I think this is your best video yet. Love the way you unselfishly showcase other people's boats ,and the human interest stories are great. But I love the different boats. No other channel does this.
Thanks Robert I'm always trying to be a bit different, thanks for watching, cheers Paul
Paul, thank you for your excellent videos. You’re the only guy that actually features multiple dinghies, sailed in your raids, in lakes along the coastline. I’m a retired vet with many questions about cruising dinghies. I have a good book by Roger Barnes; however, that you actually feature your friends and give brief descriptions of their boats is wonderful. Thanks again from…East Tennessee.
Thanks again Papa J, cheers Paul
Dinghy cruising wonderful wow great video. 😎
Thanks David and thanks for taking the time to leave a comment , it all helps, cheers Paul
The wife and I really enjoy sailing vicariously through this channel. Thanks Paul.
My pleasure and I'm glad your wife likes them too...not many do, thanks for watching, cheers Paul
Very nice to see interesting solutions on the boats.
Every boat is different, thanks again for watching, cheers Paul
It's always a joy to go sailing with you. Thanks for taking us along.
Thanks mate, I hope it wasn't too long, cheers Paul
As you say and I say sailing is so good for the soul.im in NZ and built my Wellsford Houdini with my son 10 years ago.sadly I have to sell her.age and to many operations have caught up with me.i get so much enjoy ment from your videos.thanks .keep them coming.cheers.
Thanks mate, sorry to hear you had to sell you Houdini. Check out Small Craft Tasmania on the latest video Mat meets up with a guy who has just sailed around Tasmania in a Houdini. Thanks for watching, cheers Paul
that trailer yacht looks like a Frank Pelin Caribou design
Yep thanks Jeff a few have said that I'll pass it onto Jacob, thanks for watching, cheers Paul
Great to see everyone again and thanks Paul for all your time and expertise spent in producing a wonderful video. Great ambassador for dinghy cruising.
Thanks Dave for those kind words, I also like reliving the fun, cheers Paul
orlovus looks like a Frank Pelin Caribou design
Thanks Jeff someone else said the same, thanks for watching , cheers Paul
Paul Thank you very much for a wonderful video. Great photography and music. Engaging chat with lovely people. You also focused on a range of boats we havent seen before. Particularly interstate visitors and Bolger and Oughtred boats. These designers are well know to small boat tradgics. Whilst I cannot get away or out on the water much these days your videos make it like being there for armchair sailors. Well done to the oranisers of the "unofficial" National dinghy cruising rally. Cheers Bruce Gregor
My pleasure Bruce and thanks for those kind words. All feedback is welcome and keeps me enthused about the next one, cheers Paul
Beautiful episode ! Thank for sharing. Hello from The Netherlands, Marco
Thanks Marco I'm glad you enjoyed and I hope it wasn't too long, thanks again for watching, cheers Paul
Thanks for having us along! I might have to watch that one again! As always great video, thanks for sharing and cheers Paul! Nice boats!! ⛵⛵⛵
Thanks James, I'm sorry it's a bit long but it was 5 days. Thanks again for your continued encouragement, cheers Paul
@@SailingKateLouise It wasn't too long. I was mowing the lawn and came in for some water and took a well enjoyed break! 🤣👍⛵⛵⛵
@@jamessandman3708 I try and avoid mowing the lawn by sailing....ha.ha
Disappointed I couldn’t be there, but very much enjoyed the raid vicariously through your great video. Thanks Paul.
@@SailingKateLouise Ha Ha ha!!! You are a wise man Paul! 🤣

I'm a bit late to see this one but what a great video! Great narration, great footage, great editing. Top quality.
Thanks mate, cheers Paul
A hug from Brazil, to everyone who participated in this wonderful tour😍
Thanks Claudio, please share with your sailing friends, and thanks for taking the time to leave a comment, cheers Paul
very interesting video ,love how you speak to the owners to get a little background on each boat thats what makes it so enjoyable , smart editing little piece of info here and there to keep us glued to the screen watching 😂👏👏
Oh I like glued to the screen....thanks for watching and the feedback , it's always hard to make them interesting but different, cheers Paul
Lovely video, thank you Paul.
Thanks John for watching and leaving a comment, cheers Paul
Excellent thanks Paul, great to relive the trip on a rainy day.
Yep it's pouring here, thanks for making it fun as always, cheers Paul
Thanks for filming and editing this wonderful adventure. It was my first but I'll certainly be back for more! Such a friendly and helpful group.
My pleasure, but from your handle I don't know who you are....but thanks for coming and having fun, cheers Paul
Another good one Paul thanks for sharing mate, when I finish my boat I may join you guys one day Cheers.
