I don't care what anyone says, I loved the DIC dub. It brings back so many memories, I can picture in my mind what bgm goes with what scene. Love the music ♡
Glad that someone is working to preserve the dic dub, it's a huge part of anime history for English speakers. Also I actually think that, while dic's dub was far from perfect, they really nailed it with the music.
@@crimsonenchantress Same here...Though the Japanese themes for Rini and Pegasus did fit a little...personally. I miss how DiC had it...still breaks my heart knowing that they're not here anymore...Their Sailor Moon had the magic Naoko was tryin to give.

Can everyone stop BASHING the DIC dub and just enjoy this music vid!? Jeez! If it weren’t for DIC some of us would never have been introduced to Sailor Moon or Anime in general in North America. And I’m thankful and still think DIC kicked ass, more than Cloverway and way more than Viz! The voice acting of the main cast was superb. And yea, I’ve read the Manga and watched the original in Japanese subbed. In terms of dubs? I still like the voice acting from DIC. Thanks IamLeon94. This is fantastic!
I also find nothing wrong with the DIC Dub and prefer it to the latest English dub. I also like the original Japanese. Cloverway was alright but it took me a while to get used to Usagi's new voice, I didn't like it at first.
Have to agree with the OP! I'm kind of sick of the bitching from people who WEREN'T even THERE 20 years ago! I'm positive there are many people online commenting who NEVER watched the DiC Sailor Moon and aren't aware of the realities of broadcasting in syndication prior to the last 5 years. These same people don't understand a lick of Japanese and always presume the Japanese actors are automatically better or that subs are always accurate!!! Well, I've got news for them -- there are many Japanese who acknowledge there are HORRIBLE voice actors in their domestic industry (the actresses for the original Dirty Pair were not so great according to sources in the know) and subtitles to this day are still often transcribed from dub scripts strictly for Closed Caption/hard of hearing! That's an issue that occurred with the last round of Studio Ghibli feature film releases in North America despite the fact that a major corporation (House of Mouse) had licensed those films and could have EASILY afforded to release the films with more accurate subtitles for the Japanese audio! [The issue with the subs on the Ghibli films is the reason to buy the newer GKids releases. Sure, they have the SAME dubs the Disney releases of those films had BUT the subtitles were reworked to more accurately reflect the Japanese vocal tracks. Unfortunately, I don't see the GKids Ghibli releases doing as well as the previous Disney discs because A) most people already HAVE the Disney discs and will likely not bother with a newer edition; B) the video quality is the same, same remastered hi-def transfers; C) unless you're really that much of a purist -- and most anime fans in the West aren't -- people aren't THAT bothered by the subtitle translation issue...] They have no clue how the anime industry developed in North America, the history of dubs and edits that occurred for broadcast! The fact is that the audiences for anime were HIGHER on local TV and national syndication back then (mid-1990s and earlier) than they are today for any of the cable networks of today (including Cartoon Network which would have MUCH better ratings for the anime it licenses if their scheduling was more sensible and they hadn't alienated so many people with their constant programming/theme turnovers outside of anime and really, REALLY stupid programming moves that make SyFy look like a well-run network!), Netflix, or any other streaming services. It's not that the edits made the shows better BUT there was more of a chance for people to actually see shows that were broadcast between 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM as opposed to past midnight on the weekends!!!! The choices today are so split (150million shows you can watch as opposed to MAYBE a dozen in a good year back then!) that none of the series series today builds up much of an audience or gets the devoted fan following older series did and still maintain to large degrees decades later. As far as the actual DiC dub goes, it's about middle quality... I've heard a LOT worse in my time. They still make execrable dubs even today but the original DiC dub cast (I'm talking the classic 65-83, 85 episodes they dubbed) was better than the second Clover cast even with the turnovers in the DiC cast. I definitely preferred Terri Hawkes (sp?) over the other actresses as Sailor Moon. Heck, she's who I hear ALL the time when I play my version of Sailor Moon Doom (yes, THAT game)!!! Voice acting is always debated among fans and we all have our opinions. My problem isn't so much the casting (although I agree that the voice of Luna in the DiC dub was far too old and didn't suit the character) but script-editing choices... It's the same issue I have with Battle of the Planets when I try to watch it now. The problem almost never exists with the main voice casts' performances but dialogue choices of the voice directors and script re(writers). The original DiC dub, IMHO, should have been re-released these past two years. There are still enough fans of that version of the series to sell a limited edition release but it wasn't allowed or they (the series owners) didn't think it would sell. Ironically, the video quality on the DVDs released of the DiC dub was better than contemporary releases of the series uncut on DVD in North America in the early 2000s. (At least that's what I saw on the torrent I had for ten seconds.) If the tapes of the DiC edit have been taken care of, I bet they'd STILL be better visual quality than what Viz has released these past two years. Frankly, the Japanese master tapes were never handled that well which is why Viz had the situation with screwed up Blu ray releases and even DVDs with inferior video quality to the last round of Japanese DVD releases of Sailor Moon.
Amen! I love the DiC dub of this anime. So much better than Viz’s. The story is there, the theme’s there. Sure DiC could have not cut the few things they found questionable for Americans in the early 90’s, but on the whole this is still one of the better English dubs of anime to this day. Everyone needs to understand that at the time of its release, anime was still in its infancy in North America. What was acceptable on American television was WAY more strict than what it is now.
Man hearing the Dic dub instantly takes me back to the past and makes my heart hurt with so much nostalgia wishing to go back to those times. I love the Dic dub and the 90s!
DiC's music was literally iconic. Legendary, even. This hits me hard. Thank you. People always jump to DiC's censorship as their main reasoning behind disliking it, but I think it's easy to overlook considering how great so many other aspects of it were. ♥DiC really captured the magic in this show. I'm forever grateful.
I looked for it for the past 23 years because it had left such an impact on me. At the time, it was the most beautiful and emotional song I'd ever heard.
People in this comment section are insane! The DiC dub was incredible! Yes they cut a lot out but that was because the show was marketed to young girls, ages 5 to 12. The music was fantastic, the voice acting was amazing, Terri Hawkes was incredible and brought so much passion and emotion to the role (I wished VIZ asked her to reprise the role for their dub). The original dub of S and SuperS in the early 2000's was awful! terrible writing, terrible translation, terrible voice acting. But that was Cloverway, not DiC. DiC did an truly impeccable job; plus it's all too nostalgic for me to even attempt to like the VIZ dub.
Cloverway did messed up season 3 and 4, i'm glad they did not do season 5. I still love the dic version but i also love the viz media as well. I watch season 3 in sub online, the dic and viz dubbing pretty good have it's pros and cons.

