I remember one of the excuses for cutting the open world, was to make it easier to have coherent sims acting coherently according to where they were in the world. This was clearly a big lie.

I had a random thought today when my sim walked in on his brother in the bath so he could wash plates for the 15th time: You have the option to "set as front door" with doors. Would it really be that hard to have a "set as kitchen sink" function?
Meanwhile in the Sims 3, One kitchen sink, two bathrooms, one of which is off the kitchen. The only time I've ever seen a sim wash a plate in either bathroom was when both the dishwasher and the kitchen sink was in use. Their must be some sort of code that can make the sink in the kitchen attractive to a sim with a stack of dishes.

Whatever happened to sims locking the bathroom door when they are using the toilet or taking a shower, like in sims 2? so many things I wish they'd kept from the previous games...
I do find it very annoying that Lazy Sims go to the Gym, while Active Sims go to lounges. And only Anglers should be fishing as NPCs. Loves Outdoor trait people should be going to parks. Active Sims should be playing basketball and skiing. Certain lots should be places where certain sims with certain personality traits.
Unplayed Sims ought to have appropriate skills, too. I only recently got Get Together, had a Sim join the athletic group, and these premade numskulls in the group are all tripping on the treadmills and whatnot because of their lack of fitness skill.
SO MUCH LOST POTENTIAL! The whole thing with Sims4 was that our sims were supposed to have "personalities". And yet, traits do so very little to affect their actual day-to-day lives. Active sims should be the ones at the gym! Bookworms should be at the library! Nerdbrains should be at Geekcon! Romantics should be at the romance festival! Is this really that difficult? Why do their personalities have zero impact on where we're going to find them?
This a really cool idea, especially for Sims to meet certain types of Sims. Like maybe my Sim wants to date someone active, so she heads to the gym to maximise her chances. Makes sense.
I take my sims to a nightclub and theres four sims there, including the bartender. The other three are random elders that look like they are dressed for a circus:,)

My sims were on their honeymoon vacation and saw the nanny fishing. They were not at all concerned about who was watching the kids back home. I on the other hand said WTF??
Consider TS3: World Adventures. Because the individual worlds were completely separate from each other, when you traveled to another country, it really felt like you had gone to another country. All of the locals looked and acted like they belonged there and there were even some local customs to observe. You didn't have Nancy Landgraab selling you artifacts in Egypt, you had an Egyptian Sim there. In TS4, you go to Japan and see like 5 Japanese Sims while your next door neighbor from Willow Creek sashays past in a ballgown. It doesn't feel like another country at all. In fact, you don't even have to have a visa, you can just pop over to Japan for an hour or two if you want and be back in time for dinner. Why even have a destination like that if it doesn't feel special?
Exactly. I hate to be that salty Sims player that can't let go of the Sims 3, but almost every time I watch one of Carl's "issues with the Sims 4" videos I think to myself "oh, you mean like what we had in TS3?". I get that TS3 had it's own issues and they wanted to do new stuff with TS4, but I really feel like a perfect game would be having TS4 CAS abilities (once they fix skintones... again) in a Sims 3 game. But that's just my opinion, of course.

Yeah this was a huge problem for me regarding realism. Why can my sim go from their home in Oasis Springs to community lots in San Myschuno and Willow Creek in a day...I know this is a hot take, but I far rathered the closed off towns in The Sims 3.
I completely agree about not wanting to see the same sims literally EVERYWHERE. Even if they ARE obsessed with certain sims, shouldn't there be an option to bind that sim to the area their house is unless you take it off? I love your vids!
I know there's a mod for this somewhere but I'm sick of seeing celeb sims places that don't have the get famous lot traits. Like my sim can't socialize with anyone, walk places because other sims have fainted, and can't use certain services because the people that are supposed to be handling them are busy watching the celeb sims.
For whatever reason the game works on the "last known sims". What I do is go to an area and knock on people's doors and interact with them. I hate judith ward, I took her house and moved her into THE BIN. Mwahahaha!
I barely play the game part, I'm more of a builder, yet even I'm sick of the same sims turning up everywhere. It's like they stalk you, that ex who won't accept that it's over. Sacricial's violence mod is useful in these situations. ;-)

The idea to pull them from the Gallery is interesting, but I'm kinda worried that if it was in any way based on popular Gallery Sims, our towns would consist of 90% pregnant teen blonde girl Sims and extremely attractive YA men with all the same traits... I prefer the game randomly generating faces, body types and skin tones for the sake of diversity. But using preset outfits for their clothing, AND letting players save more outfits that could then be used on townies would fix most of the clothing issues, IMO.
Exactly. This could open up a new category in the gallery too - player-created outfits. I, for one, like having my townies look good, but I don't have the patience to dress them one by one, nor do I have enough imagination to make their outfits look different. For this reason, I find the styles part very useful, but the problem is, I run out of them quickly. If they just let us create, share and download outfits, this wouldn't be a problem.
@@vikkisims6364 yeah! Honestly I use styles all the time when starting up new games whenever I dont feel like dressing up the sims myself. But I also have so many great outfits that I've made over the years that I want to reuse but that I wont because the time and effort it would take to remake them every time is too tedious. If I could save outfits that I create I would do it all the time!

Maybe all the Japanese townies were stuck in San Myshuno. It seemed for a while like all the townies had Japanese names. Funny thing, they didn't look Japanese.
@@agentsquid9079 Because all "unplayed" & homeless Sims get dumped into 1 group at the game then selects from. It would be awesome to assign a home world or even district for Townies/NPCs in the family manager. Make a tab for each of the Worlds & then general Population (for those NPCs you WANT to keep constant & Sims you don't care about). Then you have a check box or something to mark unplayed neighbor or something. Like, let me pretend that all of those decorative houses actually have residents & these Sims in interacting with are them.

