I feel like I’m in a huge minority in thinking Levy has been absolutely brilliant. I dont believe there is another chairman out there who could have grown the club as he has with the resources at our disposal.
If you’d have told us us in 2001 (when Levy took over and we routinely used to finish 14th-17th below Bolton, West Ham, Leeds, Villa, Middlesbrough, Fulham etc in a worn out 36k white hart lane) that we’d be finishing above Arsenal, Chelsea, Man Utd, even Klopp’s Liverpool and Pep’s City at times in the best stadium in the world we’d have all thought you were batshit crazy! Champions League looked a universe away when we had a wage cap of 40k/wk for Ledley.
    Onwards & upwards!! COYS

I agree in part he has made mistakes with signings but considering we was at best a mid table team when he took over a world part in rep and financial power to the likes of Utd, Liverpool and Arsenal plus Chelsea and City getting billionaire owners to be able to build a club that can challenge them without getting the massive amounts of cash the other got is a great achievement

I have said similar in the past. I said after the opening of the stadium that Levy has let the genie out of the bottle and tottenham are now a massive club. Between match revenue, sponsors, and TV payments, they can compete with the biggest clubs. He has transformed this club. We just need success on the park to go to the next level. COYS

I wonder how long before you see a "Levy Out" comment? There have been mistakes along the way, but the key changes are the stadium and getting in a support team to build on the base that turns us from an also ran to a winner. Let's not forget the near fiasco over managers that we brought in who obviously did not fit his grand strategy. Ange could be the missing piece in the puzzle. On the other hand younger fans will not know just how close we came to melt down before Alan Sugar came along. He saved us from Rober Maxwell, revamped WHL and brought in Levy. Off the pitch we have come a very long way, but the Levy Out shouters don't see this in the round. But they are right to agitate for trophies; time to deliver.

@@richardhand8004 he has absolutely made some mistakes with signings, but who hasn’t?! Especially when for that whole period we had to shop at the 3rd or 4th level for players because any top talents were signing for Chelsea, Man U, Real etc. That means virtually EVERY signing was a risk of sorts.
For every Grealish, Willian or Hazard missed there was a Bale, Modric, Eriksen, Toby A, Vertonghen, Mousa Dembele, Danny Rose, Aaron Lennon, Rafa Van der Vaart, Berbatov, Edgar Davids, Carrick, you get my drift…
It simply boils down to this: if it was EASY to go from where we were to where we are, all the other clubs above us at the time would have done it too. We are the ONLY ONES who have gone from bottom-half relegation battles to REGULAR 3/4/5th place finishes WITHOUT the savage investment of a sugar daddy. Arsenal, Liverpool were already up there competing for UCL. Chelsea, Newcastle, Man City, Man U all had the benefit of billions. Sure Leicester won the PL but have hardly established themselves as a top 6 club. And for Levy to do all that whilst funding the build of the most epic stadium - a proud home for the next 100 yrs - is simply staggering! IMHO…

You can't buy a ready made Man City within FFP guidelines. Tottenham are betting large on building a world class squad over time. Last year's squad was an improvement Kane excluded. Peresic was also a loss. Hence, plenty of work put into signing world class wingers currently ongoing.. Strikers don't fall from trees so take time to sign. Many clamour for Toney, but can't see Ange buying the character.
Then, look at the youth. Bergval, Gray, Moore, Sarr, Udogie, Johnson MVDV, Phillips, Kulu, Vuskavic, Dragusin Dorrington, Donley, Lankshear, potentially Doue.
Moaners complain of a rebuild kicking the can down the road, but 5 of those are regular starters, & at least 8 will play regularly in the upcoming season. So the nucleus of the future is already imbedded in the first team, & potentially with a fit Neto a trophy is within reach next season.

I always find it funny on the football side Levy has made some major mistakes. But now levy has almost reformed himself and there seems to be a clear plan from the board and levy only seems to negotiate when someone has gone to him and said we want this player. I think all the noise and negativity are so built into some people that its just second nature at this point. I think at the end of the day if you cant get excited about this project whats the point of even following spurs.

An older25 to 28yo in form striker and with Richie that’s a rounded forward line. I noticed hardly mentioned was Maddison and if he gets back to early last season form, there is the midfield leader. The backline is set. This squad would be close to ready to compete now and into the future.

You two are so similar and so polar opposites. It's great to watch. I warch every video Ali does with his 'on air' sign over his shoulder but Rob Guest is seemingly more astute, yet both he and Ali would probably still come to agree about who should play, be sold, be introduced, etc as they tell the same positive vibe about the direction and potential of the club. They just do it in different ways.
However, I actually think you both might have understated the potential that could be coming to fruition if a couple of stars align. If Eze signs for us, we will be challenging for silverware, especially if the new young recruits can bring their potential to the occasion each time they play 1st team football.
What we have to hope for is that all of the potential, and I dont just mean the Pape Sarr Van De Ven type of ones. Or the Bergvall, Gray new signings, but the likes of Lankshear, Donley, Abbott, Dorrington, Santiago, Moor, and others also. This is the crop that is expanding, and it has to get put up against Beckham Scholes Giggs Butt and the Neville brothers. There are more of them with the same potential that crop of " You'll never win anything with kids " generation had. There is every chance that if you take all the possible talents that are currently at Spurs and get them to live up to their potential, then there is no reason why we couldn't more than match that famous Man U. squad.
Anyhow, I am rambling on, but thats what I believe, and you only really alluded to how good they could be. Their potential is massive.

I'm at the point where we need a striker and an RW. No disrespect to Johnson, if you're hunting trophies, you can't start Johnson or Kulusevski. We need speed with a touch on the right side. Sonny needs to be put back on the left, and with a new striker up top, that opens up so many chances. I love Archie Gray and Madders, but that's only 50% of the equation. We must figure out our back line. We were a liability giving up 2v1 and 3v1 chances, and we were terrible defending set pieces.. I'm still luke warm with Ange, but I'm open minded

2 weak positions, or we need cover for, IMO, are left back/centre back & centre forward. It’ll be interesting to see how we address that.
For me, I can’t see the point in taking Eze, regardless of how good he is, when we already have decent players in his position.
Surely weaknesses need to be addressed first?

I know Mikey Moore is too young to go on loan as an English player & he needs to be signed first anyway. Not sure about Tyrese Hall's eligibility. Donley needs playing minutes so a good loan in the championship is Important for his development.
