- Опубликовано: 15 авг 2018
- As an Aviation Machinist’s Mate (AD), you are in charge of the biggest engines in the world. Test, repair and overhaul everything from helicopter rotors to turbojet engines on the F-35C Lightning II. From day one you’ll be turning wrenches and watching F-18 afterburners light up in jet test cells. After a few years as an AD, you can even get your license to work as an aircraft mechanic in the civilian world. This is one of the most hands-on aviation jobs out there. Learn more at bit.ly/2oFney3.
My dad was an aviation machinist mate in WW2. He was mechanical and electrical most of his life. He was with telephone company 37 and half years. He would be 97 in August. He lived to be 68. I'm 73.
🫂❤️❤️
"When i joined the military they said I could have any rate I wanted to" sure, so long as you qualify and it's available, but other than that yeah

JG PeRfecTioN oh hell yeah man see you there

@@jgperfection9146 I head down to the hotel on the 11th. Then go to meps and fly out on the 12th also going as an AD that’d be sick if all 3 of us were shipping together haha

I wanted to CB but jobs weren't available so I signed my 4 year yesterday for AD and currently waiting on my ship date
Pfft I tried CB as well and no luck. I’m also looking at AD. What are the odds
I was an AD when I was in the Navy , I worked on fa-18c my squadron was vfa-82 from 1988-1992

Mauraders nice.

@@ryanturner9778 How did you do on the ASVAB?
@@isai9054 I got a 63
Wanted to be a sea bee. But jobs weren’t available. I got a 73 on asvab and knew I qualified for something more advanced. AD sounded like the job for me. I ship in august as an AD. Pretty stoked to see what the future holds.
Congrats man! I got a 78 and chose AD as well. See you out there!
Best of luck to you Kaden!

233 dislikes comes from AEs.
Are you an AD?
@@dustinshane3060 Was. Worked O-Level maint. Fun times!
GawdAz3s any chance I could get your contact. I’m intrigued and would like to speak with some sailors who actually had that rate
@@dustinshane3060what do you mean by getting my contract? As in getting recruited as an AD? If so then, the rate itself is open from what i know since before i left, the navy was giving away re-enlistment bonus for it.
@@gawdaz3s339 Would you recommend AD, AM, or AME if i was looking to get a job at a company like Lockheed Martin?
How long do you need to work in the Navy to get an A&P license?
As soon as you get to the fleet, you can start to rack up the hours you worked. When you get 5000 working hours, you just have to take 3-5 tests and you can get your A&P license
@@doritogoddess192 nah. You need 30 months time in rate.
Why do these videos have so much dislikes??
What would your ASVAB score have to be in order to qualify or be considered for Aviation machinists mate?
The overall is not so much important, but you need a Line score of ( VE+AR+MK+AS = 210) OR (VE+AR+MK+MC=210) I am studying for this rate aswell. Good luck to you sir, i myself am not naturally gifted with mathematics, so it's a bit of a struggle right now for me.
terriblelottery same here man that’s why I’m worried, I’m pretty strong in everything else except math, I can listen to an engine or anything mechanical and point out what’s wrong with it. I’m going to study really hard because it’s been a while since I’ve been in school, also thank you and good luck to you as well.
ScreamingAirborne yeah man I’ve been out of school for a while too working in manufacturing. But I know now it’s time for a change. I think this is a really good job and they say you can get your A&P while IN the navy which is really cool. Keep studying man and don’t give up because I know how it is sometimes I feel like giving up because my math skills are so bad.., but the more time you put in the easier it gets. You got this💪
For these particular MOS you have to get between a 50 to 55 on your asvab
for what its worth i got 83 on my ASVAB and this is the rate i got. shipping out in september!
When I joined the navy in 84 but had 6 month hold enlistment so I went in 1985, joined ad an ad & loved working the flight deck on 3 carriers as a ad/ts/flightdeck safety officer/ reclamation squad team leader I had a blast but we had our hard times also, wouldn't change it for the world.
I bet that was a hard job but you could handle it. Best wishes.
Have fun in the line shack
Lineshack work is easy af
Let day check lower me down in my grave, So they can let me down one last time.
this is great. I would love to be hands on too with planes and try for my A&P License
Also ADs can preform the duites of Flight engineers (AW) as well too
not anymore
When did it change?
@@sladetuner8661 they don't need ADs for flight when they already have Aircrew this was back in the day thing you could volunteer
Okay
Our 17 year old just signed for this job when he ships out next year after graduation. My dad was one in Vietnam, and we are so excited for him!
Wishing your son the best. Is he mechanical minded? Best wishes.

When I joined this was the rate I wanted. Wasn't open so I got forced,to pick something else. Still makes me sad I never got it lol. Knowing the Navy it was probably some EO bs and wasn't open to certain skin colors or gender.
11 year mech greatest rate in the navy