EA are the worst gaming company in the industry, this is the company that allows in game ads pop up in Madden games. They are greedy and dont care for gameplay

@@cazzy3149 unfortunately that only stops them being moved into houses. They'll still automatically generate new townies that are just randomly walking around the place
It's good that there are mods that can pick up the slack from EA/Maxis. But unfortunately, no amount of mods or CC will ever help us console players, who can use neither. Our games are only what EA/Maxis gives us, nothing more. That being said, I think it would be best not to rely too much on mods and CC and force the issue back where it belongs - in the hands of the games creators, and not us players.
Honestly, I don't want townies. At all. Not well dressed, "world appropriate," or fresh out of the gallery. I want the not in world, unemployed sims I made picked for everything first for anything and only then for the game to generate townies as necessary. I want to shut off nonessential townie generation and have since the game released so I do not have to constantly purge my saves of them. So I do not bat an eyelash when I see Bob Pancakes for the thousandth time in my neighborhood and then again on vacation. I roll my eyes a little when all four of my five star celebrities in the file appear at the college dorms, but I am much more annoyed by the randos that populate for no good reason right beside them.
I heavily desire them to back up that "play with life" "you're in control" stuff with actual detailed game options. It's important. This game cannot be tailored to one type of player.

I said it before in one of your other videos, but it's like most game devs (at least sim or RPG) these days can't make something deep then build in options for the player, they've got to make shallow crud and then try to imp things in later, which usually flops harder than just leaving things alone. Sims 3, I've not played in a while, but I'm sure had options to turn of individual supernaturals, celebs (and opt out household) and knock out world roam for sims, yet somehow the current dev team can't go over that code and rejigger it to whatever the current language is? Really?

@@maybelikealittlebit I do a lot of family gameplay or storylines I also use a lot of mods which yeah I barely feel like downloading those, but it’s worth it. Sometimes I’ll do like a storyline about a single mom in uni or something. And then other times I’ll use the occult sims for a storyline, or I’ll do a rich celebrity family one 😂 the way I play is very basic, but I enjoy it.
Your suggestion reminds me of Spore and how the creatures were basically a PNG file with information embedded in it and somehow it worked in 2008 but it is too much in 2014. You're right, I mean, the gallery is there, at release there were all those SimGuru characters floating around, I remember downloading a lot of "canon" sims like Bjorn Tu'Rock and Amber Stein and other sims that are not in game but were heavily in promotional materials, because I wanted my game to "feel" like it was "right", whatever that is. I wish EA would enable something like you talk about, but I am not holding my breath. Some producers have mentioned that the reason why the worlds started getting smaller and smaller is for compatibility reasons and having a dedicated population to each world would put a huge strain on older setups. Maxis is proud of TS4 being able to play on a toaster (as long as it's a 64 bit toaster with Directx 9), so they'll cut any corners to save memory load. Honestly I think that even TS5 is going to have a similar population problem because of this.
True enough. But that's starting to backfire with all these packs. I have over what's minimum and it still runs like a toaster. The only game that does it is Sims. So I call bullshit on EA's memory excuses. In fact, I call bullshit on ALL of EA's excuses.
But you see, they never promised a toaster would run the whole game smoothly. It loads and that is their selling point. That was pretty much the downfall of TS3 as well and TS4 is going the same path: too many packs, no cohesive narrative, all over the place. And simmers assume they *have* to have *all* the packs, or it's not the game "as intended", so we end up spending thousands and thousands of dollars on it. I personally stopped buying at Uni. I still look at new releases, "that's cool" and all, but I don't think EA is selling a gaming experience I am interested in spening any more money on. Every now and then I play my families a bit, tend the neighborhood and maintain the mods I have installed, but that's it.
Do you honestly believe there will be a TS5? They've said if TS4 doesn't make them bajillions of Simoleons they won't make one. People are so peeved over TS4 I think that's the reason they just keep adding to it, rather than creating an entirely new version.
@@maidenminnesota1 There will, they are working on it. And TS4 did make them tons of money. I own packs worth 550 dollars, at least if I had bought all of them at full price. However, my expectations: TS5 is gonna be like the latest packs: Visually impressive, lacking in gameplay and releasing in an unpolished state. Price: 60-70 $. I don't know how "online" it's going to be, but if they made it a live service with additional micro transactions, it would be very much EA. And if they want players to interact within the Sims world, it would require even less gameplay and the characters being even less unique by themselves. Buying all the packs currently on the market for TS4 costs 750 $. So I guess the amount of money they're making is huge. So it would be just as much EA to pump out a ton more to make even more money. There will be a TS5 for sure. But if they don't let the devs put enough effort into it, it may fail miserably as soon as Paralives gets released. The reason for the many new packs for TS4 is probably that you can keep milking the fanbase while creating a new game.

Plus, their two mobile Sims games are the real moneymakers in all likelihood (the old one is still around and should appeal to Sims 2/3 players but they made a new one with shinier graphics and a more "modern" approach to app games of its ilk.) I think Sims 4 is developed with the newer app in mind, so they can borrow assets for microtransactions. They certainly reused some of them at launch so why stop there?

