I used to watch this WRC Highlights show back in 2002. What a great show it used to be ( not anymore like this ) .. sad.. and so good to see the late McCrae and Burns ; Gronholm , Makinen, Solberg, Sainz and the young Loeb. Those were the days !! :)
TheDownloader86 Peugeot, Citroen, Ford, Mitsubishi, Skoda, Hyundai, Subaru. Those were the days :) But with Toyota coming back in 2017, we could be up to 5 brands very soon (Ford, VW, Hyundai, Citroen, Toyota)
I have been watching WRC since 2000 back when we had only TV to watch it. And i had the luck to watch Acropolis rally every year with my childhood friends all the legends that now are not with us. RIP legends of WRC!!! I watch now the old videos and i get goosebumps... I miss the old days man.
I think the descision of Citröen accepting their penalty was right. It costed Loeb and Citröen their first victory, but they together won 78 rallys after this one. As for Tommi Mäikinen, it was his last victory.
I don't know what Ralliart was thinking resting their odds on Delecour and Alistair. It's like they didn't want to win on purpose. Auriol was also free at that time, if anything they could have gotten a good tester for that problematic car if anything else.
I agree with you about Auriol but that evo 7 was uncompetitive from the word go when introduced in late 01 season. Even Mäkinen struggled in that car and in any case both delecour and Alistair McRae were a definite improvement over the useless fredy loix from the previous 3 seasons. That guy never finished higher than 4th in 3 seasons even in the highly competitive evo 6
Mitsubishi's World Rally fate was doomed the minute they debuted the car towards the end of 2001 when it clearly wasn't ready. I'm not saying that's what cost Tommi the 2001 title but you could see at the end of 01 how much he hated the new car. This is my first time watching the 2002 season and didn't know they went with Delecour and Alistair. They could have made a play for others for sure. But no doubt everything that happened from San Remo 01 is what led Mitsubishi out of WRC.
Nah it does not work like that, then he would not be driving for Citroen at all would he? Citroen would have their own ace driver when Peugeot dipped. Makinen should've easily won 01 too if they stick with their Group A evo 6.

ION PUIU because back in the day they got the virtual spectator and the TV rights owner was International Sportsworld Communicators (ecclestone). Now the rights of WRC are owned by redbull.

indeed surreal
That blue 206 of Rovanpera is a beauty
206 is the most beautiful car ever made
Golden Era of WRC......all top carmaker in race..................satisfaction!
Imagine trying to drive through Col de Turini at night without any lights like how it happened to Carlos Sainz. Absolutely crazy.
So many manufacturers that days in WRC...
it was a great time with so many legends and manufacturers

That Loeb boy looks like a prospect, might have a chance at a world title sometime.
This is the year I started watching WRC, when it used to come on the Speed Channel here in the US. I miss it.
I had that 2002 WRX with those black headlights....and I loved her
toonsis that car with the Prodrive styling pack was just supreme. A 360 degree change
The car you had and the one you saw here have only the windshield in common, this isnt the pwrc.

Am a Tommi Makinen fan for life but I have to admit that Loeb is fast!
This puts new WRC to shame
I was a great show, a good old times of Rally racing.
La epoca dorada del rally, nunca mas vi resumenes como estos ni menos tantas marcas corriendo
oh~~i miss Richard and Colin so so much~~~
Why is the voiceover so quiet compared to the rest of the audio
The narrator hid in the cupbard and just wouldn't come out......
What a show!
2021 WRC season almost underway now.

After huge crash on safari rally 1999 loix is never been a same, it's shame because freddy is very quick on toyota back then

@@metalgearzeke6904 Loix always underperformed, Mitsubishi kept him because of sponsorship money. They only had one driver, Makkinen
I think that prime Loeb would have dominated the 2000 ,2001, 2002 and 2003 championships if he drove the Peugeot 206

i wish wrc was as competitive now,
@woody Vallallellalunga rear wheel drive cars stopped being competitive ages ago. TC is not allowed and never was.

Where is Germany Rally 2002?
loeb got a penaly about 2min. and went to 2.place

Why did he get a penalty?
I think he changed a tire when it was not allowed to do it
Didn't know Timo Rautianen is Gronholm's brother-in-law
Yeah, Timo is married with Marcus sister.
how is it possible the same problems in previous years repeat again. probably from the cold conditions
Nice Video!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ^^ ^^

what is the song at the beginning of the video?
What the Lucky od the Kresta Skoda
The commentator is way too quiet, I hardly can understand what he's saying :/
Yeah, a true shame.

Why do I have to verify my age to watch this video?
Please fix this, WRC!
Tommi Makinen :D
Your sound engineer for this video needs to be sacked.
King Loeb
Loeb was disqualified, the win went to Makinen.
Citroen cheated, Subaru should of won that
