Day 417 of asking James to do an Up to Speed on his Dad
Agree
It might be a sad story
Donut inspires me.. My parents said if i get 70K followers They'd buy me a professional camera for recording..begging u guys , literally
Begging...
Maybe he don't want to do it for his own reasons and your just being annoying constantly asking
You're the worst person I don't know
Props to the grocery hook guy for taking the initiative on solving a simple problem and making a business off it
i actually want a grocery hook
My Subaru Legacy comes with a grocery hook. Standard. No big deal.
For my model 3, the second accessory I got after the rubber mats was the grocery hook, and I swear by it. Great to put groceries that you don't want to shake up or are kind of delicate like fruits and veggies
@@NW-vz9nu Indeed. I'm pretty sure it's very standard on most new Japanese and European cars, since at least a couple years, maybe more.
@@NW-vz9nu My Highlander has two hooks, I could see adding more
the heads up display is honestly incredible for 200 bucks. they are using all the data that’s already there, and teslas have a lot, so it’s got a ton of features. but to also be touchscreen, plug and play, it has wireless car play, and the aftermarket wheel works with it too?? makes me want to buy a tesla
They're good cars. Won't regret it.
@@daniyilsemi2941 BS. As parts & service is part of owning any car.
Since Tesla charges Ferrari like costs for both, has major delays and tries to prevent third party garages & body shops, they suck regardless of the quality of the car itself...
@@davidhollenshead4892 Tesla is more expensive the mainstream brands, but they don't anywhere near close to the likes of Ferrari or McClaren. Probably not even as much as BMW.
@@davidhollenshead4892 the model 3 and y are in the 40k range the s , x and cybertruck are around 90k. people think teslas are more expensive but the 3 and y are below average selleing price in america.
But the real question is, do you have to have a Tesla to use it, why not put in some old car with an obd2 port, and pretend like you’re cool. Asking for a friend….
You couldn't pay me intentionally swap a steering wheel for a yoke. Besides that, those are some great aftermarket items. They 100% address real shortcomings of many factory Teslas.
I’m not gonna like I think it looks cool. Like driving the Batmobile or something. But I can definitely see the cons behind it lol.
@damaged_ambitions9906 that's not cool💀
As someone who owns a Tesla, and 3 non Teslas…nothing they showed is a short coming. It’s just hard for “car guys” to admit it. Teslas has a basically non functional cruise control (thanks cameras) and auto wipers that are worse than sticking a squeegee out the window. Paint that’s thinner than a matchbox car and a front trunk cover so thin a baby could dent it. It’s not perfect, but it’s a hell of a drivers car if people could check their ego and bias.
hahha i feel the same way about mine man but fuck me some of the tesla fans just dickride elon all day it puts out a bad image probably makes people hate us more@@GeorgeOrwell-tp8dw
@@GeorgeOrwell-tp8dw"ego and bias" are 2 words that apply rather well to tesla owners.
It's wild to me that Elon would offer a yoke steering wheel as an option for cars that have a normal wheel, but not let yoke cars get a normal wheel
You can get a round steering wheel on the new Model S and X in Europe.
The yoke only became an option after they started offering a normal wheel as standard.
they offer the wheel as standard now im pretty sure (not sure why they never did in the first place)
@@josephius Honestly the yoke itself was never a problem. The stalks are. Also, the placement of the horn. If they would have just put in a fancier Model Y Steering Wheel in the Model S they would have made the car so much better.
@@FrygiskIn the US, now the default for both Model X and S is round. The Yoke is now a $1000 option.
I expected all the stuff to be closer to Wish app level quality. Good segment!
Me too, I was surprised that they're actually good quality-wise.
To be fair, they paid hundreds of dollars for each of these accessories and not tens of dollars. A 600 dollar steering wheel should be good
It is, Amazon is basically direct to market to China, and they are often copycat products of American brands. Except most Americans don't care, as long as they save money.
I am sure that China is already making cheap copies.
@@MrMuffinman521 same thought. As they said, it's on brand for most wheels, so I'm also not going to be surprised if it turns out that company also makes yoke wheels for other cars.
A lot of Tesla owners I know are engineers and IT guys, so they're always designing and 3d printing some stuff for their tesla, so I believe there's quite the DIY support :D
A lot of Tesla Owners are Total Dbags like my neighbor who parked his Tesla next to my house and kept setting off the deafening alarm with his remote while I shoved the walk and then accused me of damaging his shitty White Nationalist EV. This was choice since I previously had the eight ply tires slashed on my cargo van, apparently by said neighbor because I was "killing the environment" by owning a cargo van that I only use as a power tool when working on the house. Many Tesla Owners, like Many Prius Owners are Total F-ing Dbags...
If I was able to install one, i'd totally use that trunk grocery hook thing in my impreza. I hate when I take a turn too quick and I hear the crashing in the back
It's not the best solution, but I have a WRX and I put a short, wide laundry basket with towels in it in my trunk for groceries. Works really well and I get comments in the parking lot every once in a while.
The sub trunk area in the Model Y is great for this reason
8:20 "Is that a round steering wheel? Dork."