@@CarlsSimGuides I think the animationsn are pretty, but they sometimes don't make much sense, or don't really "fit." To me, they were a bit jarring. It's like you use the sims videos to practice your animation skills with blender (or whatever program u use), and then stick them in randomly.
I started a household with YA guy with his Teen girl cousin, she aged up and i moved her out so i could start a family with the guy the game gave her a job in the tech career the same as the guy had to this day she is the only townie in that playthrough that has a proper job

i dont agree i dont want to see sims made by a fourteen years old girl that think a masculin man should not have fat and be super athletic and have huge eyes, and small jaw small chin small weist... you know where im going... and see flat chess, large fat women... or again huge eyes etc... i would much prefer having the option to design myself/randomize at will in cas, some townies with really specific jobs, like a tool to control who is what, who is fireman and in which neighborhood etc...
@@Klondike877 I would be nice if they just gave the players control over who appears in their world. We can use the gallery a tick any gallery sims made by others to be used as random sims, or we could let maxis RNG do it, or we can turn the maxis RNG off and fill the world with our own custom made sims. The point is give players the tools to play the game how they want, letting the player be in control of the world.
Spore had a similar concept. It was "online" in that other players could share their creations, and those creations would be automatically downloaded into your spore's current evolution ecosystem.
Yes, yes, yes. I agree with everything you said in this video. I see the same random Sims everywhere so much, I'm starting to dislike them all. For instance, I send my Sim to the gym. They see the same people there ALL the time. I've had my Sim "gym hop" and the same Sims show up all the sudden. Stalkers. I shouldn't see Don Lothario and Eliza Pancakes at the gym in Windenburg. At the gyms in their respective towns sure, but not EVERY gym!!
I want a "make townie family" option in CAS that lets you not just make townies and choose their household relationships, but set their careers and some skills as well. The caveat being, the household can't be played - you have to get them to move in or marry you same as you would any other NPC.
It's so nice how the Sims 4 is supporting so many modders. By leaving all the popular fixes to them. I really don't know how console players play. It's so bland and $$$$$. Your points are head on. Thank you for using your platform to voice these opinions
I like Sims 2 approach when it comes to townies. They have premade npcs and random ones don’t generate as chaotically as in Sims 4. Also in locations like Twikki island, University campuses and such you can’t see npcs from your main hood and npcs in Takemizu village for example tend to wear traditional clothes. In sims 4 however townies are a nightmare, even premade ones, that’s why I only build and create sims in Sims 4
I have a dream that one day the gallery will not only work and be easier to navigate, but allow modders to upload their own creations that aren't trademarked for simmers to download. It would be so awesome to shop online and have new furniture delivered to your sim's home or go to a rabbit hole store that brings up the gallery so you can shop with a try on option that brings you to create a sim to see it fully.
@Artoria Pendragon some people are having issues with the gallery. Mine works just fine too, but there’s definitely quite a few people reporting problems with it

Personnally this is kinda high on my list, but 2 things I would want to be fixed before the ugly townies is 1- like you said at the beginning, skin color that FITS the parents... and 2- removing the diet part in the new year's resolutions, especially when my sims is so skinny that she wouldn't even be able to live IRL
It’s wild that making winter and summer clothes for older sims is something that Maxis has to be recommended to do and yet. Love the idea of choosing pre-made sims as townie rather than generating randoms. I’m on of those people who creates tons of family and moving them in and giving them jobs is a bit too much to do just start the game so that would be a good idea.
In my new game that I recently started the only two mermaids were 1 in the Eco-expansion town and the other in the desert town ( not Strangeville) none in the tropical islands of island living. What does that tell about broken systems? And why would a person from island living to Japan dressed like you about to walk the beaches that drives me crazy! Good vid dude.
I would think the clothing issue could be fixed relatively easily be making it so the randomly generated clothing would have to match-- color (white/black as freebies), length (no sweater/shorts combos), then give random townies a "preferred style" (so they'd pick boho/preppy/etc.). Should keep "unique" locations such as Island Living/Snowy Escape/Batuu locked to their particular areas-- randomly generated clothing in those areas could only pick from those packs, and randomly generated clothing not from those areas couldn't pick from the packs. I also agree on the randomly generated townies fitting the vibe of those unique locations a bit better-- if facial features are too complicated to program, more simple selections like hair color/skin tone could still help a lot.
great thoughts, as usual. I did spend hours hand selecting scores of sims on the gallery to stock my library with, so they are pulled from there to populate my game.. It helped me create a diverse world, with well dressed sims. Sims I want my sims to meet.
i love when i'm trying to have a dinner date and judith ward appears and suddenly grinds the date and the dine out scripting to a halt, making an already stressful and often not-working experience even WORSE because literally every sim needs to walk over to her.
And if that doesn't happen, the game will still force random townies to barge into your conversation so that suddenly it's an awkward group chat that takes forever to x out of. They really need to disable idle chatter for dates, it makes no sense.

How to fix The Sims 4: Option 1 - Wait for Arnie and other modders to fix everything that EA and the devs won't. Option 2 - Play The Sims 3. Option 3 - Wait for and buy Paralives, in the hope it's better.
@@realtoastt9076 True and that was intended as part of the 'wait for Paralives' bit, I just didn't say it outright. Right now, we don't know enough about it but by launch we'll know a lot more. Then we'll be able to better judge whether it's worth buying. :-)
@@shelleyburr3988 I'm slowly getting TS3 versions of the TS4 mods I really like. Once I get them, the plan is to go back to TS3. I want to rebuild my TS4 lots as well, so I need to screenshot all of them. Time is a huge factor in that and it's time I don't have.

