  • Did you know ISRO rockets have water tanks on them? they are a blue color round toroidal tank. Why does the GSLV have a water tank? Why does ISRO PSLV have a water tank on it? The reason is the Vikas engine. Why does Vikas Engine need water? Vikas engine powered the GSLV MK3 that took Chandryaan 2 to the moon. #ISRO

    When water turns from a liquid to a gas its volume increases 1600 times
    As we know their will be high temperature & by spraying water on exhaust gases as i mentioned above
    Water will expand 1600 times by its volume this will produce more thrust & all so act as a vibration damper & coolant as mentioned in video too l

    @2:45 why not design a hybrid engine, as in partly electrically controlled. For the turbine in side the exhaustion chamber to rotate. A lot of gas emission can be avoided. In fact there is no requirement of water tank. There by reducing the total weight. Don't even have to worry about the temperature constraint.

  • @PrajjalakChattopadhyay
    @PrajjalakChattopadhyay 4 года назад

    First, in the case where the exhaust of the gas generator cycle is thrown out is called the open cycle system, and all of the current gas generator liquid propulsion engines use this technique. SpaceX's new Raptor engine will be the first flying engine to use the closed cycle system - where the gas generator exhaust will be reintroduced in the main combustion chamber (bypassing the fuel injector plate). This will be much more efficient. Although Russians made closed cycle engine NK-33 in 1960's and 70's, it never flew in space (only test flights). The main problem why closed cycle engine is so hard to design is because the introduction of gas generator exhaust in the main combustion chamber produces combustion instability.
    Secondly, not all gas generator cycles are fuel rich. Although unique, there exists oxydiser rich gas generators like in Russia's NK-33, NK-43, RD-170, RD-180, RD-191 engines. RD-180 engines are still used as the 1st stage of USA's Atlas V rocket.

    • @GareebScientist
      @GareebScientist  4 года назад

      No the raptor is not the 1st closed cycle. It's the first full floe staged combustion cycle with 2 different pre burners one for each pump, one of preburners runs oxygen rich, other fuel rich. There are many closed cycle engines active today as well. Search for staged combustion engines India is working on one too
      And the engines you mentioned in the end, most of them are closed cycle staged combustion engines

    I hope you meet nambi sir, i have some doubts:
    Q.Does fuel tank and oxidiser tank have high potential energy than the combustion chamber?
    My argument for my question above is that given the design of rocket , the configuration provided above is the only feasible configuration and so if thats the case , why don't we simply make use of gravity and fed those two agents into combustion chamber which could have reduced the components weight of three pumps or 2 pumps, 1 turbine and 1 shaft and alsowater pump would have become redundant.
    Thats my thought process , please clear my doubts. I know I haven't taken surfeit of scenarios into consideration, so enlighten me with your knowledge.
    Thank You.
