Kong could legit never be king of the monsters due to the titans have bad relationships with the great apes all of them would literally jump him before they even think about serving him. Especially the destroyer titans. And since kong doesn't even know what being king demands he would have no clue what to do he would most likely just continue with normal life. Most if not all of humanity would get wiped out since kong has no way of getting around the world and have no clue of whats happening around the world either. Kong might actually dodge mg's attack and even annoy him, which leads mg to use his proton beam against kong. Which leads kong to block the proton with his axe. Therefore MG gets the same treatment in the movie.