I never thought about this but I would actually love to hand pick and make a bunch of sims for each world lol. I would also love it if certain worlds were “near” each other while other are “far away” that way you might see some sims from another world but not a lot and it would make more sense
Building the population for each town takes work - cut to sims 3 with populated maps ten times the size and every person has their own little biography. Seriously there was a sims version of Egypt France China and Italy in Sims 3. Every Sims 3 world had people to match the location. Personally I think it should be up to EA to populate the worlds cause 1. It's THEIR job 2. Gallery sims tend to look very similar (like 95% are thin white young adults, not that there's anything wrong with being thin white or young, no shame on anyone it's not a very accurate reflection of real life).
The magical realm sages, Vlad, Guidry, Bonehila, and -(for lore because it's missing)- Bella Goth should be the only ones to pop out randomly in every world.
A wierd thing I’ve discovered is that once families (townies)grow up / old and die they seem to fail to reproduce and all the houses in my world are empty but there are people all over.......
Recently remade the Monty family from Sims 2 in my Sims 4 game. If I get tired of seeing the same NPCs over and over on community lots I've been having the Montys just break their necks and murder them using the extreme violence mod and pretending they owed them money or something. Funny that you made this video though as just yesterday I was trying to find a husband for Bianca (sometimes I like my sims to just find a random townie to marry) and could not find one bc they were all either a ghost, elder, married, teen or Judith Ward. Idk why but my game doesnt like to spawn single adult males. Love the vid!
Idk what color blue and red sims make so it might still be wrong (eg if they make a green sim), but as far as genetics go I wouldn’t want them to make purple sims necessarily. You’d end up with no primary color sims after a generation.
Once again Carl you hit the nail on the head and I love you for it! LOL Thank you for putting it in an amusing way. Custom Content, does help with some of that issue, not all... sadly. Judith showing up seems like a force of nature LOL but MCCC , and I know not all want to down load mods, nor should we have too, does give you and option of what percentage of sims from your library ( or Tray ) that you want to randomly show up in your game. This helps mix up the population a bit, but does nothing for Judith. lol I am working on building a clean save with its own townies. for the most part, but that would be an extreme way to help a bit with the issue that we should not have to worry about in the first place. I did something last year for Halloween. I go a mod that allows you to do dark spell casting.. and I went to the PBP ( I think that is what it is called) When the stars got their awards to kill all the stars. it kind of felt good and it was amusing. It seemed like an episode of Grey Still Plays! LOL Grimm comes and gives up because there is too many corpses..so what does he do? He grabs the mic and starts telling jokes. LOL OMG IT WAS TOO FUNNY. BUT the point is for every star I killed off a new one generated and came to the award show. I think once you kill off the stars.. then well that should be it. I even made a graveyard for them as well! it was pretty good. Their ghosts desecrated each others tombstones and all. Anywhooooooo thanks Carl for another video! Keep up the good work! I hope the sims stays like this, I would miss your videos!
I also think Sims should go to work when you’re not playing them on the days they’re supposed to. It’s so weird to see Sims just roaming about when they should be working and there’s no consequences.
Yesss, and please making appropiate warm and cold wear for those sims that were in the game BEFORE seasons.. like pancakes, ghot, fyres, pizzazz, etc.... absolutely NEEDED

I remember once I sent my Sims to the park in cold weather and there was an event somehow filled with mermaids...grim reaper had a field day. It was in Willow Creek, poor mermaids so far from home.

It is so annoying when I want to go have my second/third generation sims meet new people and I go to a lot and it’s full of old townies and maybe one child, can they make it so non-played sims have kids or disappear after some time or something, I’m sick of seeing 80 year old summer holiday in the middle of the bar
This is like my number one problem with the game. Every Sims 3 world had 40-50 different sims exclusive to that one town, but in The Sims 4 you're seeing the same damn sims constantly. Like why are Celebrities showing up at my University town? We'd be lucky to get 10 new sims in a town now, It's just pure laziness and down to the sims gurus not wanting to make fleshed out characters with backstories.
I just desperately want to be able to disable random generation of sims and allow the game to either randomly select or allow manual selection of sims for required npc functions
you can choose which sims spawn in as townies with mc command center, you can edit the percentage of sims that are pulled from your library, so if you choose 100%, all of the townies being spawned will be those in your library its so good
@@fleacythesheepgirl I'm not judging the ring lol. Eyeball ring just had a problem in the past where it appeared on many, many townies. It was overtuned or something, and has since been tuned back to appear less frequently.
Frankly, the only ones that need a crazy outfit is those who has the Erratic trait (and any CC traits that fall into the same category). I would make the exception when it came down to creating your own movies and commercials (Get Famous). But otherwise, come on.
I don't mind as long as they're fully dressed, not randomly have the default pink underwear randomly. If I had a nsfw mod in the game it would just be so much worse.
I know players should not have to rely on mods BUT, The MCC Command center do offer the option to generate new sims using only what you have saved in your library.
Jokes on you. I've filled my sim world full of vampires that have lived for 500+ days . All of the original townies are dead and gone and 80% of the world are all my creations 😂

I keep adding to and editing my own save file, from which I start almost all new saves now. It's mostly me making townies into normal, realistic people with small backstory and personalities. It's actually really exciting to see them nowadays when they're roaming around or showing up at public venues! I'm always thrilled when I see some who are friends from work (like two of my bartenders who work at the same bar) show up together at the karaoke bar I built. My makeup artist and costume designer at the acting studio are a married couple. It's just really cool, but... the only reason I did it in the first place was because of this game's terrible randomly generated Sims. Which is just sad.
yes this is how I play too its great. people complain maybe bc its nit the game for them. you gotta actually plaay the game... I dont know why people complain when they cannjust do this, its part of the game.
i love this idea. i'm so over the terribly dressed townies that i already randomly browse the gallery and just add sims to my save, try to stay on top of culling, etc .... it helps but not enough, and is a lot of work. your idea would .... be so much better than my thing.
Sims 3 handled travel better. When I visit China, the population was....Chinese. Also, it was cool to be able to call Sims you met there and have them visit you.
Give me a HD remake of Urbz Sims in the City. All districts in that game where somewhat diverse, mainly wearing what's popular to that place. And other "Sims" cared about what you where wearing.
Maybe more group visits from the entire household of sims? You only get one sim that comes over. Would be cool if more sims would come in and visit you.