Please do Jeff the more the merrier, cheers Paul
Thanks Paul from springtime in Canada. Your best yet. Special compliments from the missus on your photography, particularly (especially?!) the bits without boats! Great job, mate.
Thanks Jim and thanks to your missus for watching....not many do, mine needs persuading, thanks again , cheers Paul
Nice way to start the day. Dingoes have been known to board boats at anchor in the great sandy strait. Sleep peacefully!
Oh thanks Chris....makes me feel so much safer. The own I did encounter, was while I was in a hammock 2ft off the ground at 4 in the morning. It howled like a wolf and scared the living daylights out of me. After what seemed like hours ( probably 30 secs) It turned and walked away. I think I was on his normal trail and he wasn't happy. Thanks again for watching and leaving a comment...stay warm winter is coming, cheers Paul
great job getting all those boats together guys. you're gonna need a bigger lake!
Thanks Mat, I hope it's not getting too chilly down there, cheers Paul
@@SailingKateLouise yeah, terrible weather down here Paul...(it's perfect, but shhhh...don't tell anyone...) Mat & Jo ⚓👍
Thanks for making this video ... I enjoyed it so much I've watched it twice! 🙏
Wow Francis, that's a commitment it's 46 min long...thank you, cheers Paul
one of your best videos
Thanks Peter, sorry if it was a bit long but quite a lot happened over 5 days, thanks for watching, cheers Paul
Thanks Paul for another great video. Once again I must say your editing is superb. The ending bit was something I've not seen before. Very clever.
Thanks mate....I won't tell you how long it took to animate, thanks for watching, cheers Paul
Thanks Paul, a very good account of our adventure! Thanks for your efforts to produce this and it was a pleasure to meet you too!
Thanks and thanks for coming along and I know it the video was long so hopefully you made it to the end. See you somewhere on the water next time....cheers Paul
Yes, made it to the end twice so far!! Sharing it with friends too. Preparing myself to strip the boat of its paint and start it with new. She’ll look a bit different when it’s done. See on the water some time.
Great video Paul it was great recapping on a wonderful time away spent with great people. Thanks very much for your time and effort on putting these memories on video. Cheers Steve
My pleasure Steve, thank you for coming and making it a success, cheers Paul
A great representation of the week. Was good to see how you all got on after I left. Thanks for sharing the film.
My pleasure Josh , thanks for organising, cheers Paul
Paul! Love the Sail! I just got back from a weeklong camp on the river where we hit the river in the Kayak!!
That is awesome! do you mean Myall river? I've done that in a Kayak, thanks for watching, cheers Paul
This was nice with all different boats on display!
Yes I haven't seen a Wee Seal or West White Potter before, cheers Paul
Enjoyed the vid Paul. A longer sail with some really nice boats, particularly Kevin's Wee Seal and the story with it.
Glad you enjoyed it Dale thanks for watching, cheers Paul
Thanks yet again Paul for another great sailing and memory making trip
Thanks Dave and thanks for leaving a comment, cheers Paul
Great episode Paul. I love the diversity of boats. Just shows you can have fun in almost any boat!
That's right, thanks again for watching, cheers Paul
Really interesting to see the Kombi canoe. I am planning to make some outriggers for my similar boat, so I will study the images closely. 🙂
Hi Lee , Chris used plans form Michael Storer for his outriggers, thanks for watching, cheers Paul
A great cruising video showing an eclectic mix of boats and their varied owners. Well done
Thanks again Paul.....cheers Paul
Excellent stuff. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks again for watching, cheers Paul
I've just started on this vlog today, but before I continue I want to compliment you for your introduction on every vlog. I admire it every time I start one of your vlogs. Good editing and mix and beautifull pictures. 👍
Thanks again Bent for watching. I hope it's beginning to warm up where you are, cheers Paul
Wow, thank you! Bent , cheers Paul
Spring is not appearing y’et in Denmark. It shuld Be here now, but We still have one digit temperatures (celsius)
Hreetings from Bent
Wonderful job Paul. The diversity of boats, people and landscape makes viewing a pleasure. I also enjoy seeing what you cook up. We make espresso and cappuccino aboard and I’m sure you’re aware that you’re drinking around 4 shots in your morning cup. Plenty of caffeine to keep you productive.
Thanks Jonathon, yep start the day firing....though it's probably not good for me, but I only have one a day. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment, cheers Paul
If the man is missing a shackle, I know exactly where it is 13:07 😂Great episode like always!
🤣🤣🤣 very good, thanks for watching, cheers Paul
Another goodie Paul l many thanks for your efforts..
