New to your channel Steve & have to say a very informative, well put together vlog. Liking your explanations of shots & your 'cheerful' vlogging style. Have subscribed & look forward to looking at your back catalogue...thank you 👍
Loved the vid, done that walk a few times and got nothing from it, usually birding though. If you go again, use the RSPB car park, it's a lot closer to the old jetty, and the wall. You can get some great sunsets there looking across the Wash and you can often see Lincolnshire on the horizon, and it's especially good when the wading birds are pushed up off the mud on very high tides, they silhouette against the orange sky, often making all sorts of shapes as they fly around in flocks of hundreds and sometimes thousands to a flock. You are a braver man than me though going on that mud, the tide will come in in a blink of an eye and you don't want to be stuck out there.
Thank you for watching Steve 👍 yes I understand there is quite the display of birds, certainly something to think about when I go back. I did see the rspb car park but was advised vans aren't allowed, especially as I have a high top. Hopefully you can confirm it for me? I got to admit I didn't venture to far from the shore lol, although I was more worried about sinking 😅
@@RoamingPhotography not sure about the hight restriction, you may well be right though, I've never noticed but best I do as I'm likely to be in a van myself next time I visit. Probably best to contact the RSPB, maybe at Titchwell as Snettisham isn't a manned reserve. Re the waders, the spectacular, as it's called, only happens on very high tides, if my memory is correct it's tides over 7m, but there is a predicted table on the RSPB Snettisham website. It does get very busy indeed, but worth the effort. Morning the sun shines on the birds and they change from silver to black as they turn and it makes a starling murmuration look ok, and against a sunset they are silhouetted. Don't go on a normal high tide as you'll end up walking all that way and looking at mud as the tide comes in and out miles away, I know from bitter experience 🙄🤣Look forward to seeing more of your vids 👍👍
Nice one Steve. I stumbled on finding your channel after a tip off from someone who incidentally looked a bit like you at Cannock chase a few weeks back 😂. Anyway the last time Was diwn that area shooting cracks, I got into a bit of a brawl with two other photographers. Lovely images, mate and hope you didn't fill too many memery cards to get them. 😂😂
Thanks Colin 👌 Sounds like you bumped into a very intelligent good looking young fella with great taste 🤣🤣🤣 Hope you gave the other two what for mate lol 👊👊😵💫
Another great video Steve. At first I thought you were at Dungeoness! Enjoyed the detail photos. Shame about about the boundaries but enjoyed the detail shots.
Steve that grass around the jetty is actually Samphire , you can eat it. I love it there especially when there is a spectacular and the waders mermerate behind the jetty.
Yes I ahve sonce found out is was Samphire lol the lady at the campsite we stayed on said people travel far to see the murmurations, sounds like it is an amazing site. Thank you for watching 👌
Hi Phil, the first image was taken at iso 80 - f/13 - 1/20sec - 28mm for both versions but 10stop filter added for the long exposure to make 30 sec exposure, the second image iso 64 - f/13 - 2min - 65mm (10 stop filter), third image iso 64 - f/20 - 4 min - 40mm, "bird" detail shot iso 320 - f/13 - 1/13 sec - 200mm focus stacked, "top down" detail shot iso 64 - f/11 - 1/3sec - 51mm, the final shot across the puddle was iso 64 - f/11 - 1/40 sec 24mm focus stacked. Hope this helps 👍
Hi, it was great to meet you at Cannock Chase the other week on the Thumbs up meet up. I was already subscribed to your channel that's why I recognised you but couldn't remember where from 😊 I had the same issue at Snettisham when I visited in May a couple of years ago, right in the height of the breeding season so access was restricted and grass around the Groynes. To be honest I'm not sure if I actually took any photos of the old jetty. I did take a few images of areas of cracked mud but I'm not that happy with them. Does the grass disappear over the winter months do you know?
Hi Paul, it was good to meet you to, enjoyed that morning, looking forward to the next one 👍 I have just done some research and it is called Samphire (its edible!) apparently, and it grows prolifically on mud flats, so I googled "does coastal samphire grow all year?" and got this... "No, the UK season runs from approx June through to September. Outside of these months, samphire disappears, usually with the frosts in autumn." So hopefully it is a good winter shoot, but my googling isn't the best lol I usually end up with baked bean recipes. 🫤
@@RoamingPhotographyah that's great to know. If I'd known it was samphire I'd have dug some up 😊 it's really nice 😋 I've asked the Thumbs up team to try and sort another date out for the next meet because my calendar is getting quite busy through Sept - Nov as I'll be visiting Northumberland and the Peak District plus a few trips to the Lakes

@@RoamingPhotography Thanks so much. Great images. Love them. Have you been to Happisburgh? There are some good old broken down sea defenses and a light house that's good for long exposure shots.
Thank you, yes I have Lee, wonderful place but I didn't vlog there, I plan to go and make a vlog there shortly, check out these links to my FB page for the image posts from when I went, I love a lot of these shots. facebook.com/share/p/reoAWoXHzXDpDJx2/ facebook.com/share/p/FsUAgLSQggX2MRRS/ facebook.com/share/p/MqaaGMidQ3F5Y9ib/
