Soooo. Im a 23 year old rock/metal singer from Finland and ive learned most of my techniques on my own. Almost all of them kind of accidentally. I learned the basics of singing from a vocal coach and then i just experimented with my voice. Yes ive gone through trial and error, but ive never gone to the point that i couldnt sing the next day. In my opinion its all about mindset; if something doesnt feel right, you shouldnt do it. Warming up and ”cooling down” is a helping factor too. When i was learning screaming type vocals i developed this ”you dont have to be loud to sound loud” mindset wich has really helped me

I was really lucky and spent nothing for 10 years while studying in 3 colleges. Unfortunately, my teachers messed me up. I was an opera singer and by the end I almost couldn’t sing anymore. Choose your teachers wisely…
