Nigerian society is WAY too skewed towards the men. I am listening to my 77 y.o. Nigerian father talk on the phone to someone in Nigeria and he is speaking about how a woman was essentially killed by her own son and husband and nothing was done about it. And my father further described the murdered woman as someone of wonderful character with a cheerful disposition. I don't think they set out to kill her necessarily but in beating her (struck her head against a wooden or concrete beam) they ended up killing her. This happens often. Instead of bemoaning how women are leaving their husbands once they come abroad, these men should speak out against and do something about the unconscionable violence that is habitually inflicted on women in Nigeria and is seen as a man's right to inflict on his wife/mother/etc.
I hate hearing that men were not brought up to do house chores in Nigeria. I was born and raised Nigeria, I watched my father helping out in our home. Just like my other 4 brothers, I cook, clean and do dishes. Quit with the men only know how to go out and make money bullshit. I'm a mental health nurse, a deputy manager in a hospital ward, that has never stopped me cooking, cleaning... when I have the time. All this hangs on how you were brought up.
