Hello Danny! I'm just reviewing for third time this video....without knowing A. Cover I was very shocked with his illustrations when appeared in a Print issue - take in care that I was reading it from South America at that time - his line....his loose effect really are great. Now, rewatching the video with your explanations I turn to admire deeply...thanks for your work...we are anxiously expecting more artists' comments like this.

Another amazing Sketchbook club video Danny! I love how you share your knowledge of these wonderful artists and make links between other similar artists. Not many people talk about Ben Shahn anymore. He has to be up there in my list of favourites! Perhaps soon you will do an interview/ showcase with Molly Crabapple. She is young artist and journalist who is doing some great work that is very relevant for our times. And thank you also for making those of us who are " sloppy and undisciplined" feel good about ourselves and our art. 🙏🏾

Mind blown. The narratives he wrote added so much to his expressive drawings. Thanks for the introduction. I appreciate your channel. Rachelle, Australia x

Took a class called “Reportage” in college and we’d venture out into the city and draw from life: the bus terminal, the zoo, lobbies of office buildings, etc. We used pen and ink (no erasing). My favorite class. We learned about Alan Cober, also Jack Unruh, they illustrated a lot for National Geographic Magazine, I believe.

This is really an amazing video series you are doing! Started with the James Jean video and have ended up going through about five of these. You are also an interesting person to listen to!

Thanks for another great video, Danny. I just ordered Forgotten Society via Book Depository as I love the raw quality behind the sketches. Definitely one for the collection. :)

I haven’t been polished about my creative things either. I may say”that’s good enough” . But still many times I know that’s not really true. I play the harp and have great trouble polishing pieces. I also have performance anxiety. I think it may be a type of ADD, or just the creative mind. I am just learning to draw and watercolor and want to just enjoy the process and not think about the end piece, mostly because I am way too critical. Love your presentations . Thank you!

Amazing sketches thanks for showing them.
I'm amazed that that is a dip pen. Means that he had to carry a bottle of ink with him and set it down in order to draw those on the spot places and scenes. How did he wrangle that? Amazing.
The rest home pictures were heart wrenching.
In the jail and prision drawings some of the windows were pitch black, not hatched but painted I think. do you think it was ink? or paint?
