My writing process is more than just writing, but also thinking, talking about it, and jotting/doodling notes. The writing itself is on done on my weekend mornings. The thinking is done in my morning commute to work which involves a lengthy walk. I just don't have the time/energy/brain power to write inside my 40 hour work week (I have to work for a living.) Come weekends though, and I'm at it. My stopping point is, lol, when I go brain-dead as I call it. I can easily and eagerly put in up to 8000 words on a Saturday morning that stretches into the afternoon (of course those 8000 words later get edited-- piecemeal on my lunch breaks throughout the work week, by hand for the first revision.) I like your idea of doing something regular before starting. I'll have to give that idea some attention, as my eagerness jumps me out of bed and into my writing nook.
As always good, interesting ideas, and practical advice for improving one's writing. The five tips for personal writing process are simple steps that can bring discipline to one's writing routine, making it productive. Thank you.
there are so many aspiring writers. who would read them all? how would anyone pick me, when they can choose enough Pulitzer prize, Nebula Prize or even Nobel prize winning authors to fill up their reading time for decades to come? I completely gave up on ever getting published or even read by anyone but myself, but here i am, trying to improve my craft as an amateur writer, because i just want my dreams on paper.
What's interesting is that the vast majority of readers do not, in fact, choose award-winning literary masterpieces to read. They choose books written by celebrities and books recommended to them by others (friends and SM contacts in the main) much more frequently. If you are passionate about your writing, don't worry about all those potential readers. Just write. As someone once said, no one can read a blank page. Fill that page! P.
Thanks for your help.
Thank you so much. I am breathing a sigh of relief.
Your writing process tips matches my daily routine, so I approve of them all. I've published more than a million words by adhering to them.
