    I'm a former nurse & a few yrs ago, I came up on a head-on collision.
The police/ Fire & EMS hadn't arrived on scene yet.
So at that time I started rendering aid to the victims which was 6 of them in total in the two vehicles.
When fire arrived on scene, I told the Lt the conditions of the victims & the injuries of them so that the info can be relayed to EMS.
I also advised that Medivac needs to be sent to the scene also for the one critical patient I was rendering aid to.
This patient had multiple broken ribs, broken femor, head trauma with possible spinal injuries.
NONE of the occupant's in the two vehicles were wearing seatbelts at that time.
After EMS arrived & they came to where I was at with the patient, I relayed this patients injuries & then I backed off & let EMS take over. But stood by Incase the Paramedic needed additional help till Medivac arrived on scene.
So working a scene of a head-on collision is very hectic especially if you have multiple victim's.
At the same time I also advised the State Trooper how many victim's & they're injuries so he could add the info into his accident report.
I ended up spending over two hours on-scene by the time it was all cleared up at that time
    After that,

That is a dispatch from Monroe County Central Dispatch (Bloomington, IN) for IU Health Medic 206 and Ellettsville Fire Squad 8. One of the things that always get's me in these videos is 90% of the comments come from arm chair generals, who like too critique one thing or another, response time, gear used, someones actions taken by people during the response, actions taken on arrival to the scene etc are based on " I think I know things, durr " perspectives. 2 things, One; Before you comment ask yourself this, why am I about to post a comment on a video telling someone they're doing a shit job, because I'll tell you now, they're most likely not gonna listen and Two; What do I know about the situation?

It's either closure, knowing the victim got out... or a pacifying way to feel better about actually watching these types of things. @LSUFaithful7 10 лет назад +6

You can instantly tell this is a volunteer community. First its obviously in the rural countryside, secondly the battalion chief / fire chief arrives before anyone else and starts dispatching apparatuses. This means he's telling dispatch to page the volunteers to the station. Those volunteers have to leave work/home and drive to the station, change and then drive to the scene. Living in the country is cheaper for a reason and emergency service response times are somethings you give up. They'll get there, but its gonna take a little while longer.

Actually. You are incorrect, the FDs job is overall scene safety. The FD has the power to keep people back for safety. And even at worst case, you should call for PD to remove them if you do not have a backbone to do it yourself. SAFETY first, and that is the FDs # 1 Priority.

There’s really nothing much to see other than the wreck itself. Other videos will pan in to see how the fire department gets the car apart to make the rescue.

Why were the bystanders at the vehicle and the ones driving up to scene and leaving there vehicles in the road not cleared. Otherwise looks like a good job well done

Edwin Ortega each town has a different way of doing thing each town also only uses certain equipment and on a call like this best thing to do is have a backboard ready and that circler Collar that's made from foam is a form of a cervical collar they would have most likely switched it out once they got him out of the car in the rig as a former first aid member there isn't much the first aid squad can do when a car isn't stable what they grab was appropriate at their time of arrival a firefighter or cop could have grabbed the stretcher yes they should have brought it to begin with but scene safety tops over any piece of equipment

4186Shooter Yes, always. Load and go doesn't mean you don't get a collar and O2. If she was smart, she would have placed the long board on top of the stretcher with her trauma bag and O2 tank. She placed the long-board down and went all the way back to get the stretcher and stuff. Does that make any sense to you? No. that's delaying patient care. If you aren't an EMT which most of you don't seem like it, you clearly have no idea how to run on calls. If you're saying "load and go" that means it needs to be quick, so why is she first taking a long board placing it on the floor then going back and getting the stretcher? As slow as she was going that is not considered a "load and go" attitude.
