- The Kia Seltos has received more than just a nip and tuck. While the styling has obviously been revised, there's a new 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine, updated interiors, new infotainement, level 2 ADAS, bigger 18-inch wheels, and more. And with that, the Kia Seltos is now priced from ₹10.89 lakh to ₹19.99 lakh (ex-showroom). Our Ed Sirish Chandran finds out how the updates have impacted the new Kia Seltos. He rates it 4/5 stars. 3.5.. the reason ppl chose the creta over seltos is the pan sunroof and the ride Quality. Now we have the panroof, but the ride is still concerning.. also the safety could have been improved

I am still surprised why so many people are still whining about the safety when many of them would never even bother wearing a seat belt in rear or maintain speed limits on an open highway. Kia seltos has a lot of secret admirers. It gets openly criticised but many of them still go and buy it coz it makes total sense when it comes to value.
Cause the value proposition is too good to ignore
@@Vicky-ne9mt If Kia sold the same Seltos that is sold in the US and Australian market, you would have to shell out atleast another 10 lakhs with lot less feel good features making it as expensive as a Tucson or upcoming Sportage which would make no sense for car buyers in this price segment to upgrade to hence wont be a profitable venture for Hyundai group. I am happy lot of folks like urself have started to think about safety after seeing some safety marketing stunts by some local manufacturers but unfortunately manufacturers are not building cars for charity they are here to sustain based on popular demand. My biggest question is after all this bashing and criticism why are lot of folks still buying Kia and Hyundai. Their sales numbers are record high

Considering to get a 2024 Seltos GTX DCT. Currently own a Taigun GT. Do you think the transition would be good? Will I miss the excellent driving dynamics of the Taigun GT?. Or is Seltos a good handler too?
Seltos is an okayish handler, no way near VW levels. What you get better than Taigun would be space, better interiors fit & finish, hassle free ownership. If safety and driving dynamics are your top priority then Seltos will disappoint you.

Regarding the Safety, do you think the ADAS helps in better Safety ratings? Also, in the KIA presentation, they have categorically mentioned that there have been changes and bolstering made to strengthen structure at key points which weren't there earlier. Can you shed some light on that?
until you get a G-NCAP or later Bharat-NCAP crash safety rating there's no way of commenting on safety.
I think it will get 1 star because on older norms, ignis scored 3 star and seltos was marginally 3 star or some people say it is 2 star. So you can imagine the rating on new norms

No doubt it’s loaded with all tech and Adas and having great silent engines
But the basic negatives of previous Seltos have not been taken care off …

Your absolutely spot on...reducing air pressure a bit on my 7DCT has made a lot of difference to the horrible harsh ride of earlier...and nitrogen helps a gee bit too...but, still needs to be worked upon by KIA.
I was amazed really at what a difference dropping pressures made!
What PSI do you keep it at now?
@@sirishch it doesn't make much difference reducing 2 or 3 PSI. Higher profile tires make difference.

Please let me know one thing - if in GT line Diesel engine variant, instead of 18 inch wheels, we replace it with 17 inch wheels, will the ride quality improve? Can it be customised if we ask the company to do?

Hi, i am confused in Gtx+ and Xline variant i want to know about xline color since it is a dark grey matt color looks great and premium but i am worried about maintaince of matt color. Is it good to buy matt color how it will work in long terms usuage and how to maintain it like washing or precautions required for it.
Or should i opt for gtx+ variants which has glossy finish.

As someone wgo has and loves his seltos (Pre FL with 17' tyres). PLEASE take an extended test drive over bad toads with someone at the back to see the ride comfort. Im glad its been pointed out so many times in the video, but it's REALLY stiff for back passengers. Another issue is that the AC at the back is inadequate while that on the front is a chiller.
Other than that, it's fantastic.
Can we change gt line 18 inches to 17? Will that improve ride quality?

But really in terms of Seltos and Creta the structural rigidity has always been a question with often cases of their cars breaking into two halves during an impact!!! 🙃
Hope they fixed it or fix it and dont take Indian customers lightly compared to their export spec...

I think it high time car manufacturers start offering ADAS as an optional saftey pack for all variants rather than just making it available only on top trim variant.
If someone wants active safety features on base spec why not sell it to them.
I think sunroof should also be an option no matter the the variant. I would not opt for sunroof or glass roof even on the top model or have it deleted from factory even if price remains same as with sunroof model. Those who wish to have the useless feature, let them have it on any variant.
Same thing with premium audio, offer it as an option on all variants it is not available. People spend tons of money on audio in karol bagh like places but I think if there was an option for factory premium audio a lot of people would spec it.
Them there should be only a standard variant with minimum features and customers should be able to opt for combinations which they need
So... ADAS does come in handy on our new roads and expressways, in the city it's best kept switched off. Sunroof... most people spending top-variant money want the sunroof and a manufacturer will offer what customers want. Premium audio I love

@@SaurabhNJR10 I'm seeing more (new) VW/Skoda cars on the roads then ever. Their Sales charts are also ringing. Unless they walk the talk of 2.0 and localise that 1.5 TSI and 2.0 TSI engines, the Japs and Koreans will wallop them again. 🙂
They should have worked on the body structure and the dynamics of the car . This engine should come with a torque converter. So should the 1.5 of the VW . Atleast they are reliable and can be launched hard .