Austin had this sorted with the Allegro. Feel free to Google its steering wheel.

@@cockatoo010 I mean yeah, the dashboard screen totally should've just come with it. But it also seems incredibly well done and still cheap for an aftermarket solution like that. I think I'm more impressed it isn't a 2 or 3 grand option straight from Tesla, same for a yoke wheel tbh.
It's normal, Tesla Owners have a lot of cash to trow at gadget for their toy, their is a market for good quality add on.
More proof that Tesla is the Apple of the car industry.

I can’t deny some of the mods are really worth it. I wanted to swap the rear usb a ports out on the fan vent but found out I could get a whole rear screen with climate control and usb c for like $200 lol. Also idk why but the rims on our 3 stick out beyond the tire so rim rash isn’t a problem on any other of our cars.
Car enthusiast my whole life, professional driver for 20+ yrs and own a model 3 performance.
I respect all kinds of vehicles for all kinds of reasons. These things deserve respect, they're in a different category though.
I'm a gas head, and will probably drive ICE vehicles as long as I can, but Teslas are great cars and the hate they get is laughable. It's so funny because the very people who cheered them on for a decade, are the ones who suddenly hate them because the CEO doesn't worship at their political alter. That's it. There's no objective measure that justifies how hard these people knock them. It's purely self-righteous narcissism, just like religious fundamentalists who won't buy Starbucks because the owners don't share the same views. We've become a culture of children.
@@NautilusGuitars Couldn't agree more! Like progression from the steam engine, it may take generations before we see a majority uptake of EV's because of people's mindsets. We will always be able to run ICE vehicles I think, it's just not going to be as economical or efficient (well, it's not already)...
We can still drive a steam engine if we want, I still think they're cool too 😉👍
Yep, raced sprints and short track in younger years; project cars entire life; buying a tesla model s plaid was the biggest mistake I’ve ever made for hobby. Now have a 9second 4 door car that I can bring to grocery store or bring kid to school. Has ruined the hobby for me.
@@NautilusGuitars Never worshipped Elon and I still think Tesla is trash because of all of the false promises they've made. Any honest company would call their "full self driving" cruise control+, because that is what it really is. Also Elon's obsession with "indestructible" cars is going to get people killed for sure.
Other companies have made significantly more advances in the EV field, are further ahead with self-driving software and don't constantly lie to their customers and investors.
Would love to get an EV, but it wouldn't be a tesla and with my job, it isn't feasible because I have to drive long distances to places with bad infrastructure where I wouldn't be able to charge my EV for the drive home.

Kinda wild that, for a brand that's rather famous for crappo build quality (source: consumer reports, popular mechanics 😂), a lot of these accessories are really well made.
It's improved. Source: me who used to laugh at Tesla quality in the parking lot who bought a Tesla. 😅
You nowadays have a normal (roundish) steering wheel in Europe on the plaid cars. The yoke is an additional 1000 euro upgrade.
must be so nice
Idk why anyone would pay $1000 for that gimmicky yolk
That's cause the governments over there are ok with telling these big companies to stop doing dumb stuff. It's similar to the iphone's usbc thing.
Same here in the US. My Model Y Performance was in the shop and the loaner was a standard Model S, but it had the yoke... it was terrible. Worst part is they got rid of the blinker stalk and moved the switch to the wheel. So bad.
People laughed in the 70s at Austin for doing this on its Allegro model.

