I think it just boils down to simple numbers more than anything. Bray was making bank for them. However he's been gone for long periods. It comes to a point where you'll look at the cost of investment for cost of returns. While he's there the investment is solid and time off is fine for a character like The Fiend but long periods that revenue you're making the company will eventually die down and dry up. That is when they're going to go is it worth it to keep him on? How much are we paying his ass to sit home? 1 million a year. You're gone that is wasted money that could be spent on like 3-4 NXT guys you can make the next big thing if done the proper work.

My guess is his ex wife didn't believe him when he told her he made X amount of dollars. He probably offered a settlement that came off as low to her considering his popularity at the time in 2017. So her attorneys subpoenaed WWE into court to account for every cent he received from his upside to merchandise sales to PPV royalties, etc. She wanted an accurate accounting of all his earnings. And WWE would have preferred to stay out of that mess.
They subpoena documents which Bray would have copies of anyway. He’s still an independent contractor so he has an actual contact. Also that other information will turn up in their joint tax return which I’m assuming means someone “accidentally” filed them wrong

I don't think it is any big secret that it took him too long to come back because he couldn't get out from under mourning Brodie Lee. He has been in a constant state of mourning since He Died.
He might as well be injury prone in Vince's eyes. We all saw how Vince soured on Zayn and Finn when they got injured in their debuts. Hell it took Finn over 2 years to get a one on one rematch for the title that he never lost.

Wyatt family was great a unique gimmick in an era where it’s hard to be Wyatt was great on the mic And Luke Harper was awesome. If wwe wasn’t blind they would have added Harper to the Wyatt vs Randy match. I don’t know many big men that moved like Luke Harper in the ring very underrated wrestler.

It sucks that IP contributions aren't better quantified (and PAID OUT ON) aside from "whatever you think while employed here belongs to us", there should be a full stop Think Tank (gimmicks, angles, matches, catchphrases, etc) for people like Bray to have been able to contribute to, get paid for, and still remain enough in the loop and good standing to be able to have more personal negotiable control so long as personal merch is moving. Imagine letting someone like Bray, while home rehabbing, flesh out YEARS of character for someone like Theory. I think it just boils down to simple numbers more than anything. Bray was making bank for them. However he's been gone for long periods. It comes to a point where you'll look at the cost of investment for cost of returns. While he's there the investment is solid and time off is fine for a character like The Fiend but long periods that revenue you're making the company will eventually die down and dry up. That is when they're going to go is it worth it to keep him on? How much are we paying his ass to sit home? 1 million a year. You're gone that is wasted money that could be spent on like 3-4 NXT guys you can make the next big thing if done the proper work.
I don't blame Joe for keeping up with who the girls are dating. If I was him I would've been shot my shot with Bayley and I'm waiting on Alexa to break up with her dude. 🤷🏾♂️

My guess is his ex wife didn't believe him when he told her he made X amount of dollars. He probably offered a settlement that came off as low to her considering his popularity at the time in 2017. So her attorneys subpoenaed WWE into court to account for every cent he received from his upside to merchandise sales to PPV royalties, etc. She wanted an accurate accounting of all his earnings. And WWE would have preferred to stay out of that mess.