I am a owner of Kia Seltos. It's light are not up to the mark for night driving. It gives a mileage of 8-9 km/l.
yes, have heard a lot of complaints about the LED lights
In this video the reviewer mentions CVT gear box which is wrong....Seltos has IVT gear box which does not have a rubber band effect....one of my relatives has purchased the facelift....
IVT is also a CVT. It does have a rubber band effect when you try to accelerate hard. Although both Honda and KIA have reduced the effect on their latest generation cars.
Can't believe these 18 lakh rupee cars can't beat 0-100 of a 8 year old Punto Abarth still..

Again nice review. Seeing it I can say that waiting for new gen creta would be better. Creta generally has a softer suspension. And these cars are comfort oriented. So people will again I think will go for creta.

Thanks for the honest review particularly on the ride and handling, a critical aspect for me. My other critical aspect is the safety that is also a suspect. It has ticked all other boxes including the performance, interiors and NVH and super feature rich. But I will again stay away from the car based on the primary expectation.
I will now wait for the facelift of Taigun.

I'm not an "influencer", I'm a journalist. and unless we get torsional rigidity figures we cannot talk about it, it's not like there's a Swiss-knife-sized tool we can carry around to measure body stiffness. That said I have talked about rigidity and safety, please watch the video again

The reason the ride is stiff because the structure of the car is extremely weak. They have to stiffen the springs to compensate for it. If they don't stiffen it, the car will handle like a refrigerator and even roll over. That's also the reason it will score not more than 3 stars on GNCAP.

This car scored 3 stars on margin. 8.03 out of a maximum of 17.00 for adult protection and 15.00 out of 49.00 for child protection.
Better options under 20 Lack :
1) Harrier
2) Scorpio N
3) Scorpio Classic (If you are real badass)
4) XUV 700
5) Safari Lower Variants.
And the best thing all of above 5 Cars are Indian companies ❤❤❤

Sad part about this comment is ! I own a seltos and I’m scared of it everyday! I was in a Škoda Octavia 1.4ltr 2017 manual and it was doing 200km/hr like a breeze and seltos at 160 feels like a flying coffin

These 4 stars are more like 3.5stars. They are just touching 4star just coz of airbags . Otherwise chassis of creta n seltos is 3 stars.
That was an overall rating for the car, not it's safety ratings. We hope Kia sends it for testing soon.
Ride quality, comfort and handling are not Hyundai/Kias priority, especially ride and comfort.
Features, quality interiors are the main priority.

wireless android auto is available in my 2020 Kia Sonet HTX
In higer variants it's not available. I drive HTX+ Seltos and there is no wireless Android auto
For safety and practicality, i will choose Honda Elevate over Kia Seltos

What makes honda more "practical" in thr market than a kia or the Cretan or vitara....it's a matter or choice, they're all very similar in the price range.

There is no revive and recall option when the Kia Seltos splits into 2 pieces and also their passengers.
If u overspeed on a narrow highway and split into two its ur motor vehicle and health insurance company's responsibility to take care of u and not the manufacturer's. I think u would be better of riding on a horse or a camel if u r after that assurance of not splitting into 2 😂

Everything has a breaking point, and nothing is beyond rules of physics. Not even the safest car can provide a guarantee.

Both are good cars. We'd recommend you test drive them both to see which one you like better.
Any iphone 13 pro or 14 pro is not charging with their wireless charger properly with the facelifted seltos gtx plus version. No reviewer mentioned this.

The car's still a tin can. Indian Kia Seltos is still built on SP2i platform and not SP2 platform which is meant for South Korea, US and other developed markets. Ill never buy a car that compromises with our safety for even 24 lakhs. A big NO to Kia tin cans.

Why do you hesitate saying it explicitly that safety is pathetic or poor structurally? You just say it's the same. When you can rave and keep going on and on about gimmicky features why does the lack of structural safety is not clearly highlighted? Instead it is hidden behind the phrase it's the same as before. Good journalism is when you call spade a spade.
There is no crash test safety yet so there no point of bashing and trolling a newly launched car jus coz in the past some douche happened to race his seltos on a narrow two lane highway and split in to two. You seem to be too much carried away from that incident in 2021 lol
Because we do not have any NCAP safety figure to go by to form a verdict there. Kia says they have done some work on the body structure but what has been done and how that impacts safety is purely guess work so we just report on the facts and wait for the NCAP figure to (eventually) arrive and then talk about it
This is not worth buying we need safety first

GTX+ is very-very overpriced and there is no other gearbox apart from DCT.