As someone who races cars occasionally, the topless steering wheel is fine as long as the steering is fast enough lock-to-lock.
If it's normally geared steering then a round wheel would be much preferred.
More car products DEFINITELY need to come with the required tools
I thought this was gonna be an episode poking fun at these things but man I was actually very impressed! These products are pretty awesome. The HUD is super super clean. Good job Tesla aftermarket people!
The aftermarket, relatively plug and play mods for these things is huge... and most are surprisingly affordable.
I have never appreciated the aftermarket of tesla before. I dig it.
Being able to find your merch on bluetomato stores warms my Heart❤️
Glad to see Jeremiah can still do mechanic yoga! 😂
The wheel protectors I'd wonder how long they are going to hold up with freeway driving, bumpy roads and so on. The bag hook, while a nice gadget, just has me thinking - why are there exposed bolts like that in a supposedly premium car?
Because the build quality is like a $20k car. I've seen $30k Subaru's better built than Teslas plastics that move under your hand pressure.
Tesla Model 3 isn't premium. It's pretty close to as bare bones as you can get in an electric car for the price.
@@bvoyelr Exactly, The 3 was always "How cheap can we make an actually useful EV"
Tesla doesn't have economy of scale, so that is passed onto the buyer. Meaning Teslas have less bang for the buck.
I bet the Taurus mach-E has better build and drive quality than the model Y
My Mazda3 has better build quality. Body lines are perfect, body lines on my dad’s Model S aren’t great, my mom’s Model X… it’s painful. My car when new sold for like $21k. The Model S was $83k, the X was $101k. Great cars but very poorly built. On a different note, I wondered the same on the wheel protectors
Funny how my parents just got their Tesla and I put on the HUD and grocery hook for them not long ago, then this vid is out. For the price tag, quality and purposes on those mods, they really rule!
Someone should just sell that Dash display right at the tesla store parking lot exit. Every Tesla needs one.
If you have like a remote detect thing or like a car camera, that shelf can come in handy.
Prefer screws over magnets for more permanent installation, but I think the shelf is pretty ok.
It holds a Glock.
The behind tray screen is actually useful to prevent stuff back there from rolling around as ive experienced. So its a great product.
I agree, it could be pretty useful. Especially as a place for your dashcam.
The reason a lot of the Tesla/EV stuff works is:
A) you spent a reasonable amount of money on each item for quality products
and
B) there are less things available aftermarket for EVs that actually work since it is still a fairly young part of the car market, so the things sold have to actually work and can't just say they do
lmao the fit&finish failure of a large exposed bolt is now used as a handy feature, I love it
I don't think that would be very comfortable for my passengers who ride in the trunk.
Just got a model y and the aftermarket accessories are pretty impressive. Having 2 interiors for as many cars that they sell makes it worth the RND.
Reviews of good products are actually pretty cool, well done
"But can we have-"
*No.* Elon musk
Mr. Elon Musk the Blatant White Nationalist....
I don’t know, the fact a lot of those aftermarket parts are so good, kinda makes me feel like Tesla should have just done those to start.
That dash display would _not_ be a mere $200 markup if Tesla optioned it in...
Some of these accessories look better made than the car itself lmao
aka look better than your mom XD
The Tissue box that came with the shelf thing was built better than most Telsas.
I don't think we give Jimmy enough credit for the shenanigans he gets signed up for. Mad respect for him!
Imagine rolling down the highway minding your business then you take a chunk of the Tesla's "wheel case" in your windshield after it falls off and goes flinging backwards
The problem with the display (I have one in my Model Y) is that it blocks a crap load of your air flow from the stupid tesla vents. I need to find someone who can 3D print some air guides to fix this. Also, since the display is a touch screen I went ahead and got a yoke style wheel so you don't have to reach through the opening in the round wheel to touch the touch screen. Also, alway have been a car guy, you should see the screaming on Tesla forums saying "that will void your warranty!!!!!" every time you mention doing ANYTHING to your Tesla.
I feel like a van video would be dope from you guys, buying an old cargo or sprinter van, making it an off-roading/ camping vehicle that you could daily drive but also hit the trails in and camp in/ make a campsite out of in the weekend

Just wanna drop this here, before my first Tesla I had 10+ German cars build and tuned with my own hands. The VW TDI lie just ended it for me, so I got a performance model 3 and modded the suspension, it was a beast, and silent, no fire, no pops, no turbo lag, No oil changes or BOV leaks! Now I daily drive a Model S Plaid w/ Carbon ceramics for the 320kmh+ (200mph) on the autobahn and nothing else is close. You can’t get a faster car for the money with a Tesla vs ICE. Even perf modding you would spend $10k more for 30+ psi in a gutted K20 shit hatch, than a performance model 3 and still get gapped in the 1/4 mile. One has two trunks and four seats plus airbags and the other is track only fire suit disaster.
Many Tesla owners are former motor heads, but in the end speed and reliability is king.

The shelf thingy / tissue box holder - was there an extra loose magnet in the box? As many of these Model 3/Y are driven by soccer moms, having a place to put a full sized tissue box would be very helpful to many.
