelord gene because hers were "gone" until she just brought them back and his were never met...I doubt it but that would be so outta nowhere.
@wvboarder2005 quite impossible. mainly because as shown in big bang 2, at the ending it reveals that both of Amy's parents were swallowed by the crack of time, explaining why her house was so empty at the beginning of the series. after the cracks have been sealed, her parents came back. they didnt just come out of nowhere, they once existed, then removed from existence, then, after big bang 2 and the sealing of the cracks, existed as they always should have.
@wvboarder2005 River Song & The Doctor are not Amy's parents. River is. . . well, spoilers. I would suggest watching the episode Series 6 "A Good Man Goes to War".
.....how would that be possible!? You think River could be her own grandmother? Seriously? Did you even pay attention to this clip? Or to the episode where it explains how she is part Time Lord?
@bryony63 My account predates my involvement in the Doctor Who fandom. Unfortunately I can't change my username to something more appropriate for this channel. . .
eye patch lady apperently doesnt get her character because there is no "steamy sexuality" about it. and she takes it to turn her into a weapon not because shes a woman of a certain age who might just want a baby. hmmm what ever makes her play her character well.
when i first found out about river, i had to pause Doctor Who and take a moment to take it all in
"how many babies have been in that cot?" River felt nauseous in 'The Impossible Astronaut'. She had a desire for children during 'A Picnic at Asgard'
Ellen Blenkinsop What season is "a picnic at asgard" in?
@@oliviabrown9032 It's been mentioned multiple times when the Doctor and River compare diaries and timelines. It was made into a short story
Yeet
O B it’s one of the stories in the legends of river song book

Totally agree. A Riversong spinoff would have been very popular, but of course is not woke enough.
Big finish has a series of audioBooks with River as a Main Character and she even meets some classic doctors
@@Scottlp2 Yeah, River is underated.. Idk why-
All these years later and I still tear up when River tells Amy that she’s her daughter 😪
Same

Star Wars : I'm your father !
Doctor Who : I'm your daughter !
When will it stop ?! :D

MOFFAT!! D:
He had been a father and a grandfather, now he's neither but he's still the Doctor.
Very interesting to watch those scenes from a totally different angle, w/ cameras and everything.
I absolutely love Alex kingstons character
This women Alex Kingston is just beautiful. Such a warm person^^ I'd love to have a cup of tea with her sometimes.
The I'm Melody scene still brings tears to my eyes :'D
Love the confidentials

Quick!! someone who can translate Galafry, translate the name in the craddle!!

Imagine it just translates to Bob
this episode was so epic!!!

omg i think river and the doctor is going to have a baby
Wait... so was River legitimately confused as to who the little girl was in the space suit?
@CasualtyFan101 Good to hear I'm not the only person who tries to guess the plotlines of DW! My family think I'm obsessed...

I adore what you've said.
I want to marry Alex Kingston

I really hope that in some future episode they have a younger River played by a different (but just as great actress).
Thanks 4 posting this.
@MsDoctorWhoFan1 Yeah, same here. Moffat puts the clues in in weird ways, but you can see them if you know they're there.
Without the patch mad dame kovarians other eye looks weird
@xSmileyFlowerx You're very welcome!
@TheSeverusSnape Uh, the reveal is actually spoiled in this clip...
I think I just understood that the Melody Pond/River song is basically The Face of Boe/Capt Jack Harkness.
Good Question.
@littlemissruth15 Oh, that's just how Karen Gillan normally is. Always a bit awkward. ; )
@wvboarder2005 River Song & The Doctor are not Amy's parents. River is. . . well, spoilers. I would suggest watching the episode Series 6 "A Good Man Goes to War".
Amazing!!! :)
12yrs later and I still don't have a clue to what the doctor's name is...
.....how would that be possible!? You think River could be her own grandmother? Seriously? Did you even pay attention to this clip? Or to the episode where it explains how she is part Time Lord?
Am I the only person who guessed who River was before AGMGTW?
@jenfirelight My pleasure. ; )
@bryony63 My account predates my involvement in the Doctor Who fandom. Unfortunately I can't change my username to something more appropriate for this channel. . .
Of course not, it was her! She would've remembered. But she had to play the part.
is it just me or does karen gillan sound like she isn't very impressed she's just putting it on?
@slightlyinsaneFTW Same here. We're not, we are just more observant :)
@TheSeverusSnape except that if wvboarder2005 actually watched this video she'd know the answer anyway, but i approve of your answer ^_^
I KNEW IT!!!!!! HA!HA! That's Fantastic!
haha, its weird to see all of it without music. Wouldnt it make it easier to act while hearing the music?? Makes you more emotional, doesnt it?
@slightlyinsaneFTW No, I guessed ep 1 of S6 xD

hailzmarie1 I thought she said 'stealy sexuality'
I want a story about The Gamma Forrests.
is it just me, or does the lady with the eye patch look like an older version of river?
@CasualtyFan101 :D have you seen Let's Kill Hitler yet?
More like writing the pray leaf 3 inches awayyyoh
she is fun 😁bgt was on the other side a bad year dr who beat Simon Cowell 😁
They're twins! And they're lovers! Kinky!
amy and rorys that would mean they are brother and sister
(this is a late comment but still here)
Would ljve to hear how you got to that conclusion
Hi, what is the name of the song at the beginning? thanks(:
