I just got mine the other day. It’s a beast! Folding is kind of difficult at the moment so I totally agree. They gave me tons of free perks like the fenders. Pretty light so not too much of a weight issue. This thing looks like a motorcycle! Thanks for video

I just received he same bike you bought. I haven’t ridden it yet but I’m Six four nine and at least 300 lbs. and I’m sure as I’m losing weight with this bike it’ll be even smoother. But I can’t wait to see how this bike rides.
On dry sand you can get better control if the tire pressure is 5-10 psi. Regular tire pressure works best on the road, dirt, and damp sand, not watery wet sand. Bring a tire pump and experiment.

Sergio: My plans were to charge my Mate X bike at home and at work. Their adverts explained that charging could be done by the cord to the bike or directly to the battery -like your videos have shown. I didn't expect their charger would be a heavy brick. Do you know where to find that same style charging "brick"? That way i could keep one at home and one at work and not have to carry the same one back and forth -thus, adding more weight. I've asked Mate but no replies. (Do you know if the battery is generic or specialized for the Mate?)

Shimano, Tektro, and Bafang are the Honda parts of the eBike world. They're ubiquitous, cheap enough, trusty enough, but they're not names anyone would associate with "performance". They simply are the go-to component brands, and you find them on 90% of every kickstart eBike. Nothing wrong with them, but nothing impressive either. They just work. I've got Star Union brakes on one of my ebikes, and they're...less quality than the Tektro wal-mart types. The Hyundais of the brake world. They only have two modes when applying them: Nothing at all and locked the F up. But I do look cool skidding to a stop everywhere.

Did you go for the 750s? I know it's illegal in Aus, but if it's limited to 25km/h or being used on private property it's all good. I ordered a 750s from Brisbane and was told by a Mate Account Manager that they are working out the logistics with Australia, but that it will 100% be possible, I can't wait!! Australia needs to take off the bubble wrap and grow a set, stop restricting so harshly, it's why we have too many cars on the roads and very few riding electric transportation to work

I have a Mate X 750s and been chatting with customer service for almost 3 months. They wont let me get a refund. Im stuck with a heavy e-bike that doesnt work. Avoid Mate bikes.

Can you please explain what sort of battery size you ordered ? 26miles and only 1 bar out of 5 on the battery sounds really low distance compared to what the Mate X ordering site mentions.....This is really important information for anyone wanting to buy one
Not sure if you watched the whole thing but i explain how I used it while doing the review. The more you use Peddle Assist, the longer the range is going to be. I used it where there was hills, I also mentioned my height and weight and used the throttle about half of the time. Doing that, reduces the range on any battery.
@@SergioHernandezProduction cheers for your reply btw.....I ended up going for a Black Friday deal Mate X offered last Winter 2019 (hence before the COVID 19 virus went global) , and so the estimated delivery was then , by May 2020 at the latest. However due to COVID 19 , I had to understandably wait longer. I finally got my Mate X with all the upgrades (including the 17.5 battery) a few weeks ago. I've already done approx 400 miles on it and I must say I'm delighted with the performance so far (and feel it was well worth the wait) . I'm getting 60 to 70 miles (and sometimes even more ) out of it so far, per charge. That's obviously using pedal assist too, however those journeys also include me using higher pedal assist settings such as level 7 for a lot of my journeys and includes a fair bit of uphill too. Hence I'm really happy I bought the bike. It's been a lot of fun and the riding position feels very comfortable (it does need some extra seat padding for longer journeys though but that's easy to fix) . Anyway thanks again for these videos , you're doing a brilliant job bro. Stay safe in the meantime too.
I have a Biria, if it didn't fold I couldn't have it as I have to haul it up 3 flights of stairs into my apartment. There's literally a club of us now on the boardwalk with these that we bought from a local shop. Everyone keeps asking me why I don't have the rear rack and accessories that they all have, lol, it's already heavy enough. I have to remove the battery first and take it upstairs. I'm 6'2 and 220 lbs.

@@SergioHernandezProduction Yeah I'm going to say that this bike with those big tires should have no troubles on the sand. I wouldn't use the pedal assist mode at all, just the throttle, as you'll want to get up to a reasonable speed before kicking in the motor. It might be a little bumpy on that softer sand but more time on the bike and you'll get the hang of it. Nice video!
Thank you for the review. I got interested in this bike because it's a folding ebike with peddle assist and no peddle required. I just need it for the commute, nothing crazy like mountain biking. This seems like it'll last a long time to come.
Hi Sergio and awesome unboxing and review videos! Great work so far :) Can you show in a video if this bike fit into a Sedan car trunk (folded, of course)? I have a 2015 Ford Focus - EU Sedan version - and because is a really solid bike I really want to see if folded fits into the trunk. I imagine you do not have within reach a car like mine but would like to see at least on another sedan model...
Sweet review and smooth ride obviously... Since Im planning to get one 750 too I think that the only con about it is sheer weight. Plus on the downside that Altus gear changer is major con. Amongst cheapest out there and believe you me Im on a bike all life (Bike tech tech certified). And that refers to chain too. Super thin and fragile for such a beast. Keep up the good work

Thank you for watching! and using the throttle only is the same as the max speed (9) on the screen. The only difference is, with the screen its peddle assist. So you have to peddle to get the bike to go to the max speed. The throttle you can go max speed without peddling. Hope that makes sense. Writing notes on my next video and I will definitely be covering this.

I ordered my Mate X in August 2018 and I still haven't received it .. they said it would be sent in mid June so nearly 10 months of waiting, so pissed!
@@Chilldonlevi Have you never crowdfunded before? I really don't get people, crowdfunding is almost always delayed, and by a lot, you're buying into a prototype and the conception of the product! From there they have to organize factories, shipping partners and also hope that all parts are made 100% with no defects, and do it all with no delays?? Are you serious?. Mate as a company has already had a successful campaign where there were also lots of nasty impatient people that didn't understand what crowdfunding was about, and they must not know that a lot of crowd funded products never even finish or get delivered, and all backers lose all their money. Yet Mate, despite all the sooky whingers and complainers, who obviously know everything about what goes into producing thousands and thousands of bikes, sending all over the world, dealing with different customs and taxes in every country, yet delivered every single bike from their last campaign. I've been buying into crowdfunded products for years and have never seen so many people that have no clue about it using the platform, acting as if they're buying from a shop! They are forgetting that a company like Mate has already proven that they WILL deliver, though they must ensure that they are doing it the right way, or risk losing money or respect due to shitty defective bikes. Crowdfunding is funding a prototype, there are NO guarantees that you will receive your product or get your money back, so if this doesn't suit you, then don't do it! I'm sure all those that completely understand crowdfunding are seriously sick and tired of hearing all these whiny "pissed" people that have no idea what they have bought into, complain about any delay, and should maybe research the company and realize that they had delays previously, but delivered every single bike!

Shimano, yes is a good brand, but for the price of the bike, the model (the altus) isnt up to specification to what it could be at that range, i would of expected at least a deore transmission on the bike. Other than that tektro hydraulic disc brakes are quality and the wheel hubs are also good. Pedals dont matter really if your only commuting.

Sure. It is very clear that the Ether9 bike was developed after the MATE X kickstarter went live, you can tell from the (very, VERY little) information I can find online about the Ether9 bike. There's no website, the videos look completely amateuristic and so does the Facebook page. Nice try.

One to 2 years later of peeps recieving there bikes. Bike parts. I guess some peeps got the Lemons. lol As for my Mate X. I bought thru FB Marketplace brand new in December 2019. No problems. E Az that's exactly the time I waited. It's far from a scam. It's a funded campaign and because of their crazy breaking record success, they have fallen behind. It's an amazing bike for sure and worth the wait. I love mine.
That is how buying through a crowdfunding page works. You fund the production. Meaning you sometimes have to wait a long time, because production will start AFTER funding. Very normal. Nothing to do with a scam, just with people's inability to read and/or have patience.
Those are generally regarded as quality budget parts. Watch the Electric Bike Review youtube channel to brush up on all kinds of electric bikes, trikes, quads, cargo bikes, bus bikes, etc.
So you are saying just get jiggy with it for the first few minutes, so you can understand how changing gears works. I have an Idea as I had a bike many years again. People also should know that when changing gears you should always be peddling makes it easier for gears to change and not hop gears or get jammed and or forced gearing. This bike looks alot like the Lectric XP, Which I am thinking of Purchasing, then Upgrading parts to it. at the same time it looks a bit taller than the Lectric XP but not 100% sure of that. Lectric XP has great customer support and 1 year warranty, plus they answer your email and pick up their phone. How's this bike holding up? I hear a lot of negative things about the bike, like cheaper parts being used instead of the good quality parts offered in original campaign. Also no support of warranty from Julian or Christian which are the ones that held this campaign on Indiegogo. How is the bike holding up, what are the issues you have with this bike? What are you likes and Dislikes as of today? I would like to purchase one. but they want close to 2500 for one on Some places that have them. That's insane for a bike that has no kind of warranty or support as claimed by other RUclipsrs. From what I understand to fold it you have to get on to the opposite side of the part that folds, the side that doesn't have a latch and put your knees to the center of the bike so it can fold easier. not sure if that works, but thats how a lot of these style of bikes fold. Australia needs to take off the bubble wrap and grow a set, stop restricting so harshly, it's why we have too many cars on the roads and very few riding electric transportation to work