Thanks Paul and thanks for leaving a comment, cheers Paul
Ah Paul, stunning video. I learn so much about film making from you every time I watch your videos. We really enjoyed our time down there. I reckon I probably could have handled the Tuesday after seeing your video but it did look a bit wild in the channel so pulling out at the ramp would have been interesting. I need to work on a boom tent to cover my cabin hatch and cockpit, then Luna will be self sufficient for living aboard. See you next time.
Thanks Jason and thanks for making the trip, I know it's a long way and we all appreciated the effort you and Rob made. Hopefully we can get up to Moreton bay before the end of the year, cheers Paul
Thanks for sharing. I delayed watching for a while trying to find a time when I would be less jealous watching, but I didn’t find one…
oh shame....but you watched anyway thanks Rob, cheers Paul
Proper mega-sode there Paul! Good to see some Bolger boats.
Yep it was hard to keep it short with so much happening and 5 days. Also my first time with Bolger boats. Thanks again for watching and leaving a comment, cheers Paul
Great video!!!!!! As usual makes me want to move there to the down under!!!
Hi Arthur, well there is always room for one more, thanks for watching and leaving a comment, cheers Paul
Thanks Arthur, there is always room for one more, cheers Paul
Oh my! what a Fleet - no - Armada you have there. You and your mates will soon have to find a bigger lake! Great footage as always - thanks for your camera work Paul! - R
Thanks Paul , yes seems to be growing every day. There are lots of people out there that love sailing and I'm sure would love to join in the fun without having to join a club, cheers Paul
Another spectacular video mate! Love your work. Kudos also on spreading your gourmet meals featuring meat alternatives. I've been vegetarian for well over a decade and am always surprised that more people don't see all the benefits. Good on ya mate! Happy cruising and cuisining.😂
Thanks John. I must say I don't really miss meat unless I'm walking past cooking bacon, the smell ....it must be something primeval Thanks for watching and taking the time to leave a comment, cheers Paul
Great video Paul, well done 😊 Was just thinking it would be great to get your impressions on how the other boats sail compared to Kate Louise, but understand it might be a big ask to sail other peoples boats. Great to see such a range!
Hi Pete, it is a bit tricky sailing other peoples boats when you are going somewhere but I can which ones are faster. Thanks for watching, cheers Paul
That it might 😊 Hope to join you lot one day. Got my Pocketship waiting for some sail covers for towing. I also need to get my skill level and experience up in local waters here in Vic before I start tackling NSW.
Lovely video thanks Paul
Glad you enjoyed it Col and thanks again for watching, cheers Paul
Enjoyed the video as always. My kind of sailing! Thanks for identifying the various boat designs, I make note of them. One day I’ll have my own. Best to you!
Well when you do send me a photo, thanks for watching, cheers Paul
Fantastic viewing Paul. I suspect Jacobs "Orlovus" might be a Pelin Caribou 17 or maybe 20 ft. I helped my father build a 20 in the late 70's
Thanks I'll pass that onto Jacob, cheers Paul
Hey mate, that's my boat. I think it is! Thanks for sharing.
I'm guessing that the Bolger Martha Jane named Shirley Valentine is the same one that Graham built in Camden South about 1995. He called it Shirley Valentine. It originally was dark green with tan sails. I lived 4 doors away and used to go down and watch the progress. He loved that boat. He called it his masterpiece. I thought it was a bit weird at the time, boxy, square, leeboards, not looking like most sailboats I knew.
Wow small world, a great story I'll pass that onto Pete the new owner. Yes it's an interesting shape but goes fast in light winds and strong. Thanks for watching, cheers Paul
Hi I've contacted Pete the new owner of Shirley Valentine and he would love to get in contact with Graham who you said built it, any idea of his surname or contact details? email me at sailingkatelouise@gmail.com cheers Paul
A great video to watch on a rainy Saturday morning at Lake Mac! you're making me jealous though. I'm keen to get out there with you blokes.
Anytime, just check the events Tab on Facebook for the next one, cheers Paul
Great video again Paul with wonderful sailing.
Thanks Scott....get that rigging finished!... soon, cheers Paul
Great Video! I really enjoy seeing the different boat designs and the slow, easy sailing! Most of my friends like to race, but I just want to enjoy the sailing at my own pace. It's fun to see all of the camping equipment you have too. I'm going to have to get one of those portable coffee pots you have! I just purchased an old, wooden sailboat that will be on my RUclips channel soon, so go over and take a look in a few days.
Will do what's the name of your channel? and send me a photo of your boat to sailingkatelouise@gmail.com cheers Paul
Great watch as usual… nice finally getting to meet. Wild ride in the Potter back from Korsmans landing.. hehe
Yes it did get a bit hairy. Hopefully we will catch up again and I can have a good look at the West Wight Potter,. Thanks for making the effort to come down all this way, cheers Paul
Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching, cheers Paul
Yep. The top end of town.