You have the option to "set as front door" with doors. Would it really be that hard to have a "set as kitchen sink" function?
Meanwhile in the Sims 3, One kitchen sink, two bathrooms, one of which is off the kitchen. The only time I've ever seen a sim wash a plate in either bathroom was when both the dishwasher and the kitchen sink was in use.
Their must be some sort of code that can make the sink in the kitchen attractive to a sim with a stack of dishes.

I do find it very annoying that Lazy Sims go to the Gym, while Active Sims go to lounges. And only Anglers should be fishing as NPCs. Loves Outdoor trait people should be going to parks. Active Sims should be playing basketball and skiing. Certain lots should be places where certain sims with certain personality traits.

Unplayed Sims ought to have appropriate skills, too. I only recently got Get Together, had a Sim join the athletic group, and these premade numskulls in the group are all tripping on the treadmills and whatnot because of their lack of fitness skill.
SO MUCH LOST POTENTIAL! The whole thing with Sims4 was that our sims were supposed to have "personalities". And yet, traits do so very little to affect their actual day-to-day lives. Active sims should be the ones at the gym! Bookworms should be at the library! Nerdbrains should be at Geekcon! Romantics should be at the romance festival!
Is this really that difficult? Why do their personalities have zero impact on where we're going to find them?
This a really cool idea, especially for Sims to meet certain types of Sims. Like maybe my Sim wants to date someone active, so she heads to the gym to maximise her chances. Makes sense.

With MCCC I make generation of random Sims all female and ya. Then I cull them manually every 2 Sims days.

Consider TS3: World Adventures. Because the individual worlds were completely separate from each other, when you traveled to another country, it really felt like you had gone to another country. All of the locals looked and acted like they belonged there and there were even some local customs to observe. You didn't have Nancy Landgraab selling you artifacts in Egypt, you had an Egyptian Sim there. In TS4, you go to Japan and see like 5 Japanese Sims while your next door neighbor from Willow Creek sashays past in a ballgown. It doesn't feel like another country at all. In fact, you don't even have to have a visa, you can just pop over to Japan for an hour or two if you want and be back in time for dinner. Why even have a destination like that if it doesn't feel special?
Exactly. I hate to be that salty Sims player that can't let go of the Sims 3, but almost every time I watch one of Carl's "issues with the Sims 4" videos I think to myself "oh, you mean like what we had in TS3?".
I get that TS3 had it's own issues and they wanted to do new stuff with TS4, but I really feel like a perfect game would be having TS4 CAS abilities (once they fix skintones... again) in a Sims 3 game. But that's just my opinion, of course.

Yeah this was a huge problem for me regarding realism. Why can my sim go from their home in Oasis Springs to community lots in San Myschuno and Willow Creek in a day...I know this is a hot take, but I far rathered the closed off towns in The Sims 3.

I know there's a mod for this somewhere but I'm sick of seeing celeb sims places that don't have the get famous lot traits. Like my sim can't socialize with anyone, walk places because other sims have fainted, and can't use certain services because the people that are supposed to be handling them are busy watching the celeb sims.
For whatever reason the game works on the "last known sims". What I do is go to an area and knock on people's doors and interact with them. I hate judith ward, I took her house and moved her into THE BIN. Mwahahaha!
I barely play the game part, I'm more of a builder, yet even I'm sick of the same sims turning up everywhere. It's like they stalk you, that ex who won't accept that it's over. Sacricial's violence mod is useful in these situations. ;-)

This! The idea to pull them from the Gallery is interesting, but I'm kinda worried that if it was in any way based on popular Gallery Sims, our towns would consist of 90% pregnant teen blonde girl Sims and extremely attractive YA men with all the same traits... I prefer the game randomly generating faces, body types and skin tones for the sake of diversity. But using preset outfits for their clothing, AND letting players save more outfits that could then be used on townies would fix most of the clothing issues, IMO.
This is a brilliant idea too. They could lean on player-made styles to generate randoms for people who do not want to make their own.

I, for one, like having my townies look good, but I don't have the patience to dress them one by one, nor do I have enough imagination to make their outfits look different. For this reason, I find the styles part very useful, but the problem is, I run out of them quickly. If they just let us create, share and download outfits, this wouldn't be a problem.
@@vikkisims6364 yeah! Honestly I use styles all the time when starting up new games whenever I dont feel like dressing up the sims myself. But I also have so many great outfits that I've made over the years that I want to reuse but that I wont because the time and effort it would take to remake them every time is too tedious. If I could save outfits that I create I would do it all the time!

It would be awesome to assign a home world or even district for Townies/NPCs in the family manager. Make a tab for each of the Worlds & then general Population (for those NPCs you WANT to keep constant & Sims you don't care about). Then you have a check box or something to mark unplayed neighbor or something. Like, let me pretend that all of those decorative houses actually have residents & these Sims in interacting with are them.