I have a Mate X 750s and been chatting with customer service for almost 3 months. They wont let me get a refund. Im stuck with a heavy e-bike that doesnt work. Avoid Mate bikes.

Can you please explain what sort of battery size you ordered ? 26miles and only 1 bar out of 5 on the battery sounds really low distance compared to what the Mate X ordering site mentions.....This is really important information for anyone wanting to buy one
Not sure if you watched the whole thing but i explain how I used it while doing the review. The more you use Peddle Assist, the longer the range is going to be. I used it where there was hills, I also mentioned my height and weight and used the throttle about half of the time. Doing that, reduces the range on any battery.
@@SergioHernandezProduction cheers for your reply btw.....I ended up going for a Black Friday deal Mate X offered last Winter 2019 (hence before the COVID 19 virus went global) , and so the estimated delivery was then , by May 2020 at the latest. However due to COVID 19 , I had to understandably wait longer. I finally got my Mate X with all the upgrades (including the 17.5 battery) a few weeks ago. I've already done approx 400 miles on it and I must say I'm delighted with the performance so far (and feel it was well worth the wait) . I'm getting 60 to 70 miles (and sometimes even more ) out of it so far, per charge. That's obviously using pedal assist too, however those journeys also include me using higher pedal assist settings such as level 7 for a lot of my journeys and includes a fair bit of uphill too. Hence I'm really happy I bought the bike. It's been a lot of fun and the riding position feels very comfortable (it does need some extra seat padding for longer journeys though but that's easy to fix) . Anyway thanks again for these videos , you're doing a brilliant job bro. Stay safe in the meantime too.
I have a Biria, if it didn't fold I couldn't have it as I have to haul it up 3 flights of stairs into my apartment. There's literally a club of us now on the boardwalk with these that we bought from a local shop. Everyone keeps asking me why I don't have the rear rack and accessories that they all have, lol, it's already heavy enough. I have to remove the battery first and take it upstairs. I'm 6'2 and 220 lbs.

Jer Sam yeah I'm not a big cyclist. I plan to just cruise down with the lady 😁. And in order to have the electric power on, yes. Keys have to stay. Doing a video of some tips as well. Will cover that.
@@SergioHernandezProduction Yeah I'm going to say that this bike with those big tires should have no troubles on the sand. I wouldn't use the pedal assist mode at all, just the throttle, as you'll want to get up to a reasonable speed before kicking in the motor. It might be a little bumpy on that softer sand but more time on the bike and you'll get the hang of it. Nice video!

Hi Sergio and awesome unboxing and review videos! Great work so far :) Can you show in a video if this bike fit into a Sedan car trunk (folded, of course)? I have a 2015 Ford Focus - EU Sedan version - and because is a really solid bike I really want to see if folded fits into the trunk. I imagine you do not have within reach a car like mine but would like to see at least on another sedan model...

Since Im planning to get one 750 too I think that the only con about it is sheer weight. Plus on the downside that Altus gear changer is major con. Amongst cheapest out there and believe you me Im on a bike all life (Bike tech tech certified). And that refers to chain too. Super thin and fragile for such a beast.

Its amazing with steep hills BUT 20-30min of constant hill climbing? I doubt it. Guess depends on the elevation.

