  • My best FX trading tip for 2019 probably isn't what you think it is. Why does nobody talk about this? It's something anyone who has a chance at being successful in this game must do FIRST before even starting their careers in Forex trading.
Mastering technical analysis and all of the other aspects of trading will be a complete waste of your time unless you figure this one thing out first.
This is Video #1 in my Forex Trading Psychology series, and likely the most important.

Worst habit: pushing my stop loss further back when a trade doesn't go my way. The moment you mentioned it on the video I felt so embarrassed and ashamed LOL.

My biggest bad habbit is staring at the chart all day long instead of educating myself day in day out.
Gladly I recently realized this and now I am spending less than 1h per day looking at charts. Instead I started reading books and watching No Nonsense Forex :)

Its better to trade multipairs on higher timefrime, daily timeframe is minimum to trade with, rather than trading on low timeframe and staring chart all day.

I actually watched this a year ago as a beginner and NOW this makes even more sense. What i did to control my win losses so i wouldn’t break even, in the traditional sense, was figuring out a way to lose a little and make multiple times the amount that was in my account. My risk to reward for starters, has helped me tremendously. My emotions has calmed completely. I also stopped trading what everyone trades. When i take trades, I’m looking to make work at the best possible entry based off my plan.

One of my biggest bad habits was actually moving my stop loss when my trade was going against me. As well as not using the trailing stop and ensuring I break even. Thankfully all of these was in my demo account, I am yet to go live but I'm so glad I haven't yet as I'm bran new, started last year, took a break and got back into it.
I placed a couple of trades and found I was still doing the same thing, I was just trading on feelings only.
Following your system (just finished the babypips school of pipsology) and I can already feel a difference and I'm now more confident, once I have a system in place I will do well.
Thank you so much for these videos! I can tell they're making a big difference to loads of us newbie traders as well as experienced traders!
    Keep it up.

Just starting up my trading and haven´t really made it far yet so hoping theres no bad real habits yet. But the one basic key I´m struggling with is jumping around. Trying some system/indicator/timeframe etc etc, fail the tests and jump to next with no real plan. So far the videos I´ve gone trough here has been a real eye-opener. And I still have a bunch left to see, but started out way differently to work on a system already. Just hope you keep them coming as I catch up!

So much to learn but just a few short weeks ago after much deliberation about to go with trading stocks or trading FOREX, I decided that this is the place for me. I realize that the more educated I am the less I make decisions on feeling, emotion or just plain guesswork. I plan to get through all these videos, podcasts and the blog over the next 6 months to a year and demo trade to that 6% mark. It seems overwhelming now but so did so many other things I've mastered when I first started them. Love it VP. I can see most comments are a year ago or so. You will get a bunch from me. I'm in Reno so we're neighbors, if your ever skiing in Tahoe let me know, I'll take you to lunch. Hitting the slopes tomorrow after a few more of these videos!

My biggest bad habits was not setting a stop; opening positions where I think it was going to go, watching it move the other way; opening bigger trades when lose trying to recover; trading the 3 sessions without sleeping; not having a strategy defined, just trading by feelings as you already mentioned. All those bad habits and more together. Your videos has made me change my perspective. I am practicing to be disciplined, opened a demo and trying to correct those bad habits, but the strategy You suggested, I think is basic, which I still have not though about, but know was important, and you gave me clarity. Thanks a lot. Ill keep watching and looking your sources.

My biggest mistake in FX was when i had a trade running into profit big time and I never considered moving the SL into profit(i didn't know what trailing SL was) and 2ndly, I didn't close the trade when I saw it reversing fast, out of my greed for bigger profits. So my account was wasted the following day

I’ve moved SL’s back a few times, but my biggest achilles heel is pulling profits too early. It has worked a few times too. But it’s also rough seeing my trade go an extra 100 pips when my paranoia isn’t correct. 12:20 summed it up perfectly about validation...

This video carries a very powerful message. Having traded for a few years, emotions have wreaked havoc at one time or another. In the last couple of minutes of the video, you ask about what bad habits we lived with. One particular {crime} came to mind. I use to trade with a friend and we had a mission to find the *perfect* system. We went to seminars, spent money on all kinds of crap, the whole magilla. Each time we thought we found something, I noticed that we were buoyed with hope. That was the emotion that kept us going. Sooner than later, we were met with deep disappointment when things didn't go the way we thought...until the next whiz-bang indicator/system/methodology whapped us upside the back of the head. Mix that with fear and greed (the two most pervasive emotions in trading), you'd soon enough need a quaalude to get back to normal. Tough pill to swallow too. The statement at the beginning of the video (2:53) about "breaking you down" is a concept that escapes most traders, although not at their own fault. They've never had that trainer, DI, coach or mentor to assist them with the transition. This is the place to get that training. Period.

Just want to tell you that I could not stop watching your videos last night and I started reading your blog and here is the reason why..... I have been starting to feel exactly the same way in my gut about trading as I have been following the textbook examples available on the internet and kept loosing money. So something inside me was screaming that this is the wrong way doing it, but I did not trust my gut enough. Now that I am watching your videos with all your years of experience I just know I have finally found the truth, things are falling into place and I think this is going to be life changing for me. I know you would rather hear feedback from results than hope this soon in the journey, but I will keep you updated. For now, I just want to thank you for keeping it free, because I have also lost a lot of money trying to get all the information that made me loose some more. Even paying some of that money I knew deep inside if these were succesful traders they do not really need my money. Thank you sir!!!

This is the 4th time I watched this video and still guilty of not being consistent with money management and not following my set of indicators for my trade entries to go long or short all because of "feeling that the trade will go wrong or if trades go the opposite, I will lose less". Result: algorithm is right and I am wrong, and reduced the profit I should have made. Feelings are really the worst reference for trading.
    Thanks VP for the reminder.

my first bad habit is trading by gut feeling, the 2nd is by abandoning at any time my discipline and the 3rd bad habit is not knowing when to quit, take the profit i'm happy with and the market taking away all my profit into a loss-i'm glad i found your channel just today and won a trade-thanks-!!!
