    This is amazing. Even though they're not in road cars right now, Wankel rotaries are still alive and kicking and I love that they are still in use in different applications to this day. I can't wait till they're back on the road again too

      The one eyed one horn flying purple people eater designed and machined a 660 cubic inch pressurized air charge cooled roller bearing 6 rotor engine running on zirconia/yttria ceramic roller bearings, a M50Nil tool steel (carbonized/nitrided plasma) e-shaft and plasma sprayed ceramic billet aluminum (7068 alloy) housings with ceramic apex seals to power his flying machine. It makes about 3200 HP from the aether/ZPE and warps space time as he peeps out his peephole while spying on us and he has a 5 axis CNC mind over matter machine tool that can materialize more of these giant charge cooled Rotron roller bearing engines out of spacetime with thought!

Mazda is working now on the 16X Rotary in order to improve the torque, reduce the fuel consumption and to make the engine more reliable. That new engine should equip the sports car RX VISION. Wankel engines have always had great power to weight ratios and have been a marvel of simplicity. The problem has always been the fuel burn, which it didn’t seem like they talked about

    • @davidka63
      @davidka63 4 года назад

      True for road car use, where engines normally operate at a fraction of optimal output & efficiency. At higher power settings efficiency is quite favorable with a rotary. A small engine like this would be really interesting in a hybrid vehicle, where it’s primary purpose would be to drive a generator, secondary to the drivetrain, like Honda’s setup.

    • @xpeterson
      @xpeterson 4 года назад +2

      David Studner from what I understood, wankle motors suffer even at high rpms due to the inherent flaws of the apex seal and the fact that the “combustion chamber” is moving, causing the burn to be uneven across the chamber.

    • @davidka63
      @davidka63 4 года назад

      @@xpeterson A piston engine's combustion chamber moves, too, up & down as well as the air/fuel mix passing valves & swirling around in there. The apex seal issue was solved long ago. I think they're bad rap has held on since the early days. Think about the challenges piston rings endure - round walls, lateral piston loads. An apex seal's job is more straightforward, if you think about it.

    • @xpeterson
      @xpeterson 4 года назад +1

      David Studner when people talk about a “moving combustion chamber” when referring to wangle engines, I feel like it’s pretty apparent that they don’t mean that traditional cylinder engines have no moving parts at all. I don’t see how that could be misinterpreted to be honest, in a traditional engine the cylinder is relatively stationary while the piston moves up and down, meanwhile in a wankle the entire “cylinder” is in rotational motion. Who would imply that a traditional engine doesn’t have moving parts?
      Apologies for mentioning specifically the apex seals, what I meant was sealing issues as a whole, which are harder to visualize when looking at the wankle from a 2D perspective but become apparent when you bring the diagram to 3D.