It's good that there are mods that can pick up the slack from EA/Maxis. But unfortunately, no amount of mods or CC will ever help us console players, who can use neither. Our games are only what EA/Maxis gives us, nothing more.
That being said, I think it would be best not to rely too much on mods and CC and force the issue back where it belongs - in the hands of the games creators, and not us players.
Honestly, I don't want townies. At all. Not well dressed, "world appropriate," or fresh out of the gallery. I want the not in world, unemployed sims I made picked for everything first for anything and only then for the game to generate townies as necessary. I want to shut off nonessential townie generation and have since the game released so I do not have to constantly purge my saves of them.
So I do not bat an eyelash when I see Bob Pancakes for the thousandth time in my neighborhood and then again on vacation. I roll my eyes a little when all four of my five star celebrities in the file appear at the college dorms, but I am much more annoyed by the randos that populate for no good reason right beside them.
I heavily desire them to back up that "play with life" "you're in control" stuff with actual detailed game options. It's important. This game cannot be tailored to one type of player.

I said it before in one of your other videos, but it's like most game devs (at least sim or RPG) these days can't make something deep then build in options for the player, they've got to make shallow crud and then try to imp things in later, which usually flops harder than just leaving things alone.
Sims 3, I've not played in a while, but I'm sure had options to turn of individual supernaturals, celebs (and opt out household) and knock out world roam for sims, yet somehow the current dev team can't go over that code and rejigger it to whatever the current language is? Really?

@@maybelikealittlebit I do a lot of family gameplay or storylines I also use a lot of mods which yeah I barely feel like downloading those, but it’s worth it. Sometimes I’ll do like a storyline about a single mom in uni or something. And then other times I’ll use the occult sims for a storyline, or I’ll do a rich celebrity family one 😂 the way I play is very basic, but I enjoy it.
Your suggestion reminds me of Spore and how the creatures were basically a PNG file with information embedded in it and somehow it worked in 2008 but it is too much in 2014. You're right, I mean, the gallery is there, at release there were all those SimGuru characters floating around, I remember downloading a lot of "canon" sims like Bjorn Tu'Rock and Amber Stein and other sims that are not in game but were heavily in promotional materials, because I wanted my game to "feel" like it was "right", whatever that is.
I wish EA would enable something like you talk about, but I am not holding my breath. Some producers have mentioned that the reason why the worlds started getting smaller and smaller is for compatibility reasons and having a dedicated population to each world would put a huge strain on older setups. Maxis is proud of TS4 being able to play on a toaster (as long as it's a 64 bit toaster with Directx 9), so they'll cut any corners to save memory load. Honestly I think that even TS5 is going to have a similar population problem because of this.
True enough. But that's starting to backfire with all these packs. I have over what's minimum and it still runs like a toaster. The only game that does it is Sims. So I call bullshit on EA's memory excuses. In fact, I call bullshit on ALL of EA's excuses.
But you see, they never promised a toaster would run the whole game smoothly. It loads and that is their selling point. That was pretty much the downfall of TS3 as well and TS4 is going the same path: too many packs, no cohesive narrative, all over the place. And simmers assume they *have* to have *all* the packs, or it's not the game "as intended", so we end up spending thousands and thousands of dollars on it.
I personally stopped buying at Uni. I still look at new releases, "that's cool" and all, but I don't think EA is selling a gaming experience I am interested in spening any more money on. Every now and then I play my families a bit, tend the neighborhood and maintain the mods I have installed, but that's it.
Do you honestly believe there will be a TS5? They've said if TS4 doesn't make them bajillions of Simoleons they won't make one. People are so peeved over TS4 I think that's the reason they just keep adding to it, rather than creating an entirely new version.
@@maidenminnesota1 There will, they are working on it. And TS4 did make them tons of money. I own packs worth 550 dollars, at least if I had bought all of them at full price. However, my expectations: TS5 is gonna be like the latest packs: Visually impressive, lacking in gameplay and releasing in an unpolished state. Price: 60-70 $. I don't know how "online" it's going to be, but if they made it a live service with additional micro transactions, it would be very much EA. And if they want players to interact within the Sims world, it would require even less gameplay and the characters being even less unique by themselves. Buying all the packs currently on the market for TS4 costs 750 $. So I guess the amount of money they're making is huge. So it would be just as much EA to pump out a ton more to make even more money. There will be a TS5 for sure. But if they don't let the devs put enough effort into it, it may fail miserably as soon as Paralives gets released.
The reason for the many new packs for TS4 is probably that you can keep milking the fanbase while creating a new game.

Plus, their two mobile Sims games are the real moneymakers in all likelihood (the old one is still around and should appeal to Sims 2/3 players but they made a new one with shinier graphics and a more "modern" approach to app games of its ilk.) I think Sims 4 is developed with the newer app in mind, so they can borrow assets for microtransactions. They certainly reused some of them at launch so why stop there?

@@CarlsSimGuides I think the animationsn are pretty, but they sometimes don't make much sense, or don't really "fit." To me, they were a bit jarring. It's like you use the sims videos to practice your animation skills with blender (or whatever program u use), and then stick them in randomly.