Thank you for watching! and using the throttle only is the same as the max speed (9) on the screen. The only difference is, with the screen its peddle assist. So you have to peddle to get the bike to go to the max speed. The throttle you can go max speed without peddling. Hope that makes sense. Writing notes on my next video and I will definitely be covering this.

when you ordered your mate x bike how long it takes to get there?
I ordered my Mate X in August 2018 and I still haven't received it .. they said it would be sent in mid June so nearly 10 months of waiting, so pissed!
@@Chilldonlevi Have you never crowdfunded before? I really don't get people, crowdfunding is almost always delayed, and by a lot, you're buying into a prototype and the conception of the product! From there they have to organize factories, shipping partners and also hope that all parts are made 100% with no defects, and do it all with no delays?? Are you serious?.
Mate as a company has already had a successful campaign where there were also lots of nasty impatient people that didn't understand what crowdfunding was about, and they must not know that a lot of crowd funded products never even finish or get delivered, and all backers lose all their money. Yet Mate, despite all the sooky whingers and complainers, who obviously know everything about what goes into producing thousands and thousands of bikes, sending all over the world, dealing with different customs and taxes in every country, yet delivered every single bike from their last campaign.
I've been buying into crowdfunded products for years and have never seen so many people that have no clue about it using the platform, acting as if they're buying from a shop! They are forgetting that a company like Mate has already proven that they WILL deliver, though they must ensure that they are doing it the right way, or risk losing money or respect due to shitty defective bikes. Crowdfunding is funding a prototype, there are NO guarantees that you will receive your product or get your money back, so if this doesn't suit you, then don't do it!
I'm sure all those that completely understand crowdfunding are seriously sick and tired of hearing all these whiny "pissed" people that have no idea what they have bought into, complain about any delay, and should maybe research the company and realize that they had delays previously, but delivered every single bike!

He mentions the throttle several times. You can see it in the video as well - he does a whole bit with his feet in the air but still going 33 km/h.

Shimano, yes is a good brand, but for the price of the bike, the model (the altus) isnt up to specification to what it could be at that range, i would of expected at least a deore transmission on the bike. Other than that tektro hydraulic disc brakes are quality and the wheel hubs are also good. Pedals dont matter really if your only commuting.

Hi it’s a copy off the original “ETHER9” electric fat bike triple suspension bike. Good review it’s still a good bike.. but the ETHER9 bike is amazing if you ever get a chance to ride it it’s the Bentley of bikes...

Sure. It is very clear that the Ether9 bike was developed after the MATE X kickstarter went live, you can tell from the (very, VERY little) information I can find online about the Ether9 bike. There's no website, the videos look completely amateuristic and so does the Facebook page. Nice try.

As for my Mate X. I bought thru FB Marketplace brand new in December 2019. No problems. Travelled over 1000ks. 48v 14.5ah mate battery.

E Az that's exactly the time I waited. It's far from a scam. It's a funded campaign and because of their crazy breaking record success, they have fallen behind. It's an amazing bike for sure and worth the wait. I love mine.
That is how buying through a crowdfunding page works. You fund the production. Meaning you sometimes have to wait a long time, because production will start AFTER funding. Very normal. Nothing to do with a scam, just with people's inability to read and/or have patience.

You have the road tires. I believe they have an option for off road/sand tires.. Maybe that's why your sand experience was bad.

Did anyone try reducing the tire pressure to see the bike handles better on sand?
So you are saying just get jiggy with it for the first few minutes, so you can understand how changing gears works. I have an Idea as I had a bike many years again. People also should know that when changing gears you should always be peddling makes it easier for gears to change and not hop gears or get jammed and or forced gearing.
This bike looks alot like the Lectric XP, Which I am thinking of Purchasing, then Upgrading parts to it. at the same time it looks a bit taller than the Lectric XP but not 100% sure of that. Lectric XP has great customer support and 1 year warranty, plus they answer your email and pick up their phone.
How's this bike holding up? I hear a lot of negative things about the bike, like cheaper parts being used instead of the good quality parts offered in original campaign. Also no support of warranty from Julian or Christian which are the ones that held this campaign on Indiegogo.

I would like to purchase one. but they want close to 2500 for one on Some places that have them. That's insane for a bike that has no kind of warranty or support as claimed by other RUclipsrs.
From what I understand to fold it you have to get on to the opposite side of the part that folds, the side that doesn't have a latch and put your knees to the center of the bike so it can fold easier. not sure if that works, but thats how a lot of these style of bikes fold.
