She started in 1917 as child actress and continued her career by becoming a little older.
Loretta Young died in 2000 in the era of the DVD.
Her film career began in 1917. The last film with her voice was released on television screens in 1994. It was Life Along the Mississippi.
The flourishing of her career was in the Golden Age of Hollywood. She starred in almost a hundred films.
Loretta Young played lovely girls and ladies in romantic comedies and melodramas.
She worked with Clark Gabble in the film The Call of the Wild. As she confessed much later to her daughter-in-law, married Gable raped her and she had a daughter, Judith Young (Lewis).
The fact of Gable's paternity was not officially recognized, but his resemblance to Yang's daughter can hardly be denied.
Loretta was married twice and had else two sons.

Very very underrated beauty. She is not mentioned very often when they discuss the all-time beautiful women of Hollywood. But she should be. She was a gorgeous woman.

A beautiful woman to the end of her life. My favorite photos of her are in the early 1930s from films Taxi, Midnight Mary, Employees Entrance. She was so pretty 1931 - 1936. It's a joy just to watch her in those early films and I admire her performances for being only 18, 19 and 20 years old. I wish you had slowed down the film to really see how pretty she was in the early 1930s.

LORETTA YOUNG was always a good ACTRESS and exceptional beautiful and likeable MOVIE & TV STAR whose career was interrupted unjustly by some young college graduates in charge of NBC T.V.

Loretta Young's career from the days of silent films up into the 1990's may only be equaled by the career of Lilian Gish.--In its early days television was a threat to Hollywood and if a Hollywood star worked in television it was considered a step down. When Loretta Young had her own television show she made the new medium work for her. I heard or read somewhere that in television Loretta Young had the opportunity to play a wider variety of characters than she could play in Hollywood. Too television also gave her what was probably a wider audience than movies did and on a regular basis.---I haven't seen many of her films but the one I liked best was maybe called "The Stranger" and co-starred Orson Welles, a chilling movie about discovering that someone is horrifyingly the opposite of what you thought.

I'm having to stop action every few seconds. you're throwing up images faster than the eye can process.

I’m sorry, but you never walked in her shoes! You have no idea what she had to go through during that time in Hollywood. Hollywood is a lot different now. Unless you have walked where she walked, it’s not right that you criticize her. Plus you don’t have all the background to judge someone. “Judging a person does not define who they are….it defines who you are.”