I started a household with YA guy with his Teen girl cousin, she aged up and i moved her out so i could start a family with the guy the game gave her a job in the tech career the same as the guy had to this day she is the only townie in that playthrough that has a proper job

i dont agree i dont want to see sims made by a fourteen years old girl that think a masculin man should not have fat and be super athletic and have huge eyes, and small jaw small chin small weist... you know where im going... and see flat chess, large fat women... or again huge eyes etc... i would much prefer having the option to design myself/randomize at will in cas, some townies with really specific jobs, like a tool to control who is what, who is fireman and in which neighborhood etc...
@@Klondike877 I would be nice if they just gave the players control over who appears in their world. We can use the gallery a tick any gallery sims made by others to be used as random sims, or we could let maxis RNG do it, or we can turn the maxis RNG off and fill the world with our own custom made sims. The point is give players the tools to play the game how they want, letting the player be in control of the world.
Spore had a similar concept. It was "online" in that other players could share their creations, and those creations would be automatically downloaded into your spore's current evolution ecosystem.
Yes, yes, yes. I agree with everything you said in this video. I see the same random Sims everywhere so much, I'm starting to dislike them all. For instance, I send my Sim to the gym. They see the same people there ALL the time. I've had my Sim "gym hop" and the same Sims show up all the sudden. Stalkers. I shouldn't see Don Lothario and Eliza Pancakes at the gym in Windenburg. At the gyms in their respective towns sure, but not EVERY gym!!

I want a "make townie family" option in CAS that lets you not just make townies and choose their household relationships, but set their careers and some skills as well. The caveat being, the household can't be played - you have to get them to move in or marry you same as you would any other NPC.

I like Sims 2 approach when it comes to townies. They have premade npcs and random ones don’t generate as chaotically as in Sims 4. Also in locations like Twikki island, University campuses and such you can’t see npcs from your main hood and npcs in Takemizu village for example tend to wear traditional clothes.
In sims 4 however townies are a nightmare, even premade ones, that’s why I only build and create sims in Sims 4
To be fair, the slopes are a tourist destination. That said, would be nice to see more Japanese sims down in the town.

I have a dream that one day the gallery will not only work and be easier to navigate, but allow modders to upload their own creations that aren't trademarked for simmers to download. It would be so awesome to shop online and have new furniture delivered to your sim's home or go to a rabbit hole store that brings up the gallery so you can shop with a try on option that brings you to create a sim to see it fully.

It’s wild that making winter and summer clothes for older sims is something that Maxis has to be recommended to do and yet. Love the idea of choosing pre-made sims as townie rather than generating randoms. I’m on of those people who creates tons of family and moving them in and giving them jobs is a bit too much to do just start the game so that would be a good idea.
In my new game that I recently started the only two mermaids were 1 in the Eco-expansion town and the other in the desert town ( not Strangeville) none in the tropical islands of island living. What does that tell about broken systems? And why would a person from island living to Japan dressed like you about to walk the beaches that drives me crazy! Good vid dude.

I would think the clothing issue could be fixed relatively easily be making it so the randomly generated clothing would have to match-- color (white/black as freebies), length (no sweater/shorts combos), then give random townies a "preferred style" (so they'd pick boho/preppy/etc.).
Should keep "unique" locations such as Island Living/Snowy Escape/Batuu locked to their particular areas-- randomly generated clothing in those areas could only pick from those packs, and randomly generated clothing not from those areas couldn't pick from the packs.
I also agree on the randomly generated townies fitting the vibe of those unique locations a bit better-- if facial features are too complicated to program, more simple selections like hair color/skin tone could still help a lot.

great thoughts, as usual. I did spend hours hand selecting scores of sims on the gallery to stock my library with, so they are pulled from there to populate my game.. It helped me create a diverse world, with well dressed sims. Sims I want my sims to meet.
using Gallery Sims that are world specific as NPCs would be such a great idea!! i would love that as an option.
i love when i'm trying to have a dinner date and judith ward appears and suddenly grinds the date and the dine out scripting to a halt, making an already stressful and often not-working experience even WORSE because literally every sim needs to walk over to her.
And if that doesn't happen, the game will still force random townies to barge into your conversation so that suddenly it's an awkward group chat that takes forever to x out of.
They really need to disable idle chatter for dates, it makes no sense.
I use a mod to keep the regular sims from being spellcasters. So no more Bob Pancakes running around the Realm of Magic.

Option 1 - Wait for Arnie and other modders to fix everything that EA and the devs won't.
Option 2 - Play The Sims 3.
Option 3 - Wait for and buy Paralives, in the hope it's better.

@@realtoastt9076 True and that was intended as part of the 'wait for Paralives' bit, I just didn't say it outright. Right now, we don't know enough about it but by launch we'll know a lot more. Then we'll be able to better judge whether it's worth buying. :-)

@@shelleyburr3988 I'm slowly getting TS3 versions of the TS4 mods I really like. Once I get them, the plan is to go back to TS3. I want to rebuild my TS4 lots as well, so I need to screenshot all of them. Time is a huge factor in that and it's time I don't have.

I never thought about this but I would actually love to hand pick and make a bunch of sims for each world lol. I would also love it if certain worlds were “near” each other while other are “far away” that way you might see some sims from another world but not a lot and it would make more sense

Building the population for each town takes work - cut to sims 3 with populated maps ten times the size and every person has their own little biography.
Seriously there was a sims version of Egypt France China and Italy in Sims 3. Every Sims 3 world had people to match the location.
Personally I think it should be up to EA to populate the worlds cause 1. It's THEIR job 2. Gallery sims tend to look very similar (like 95% are thin white young adults, not that there's anything wrong with being thin white or young, no shame on anyone it's not a very accurate reflection of real life).
The magical realm sages, Vlad, Guidry, Bonehila, and -(for lore because it's missing)- Bella Goth should be the only ones to pop out randomly in every world.

