I have a channel, but haven’t posted in over a year. I recorded on a canon e350, but honestly my iPhone would be just as good of quality, and easier editing too 😅
I actually have 2 channels. I accidentally created 3 RUclips accounts and recently changed 2 of them into channels to post content on. My first is @randomthoughts127 which helps me focus on my thoughts while having ADHD, so yes, it's very random. My 2nd channel (@learningphotography127) is about revisiting photography/videography and learning the arts. I would love to have you view either of them once I get more content and do a roast session or a very friendly constructive feedback, lol. I use a Motorola Stylus G5 2023 and a G-Anica Digital Point and Shoot Camera. I also use a Movek microphone setup. I have a ring light, and I occasionally use it.
I have a channel I just started for my business (this is my personal account I’m commenting from) I’m not tech savvy AT ALL but I started with VN just off my phone. I so far only know basic functions. I need to learn about canva and using a green screen. It’s really a little overwhelming for me right now trying to figure out editing.
Hi Virginia! Wow! Thank you so much for responding! I have never commented on a video on RUclips and you are my first! I do have a channel but haven't finalized it yet so it's not official. I plan on recording just on my phone as I am not a techie at all! 59 and have a lot to learn! Also, I have an ancient iphone 6. Should I buy a new phone??
Yes, the easiest for you at the moment is so true! I hated having to set up a mic and be close to it, so I stopped using it and enjoyed the whole process more. After a year I'm to the point where I feel comfortable trying a mic again (though a wireless one) because I know I'm actually sticking with it and the process is easier now that I've done it so much.
Binge watching your new video series! I’m a hardcore procrastinator so I really appreciate your straightforward approach… and thank you so much for not using too much background music! Very refreshing
I am sooo glad I found your channel today! PERFECT timing. I am about to start a channel and I have attended workshops, watch hours and hours of videos, attended a 3 day online conference and your short step-by-step videos have been a gamechanger. My plan is to upload my 1st video next week. Thank you so much!!!
Fun, easy, and simple! Yes, please! Definitely would love an iMovie tutorial from you. I can look elsewhere for this, but I like seeing how you do all the things!
I would love a tutorial on how to use the most simple editing software for editing RUclips videos on both my iphone and on my MacBook Pro. I’d love the simplest editing process from start to finish and to upload
I’m in my third year on RUclips and I wish I’d had this advice back when I started out - Thank you for sharing so much useful information and smart ideas.
You certainly don’t need it (!) but since you were talking about skin smoothing effect, have you tried a diffusion filter on your lens, like a black mist? Works great on my iphone and dslrs for portraits, and also gives a glow-ey soft look to any scene, with subtle halo around any light sources in the shot, like streetlamps or desklamps. Diffusion filter softens the over-sharp nature of digital video. Btw…love your content, great advice and fun vibes. Helping me a ton with my small channel.
I'm not sure if you've done this or not, but I think it would be very cool to have a video that introduces people to each of the social platforms from day 1. Walk through a sign-up, and edit the profiles. Then, move on to posting and creating with other options available.
Perfect! I'm in the process of learning RUclips's everything. Switched my main platform from IG to here so this will be just what I need (watching this later!)
Hey, Virginia, thanks for this content, loved it. Could you eventually make one about how you organise your files, like categories and what not? Regards from Chile.
Great info all in one place, Virginia. I have the ZV -1 and added a wide lens on top of the regular lens and it stopped that cropping enough to work well with it.
Considering starting a channel or an insta for our 1940s summer cabin remodel, but as a 'high achiever' who gets 'hyper focused' I'm questioning if I can tackle this with simple efficiency and not deep dive to the point of total derailment. (Ask me how I know.) A question about editing (my biggest area of concern): Do you have a process or methodology for recording, batching, organizing? Deleting? I'm concerned about the many many files I have to 'do something with later'. The idea of organizing or watching through them feels paralyzing. Do you have efficiency tips? Do you have a preferred library or organizational style on your hard drive that's outside of Apple's photo software?
I agree, Final Cut Pro is the goal but whooo big learning curve. I love the easy go-tos. I have everything you recommended except I invested in Olympia camera vs the Sony that was recommended to me … and I don’t recommend it. It’s super confusing and I have no idea how to use it a year later!!
Hi, Virginia, New Subscriber here.....and I just binged watched numerous videos of yours. Wow! Great contact, especially for a beginner like me. I need to update my equipment, but need to keep it super simple. Of the tripods you suggested, is there one that can be used as both a stick AND a traditional tripod? I am leaning toward the Jobe Telexed you suggested. Would that one purchase cover both those functions? My other question is: I have an old iPhone 11. Should I upgrade?
Could you help me (and anyone else clueless like me) understand why changing the lens is important. I keep hearing that in videos as a benefit but dont get why. Thanks in advance
Wow, that’s an amazing informative video. I’ve been following you on Instagram but I had no idea that you have a RUclips channel. I want to start using storytelling and I’m kinda lost. 🤭Hope to be able to follow your incredible tips 🤗thank you so much for sharing your expertise
ZVE10 is like the super camera for people who don't know how to use cameras. Turn it on Auto and go. My wife is learning to use mine and I just have to show her how to turn it on AUTO and forget about anything but framing!
QUESTION? Can I use the LaCie hard drive with my iPhone? To my IPad? I edit on my iPad until my channel grows. I use an iPhone 15. And older iPad. And my first major purchase was my microphone. Storage is a huge problem.
Hi Virginia, I've been watching your videos - good stuff. I'm wondering if you are aware of chem-trailing and are growing tired of silver, hazed over skies. Since you were formerly in TV news. I'm wondering if you have any Meteorology friends who are also aware of what's happening?
I think the beauty mode makes your look too airbrushed sorry 😂. You looked GREAT without it! I’ve been doing this a long time and I realized having one expensive light is worth it. The filler lights can be cheap. iMovie is fine and I’ve been using but thinking of FCP to make life easier not only for animation but color correcting! I just got a great 90 dollar stand that can be a selfie stick for vlogging too. I also suggest a phone holder that screws on side vs the springy thing. I have a pro size phone and had so many mishaps 😅. Good one Virginia!
Love your feedback! I will try one with no beauty mode 😂 yea I have a phone holder that screws in too- I stick to normal size phones not the max to prevent the mishaps 😆
I have a PC I’ll be editing on and was told Filmora is a good one. Do you know anything about that one? I’ll check out the 2 you mentioned. I’d rather use iMovies but it’s just too difficult to do on a phone and a lot of options aren’t there like the Mac.
I’ve heard great things about it. You can use iMovie on your Mac and there are more options on there than your phone. But yea I hear filmora is user friendly 😊
So I recorded a video right on Imovie, but it was taking FOREVER to upload to RUclips or download it to my desktop so that I could upload it to RUclips. What went wrong?
You want to edit on an external hard drive otherwise your computer storage fills up and slows everything down- but the model of your laptop and internet makes a difference too. This video took an hour to upload to RUclips.
Follow you on Instagram and just wanted to say Thank You so much! This has helped me so much because I was just so overwhelmed with where to go because I needed more and you just made it so easy to follow!! 😊
Oh that’s great to hear! It is a a lot and different in many ways but what’s not different is who you’re trying to attract and what they want to see ❤️
Do you have a channel yet? If so, what do you record your videos on?
Your Sony as a fixed frontcam and a Canon R7 for everything that’s happening on my craft-table
I have a channel, but haven’t posted in over a year. I recorded on a canon e350, but honestly my iPhone would be just as good of quality, and easier editing too 😅

