BTW I prefer holding down the fan on the table and pulling the core for greater stability in the process of popping the core out.

    Unfortunately, this didn't work for my EVGA GeForce 560TI fans. Separating the fan from the base isn't possible without breaking the plastic axle that holds the magnets in place. So on those, the only option is to buy replacement fans. Which take, very horribly, about a month to arrive. Hooray.

  • @gamerguy425
    @gamerguy425 Год назад +1

    if your fan is really small/cheap like mine is (under $24) I'd just say go ahead and buy a replacement. It seems like mine either has a dead motor or whatever keeps the blades in place is failing, I tried this and it did not fix it, and now the blade is even looser than it was, it may not have been designed to be taken apart. I already had the lube on hand for skateboards, but if I hadn't any other use for it it would have been a waste.

      Many have a gripping washer that may be carefully bent out to help separate the motor from the axle. Other videos show removing the back sticker to access this.
      Also, WD40 may dissolve some plastics. Use rubbing alcohol to safely clean most computer parts. Avoid any paint, adhesive or print you want to keep no matter what solvent you choose.

  • @user-baraba
    @user-baraba Год назад +1

    Much safer way of going about doing this might be making a small hole in the center at the backplate of the cooler than use syringe to apply oil inside .I do this with soldering tool or just heated needle you can even just drill it out with a drill just with drill you need to know when to stop so drills are risky.

    I also tried, and broke my fan. It was too hard to pull, so I tried using a screw driver to help. Then it came only the plastic back. So I tried pulling the green circuit board the same way, but then it begun to separate the board from the coils. It does not work anymore. Now I need a replacement. I don't think the MSI Radeon R9 380 fans are meant to be opened this way.

Is there any chance to repair it or I need to find another fan? If I need to replace it how can I be sure that the new one is correct (e.g. do they have the same 12V power need or not?)