A wierd thing I’ve discovered is that once families (townies)grow up / old and die they seem to fail to reproduce and all the houses in my world are empty but there are people all over.......
Can we make edges and chest hair in their own section of hair so if we want them we can add them and if we don’t we don’t have to

I think they need to implement a color wheel for clothes they could totally do it seeing what they did for the skin tones.
Recently remade the Monty family from Sims 2 in my Sims 4 game. If I get tired of seeing the same NPCs over and over on community lots I've been having the Montys just break their necks and murder them using the extreme violence mod and pretending they owed them money or something. Funny that you made this video though as just yesterday I was trying to find a husband for Bianca (sometimes I like my sims to just find a random townie to marry) and could not find one bc they were all either a ghost, elder, married, teen or Judith Ward. Idk why but my game doesnt like to spawn single adult males.

I thought with the skin color upgrade, genetic kid of blue and red sim, would be purple. Its not :(
Idk what color blue and red sims make so it might still be wrong (eg if they make a green sim), but as far as genetics go I wouldn’t want them to make purple sims necessarily. You’d end up with no primary color sims after a generation.

Once again Carl you hit the nail on the head and I love you for it! LOL Thank you for putting it in an amusing way. Custom Content, does help with some of that issue, not all... sadly. Judith showing up seems like a force of nature LOL but MCCC , and I know not all want to down load mods, nor should we have too, does give you and option of what percentage of sims from your library ( or Tray ) that you want to randomly show up in your game. This helps mix up the population a bit, but does nothing for Judith. lol I am working on building a clean save with its own townies. for the most part, but that would be an extreme way to help a bit with the issue that we should not have to worry about in the first place. I did something last year for Halloween. I go a mod that allows you to do dark spell casting.. and I went to the PBP ( I think that is what it is called) When the stars got their awards to kill all the stars. it kind of felt good and it was amusing. It seemed like an episode of Grey Still Plays! LOL Grimm comes and gives up because there is too many corpses..so what does he do? He grabs the mic and starts telling jokes. LOL OMG IT WAS TOO FUNNY. BUT the point is for every star I killed off a new one generated and came to the award show. I think once you kill off the stars.. then well that should be it. I even made a graveyard for them as well! it was pretty good. Their ghosts desecrated each others tombstones and all. Anywhooooooo thanks Carl for another video! Keep up the good work! I hope the sims stays like this, I would miss your videos!
I also think Sims should go to work when you’re not playing them on the days they’re supposed to. It’s so weird to see Sims just roaming about when they should be working and there’s no consequences.

My favorite fix is to delete ALL the premade townies ten seconds after starting a new game. Confuses the crap out of EA, too.
Yesss, and please making appropiate warm and cold wear for those sims that were in the game BEFORE seasons.. like pancakes, ghot, fyres, pizzazz, etc.... absolutely NEEDED

I remember once I sent my Sims to the park in cold weather and there was an event somehow filled with mermaids...grim reaper had a field day. It was in Willow Creek, poor mermaids so far from home.

It is so annoying when I want to go have my second/third generation sims meet new people and I go to a lot and it’s full of old townies and maybe one child, can they make it so non-played sims have kids or disappear after some time or something, I’m sick of seeing 80 year old summer holiday in the middle of the bar

This is like my number one problem with the game. Every Sims 3 world had 40-50 different sims exclusive to that one town, but in The Sims 4 you're seeing the same damn sims constantly. Like why are Celebrities showing up at my University town? We'd be lucky to get 10 new sims in a town now, It's just pure laziness and down to the sims gurus not wanting to make fleshed out characters with backstories.
I just desperately want to be able to disable random generation of sims and allow the game to either randomly select or allow manual selection of sims for required npc functions

you can choose which sims spawn in as townies with mc command center, you can edit the percentage of sims that are pulled from your library, so if you choose 100%, all of the townies being spawned will be those in your library its so good

@@fleacythesheepgirl I'm not judging the ring lol. Eyeball ring just had a problem in the past where it appeared on many, many townies. It was overtuned or something, and has since been tuned back to appear less frequently.
Frankly, the only ones that need a crazy outfit is those who has the Erratic trait (and any CC traits that fall into the same category). I would make the exception when it came down to creating your own movies and commercials (Get Famous). But otherwise, come on.
I don't mind as long as they're fully dressed, not randomly have the default pink underwear randomly. If I had a nsfw mod in the game it would just be so much worse.
I know players should not have to rely on mods BUT, The MCC Command center do offer the option to generate new sims using only what you have saved in your library.
Jokes on you. I've filled my sim world full of vampires that have lived for 500+ days . All of the original townies are dead and gone and 80% of the world are all my creations 😂

I keep adding to and editing my own save file, from which I start almost all new saves now. It's mostly me making townies into normal, realistic people with small backstory and personalities. It's actually really exciting to see them nowadays when they're roaming around or showing up at public venues! I'm always thrilled when I see some who are friends from work (like two of my bartenders who work at the same bar) show up together at the karaoke bar I built. My makeup artist and costume designer at the acting studio are a married couple. It's just really cool, but... the only reason I did it in the first place was because of this game's terrible randomly generated Sims. Which is just sad.
yes this is how I play too its great. people complain maybe bc its nit the game for them. you gotta actually plaay the game... I dont know why people complain when they cannjust do this, its part of the game.
Second option: murder the sims you keep seeing.
i love this idea. i'm so over the terribly dressed townies that i already randomly browse the gallery and just add sims to my save, try to stay on top of culling, etc .... it helps but not enough, and is a lot of work. your idea would .... be so much better than my thing.
Sims 3 handled travel better. When I visit China, the population was....Chinese. Also, it was cool to be able to call Sims you met there and have them visit you.
Give me a HD remake of Urbz Sims in the City. All districts in that game where somewhat diverse, mainly wearing what's popular to that place. And other "Sims" cared about what you where wearing.

Maybe more group visits from the entire household of sims? You only get one sim that comes over. Would be cool if more sims would come in and visit you.
