I personally worked for Mr.Snow in the 80's, been a guest at this house in Wichita Falls TX more than once, here's the rest of the story about two points in this video. None of the Banks in Leland's home town of Wichita Falls TX believed in his dream, the reason Air Tractor is located in Olney TX a 40 minute drive from Wichita Falls, is because thats where he got financing to start his company and the reason he was in South America working one of his prototypes is because the FAA would not allow him to work his aircraft inside the US. Mr. Snow was an aeronautical genius and a gentleman aviator of the highest order.

I tried to get a job at Air Tractor after getting out of A&P school. Mr. Snow wrote me a letter that said they weren't hiring at the time but appreciated my interest. Still have that letter around here somewhere.

Leland is and will always be a genius. i am an airforce brat.... many airshows i climbed all over any airplane you can name.... there was a different day. the Staff of Altus Ag Air gave me a guided tour of their operation.... they had a 401A under overhaul.... no skin on! saw the moly tube frame.... wow.... they showed me how the pump and sprayers work... they put me in the seat of a 401A and they let me pull the levers... i have found other ways to enjoy life.... but tell you right now... if i could feel the weeds on the wheels of my Air Tractor....

In 1960 I serviced planes at the Mineral Wells Municipal airport.. I well remember the 1950s Snow planes. They weren't elegant, but they were hell for strong. Many had fabric fuselages. They were pretty rough looking, hell for strong.
They were flown by mostly WWII and Korean war fighter pilots. The plane had to be strong, these guys flew the airplane. not checking a computer.
I built aircraft for 40 years. I just watched a video on the building of an Air Tractor. The welded tube technology has been scrapped by the rest of the aircraft industry. But it builds one strong fuselage.

Mr. Lane let me land at his airport to pick up my Uncle. Lane Aviation is the sole distributor for Air Tractor in the southern United States. He and his entire family are the friendliest people you could ever meet. Their handicap parking says for Aggie’s only in reference to Texas A&M.