Thanks Gary, cheers Paul
Another great episode. I like the ones with Sydney Raid the best. Will you guys ever do a raid around Sydney harbor?
Yes I think so, but probably a week day as it's less busy, thanks for watching, cheers Paul
I did need this. We are in spring here in North America, but you would never know it. It's been a cold and wet one, with almost an additional 20 cm of rain above our normal yearly amount. It was also 10 degrees above freezing today, so not the kind of weather you think for getting the dinghy out. I just need a few days to replace a broken stringer on my Series 1 Gp14, and then I can head out again. Hopefully the new smaller "working" jib instead of a lapper will make her a little less headstrong.
I'm glad it filled the need, send me a photo if you haven't already when you hit the water and thanks again for watching, cheers Paul
Great video merçi !
Many thanks!, cheers Paul
We had every intention of joining that cruise. Unfortunately work commitments didn’t allow.
The time will come though.
Hartley 16.
Ian and Milly. Gippsland Lakes, Victoria.
No worries, I also wanted to get down to Paynesville this year but couldn't make it...maybe next year. Thanks for watching, cheers Paul
39:46. That looked a Fantail, we have here in NZ. Aussie relative ? Laurie. NZ 😊
I'm sorry I don't really Know my Aussie birds....(coming from the old country) but I do love waking up to the morning chorus. Thanks for watching, cheers Paul
Yes it is a grey fantail and yes related to NZ birds - quite likely originally from Oz when it was closer. Several NZ birds are related or descended from Oz birds. Like the Takahe and Morkpork / mopoke owl
@@DWilks-fo1ze wow we have a mopoke I can hear every night...very calming, cheers Paul
Hi, I enjoy your sailing adventures very much. I have a bay raider expedition. It is a 20 feet swallow yacht boat.
May I ask you what kind of cameras do you use?
Lucky man Raider expedition , very nice boat....I haven't seen one here yet. I use mainly a Panasonic WAX30 unfortunately they are not made anymore. It has a pistol style grip which makes it easier to hold than a Go Po, great sound, zoom, flip out screen and it's waterproof. I don't know what I will do when it eventually dies. Thanks you for watching and send me a photo of your boat to sailingkatelouise@gmail.com cheers Paul
hi Paul, i could google i guess, but what do the "aft" sails do? reason i ask is that i notice you adjust the fwd sails, however never seem to mess with the aft one. cheers, Frank from Sydney PS: what do you have a pool noodle for ;) ?
Hi well the mizzen balances the boat and I do adjust it all the time but you are right I have never filmed it....probably because it's hard to hold the camera and turn around to tighten the tack. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment, cheers Paul
Paul I love your videos. Out of my curiosity your burgee with yellow cross on red looks to me like Romeo sign in international flag code. Does it means somenthing? All the best from Poland! M
Hi Marcin, yes it's the code R flag and as we are the Raid Sydney group we have adopted the R flag, But it's also the regional flag for Skone in Sweden. Thanks for watching and taking the time to leave a comment. If you like dinghy cruising check out my other videos there are 86, cheers Paul
How long a go was this gathering ?
2 weeks ago, it took me 4 days to edit 45 mins and the best time for me to post is the weekend so I had to wait 6 days. Going back to Myall Lakes on the 30th with some more interstate sailors , keep your eye out for that one, cheers Paul
How do you sleep in that noise from the animals, ear plugs?
Sometimes in summer the cicadas are so loud, it's like white noise but they usually stop at night, also yes the frogs were loud, cheers Paul
Hello Paul !!!! My name is Thiago, could I ask wha'ts name of this boat? I mean, where can I find these plans to buy? I'ts awesome and beautiful :O
Hi Thiago, my boat is a Stornaway 18 designed by Derek Ellard and built in Australia. They come as a DIY kit in marine ply. They will be built soon in the U.S. by No Coast Boatworks. Thanks for watching, cheers Paul
Thankyou soo much for reply!, Can you make a video to explain how works the drain system of cockpit and cabin?@@SailingKateLouise
@@ThiagueraPlay Hi there is no self draining cockpit or cabin, so a bucket or bailer is needed if you take on water. However the plans have been updated and the newer version has a self draining cockpit and water ballast and a few other improvements, cheers Paul
I laugh every time that the cruise fails to attract a single female.😀
Hi Mick, there were 2 but we could do with more, cheers Paul
Beautiful episode ! Thank for sharing. Hello from The Netherlands, Marco
Glad you enjoyed it! Marco thanks for watching, cheers Paul