I would love a video on how you create all the fun pop ups in Canva then put them in iMovie! Thank you for this video. Love the tips.
What is your lense recommendation for the sony zv10?
You have definitely gotten your mojo back, Virginia and I am here for it!!
Aww thank you! Appreciate you saying that!
Aw, THANK YOOOOOU for mentioning "don't talk to yourself in the screen" - that one drives me NUTS.

Awww thank you!!! Means so much!❤️
Great tutorial as always 😎
This was so helpful! Thank you! I’d love more videos on these types of topics.
You got it! Glad you found it helpful!
I love my Amazon Basics tripod!
Hey, Virginia, thanks for this content, loved it. Could you eventually make one about how you organise your files, like categories and what not?

Sure can! Thank you for the suggestion!
This was super helpful! And I use most of the things you listed out to use.
Oh that’s good to hear!
I love your videos & your style. You are so knowledgeable & willing to share! Thank you! This was so informative!
Thank you! Glad it was helpful to you ❤️
I really got some good value from the video. 😊
I unexpectedly started a channel for my biz last week and I’m SO HAPPY I RE-FOUND you on YT 🎉 (I came from Insta) ❤
Thank you very much, Virginia! Very helpful content.
Great info all in one place, Virginia. I have the ZV -1 and added a wide lens on top of the regular lens and it stopped that cropping enough to work well with it.
Hey! I almost got one but read it doesn’t stay on well. Have you had problems with it coming off?
This was perfect. Thank you!

What is the best mid range gimble?
The last tip!!! 😮😮😮 I can’t wait to try it
It makes such a difference when your text moves 😂

I get it! If it's complicated I'm less likely to use it. Which is why I have yet to learn Final Cut :)

You're awesome and I'm "project" challenged too LOL. Peace!
AND I need BEAUTY mode ; )
I’m about to start and this is EXACTLY what I needed today. Thank you! ❤

Yes I recently went rogue and tried to set everything myself. Looked ok until I went outside 🤣 so I’m back to auto
@@ThisIsVirginiaKerr hahaha!
0:10 did you answer the filters question? That’s what I was interested in.
Yea the beauty mode in the camera 😊