As a fan of the Japanese ver, I cannot deny a few of the DIC songs are superior. For instance, her season 1 transformation theme and the Negaverse theme.
I remember searching high and low as a kid trying to find clean rips of "Sadness V2" and "Silver Millennium". It's been well over a decade later and they're still not around. Ugh. I wish DiC would just release all the dub music online. That's what 4Kids did with Yugioh.
Thank you so much! As a 90's kid who grew up with this, I have to say lots of DIC's music clapped, even if the actual dub didn't. NOSTALGIA BABY!!!!!!!!!
to me its almost DISTURBING how different this is from the original, coming from someone who grew up with a dub that didnt do such drastic changes and kept the original ost lmao, it was so wierd when i found out abt the american dub, plus the wierd edits, i guess its different then depending if u grew up with it or not but i was wierded out
The DiC music ALWAYS fit better than the Japanese soundtrack could ever hope to. DiC dub is the best there is, the best there was and the best there ever will be.

I give dic credit for the music it fits this show very well, I like either version of sailor moon there pros and cons for each versions. This is my first anime series since i was 9 years old. Thank you for the dic music i miss this myself.
Dude, THANK YOU for doing what I assume was a lot of hard work to get these sounding as clean as they do! I too was very into this old DiC dub music, and the constant crackling in the sailormusic.net rips bothered me to no end. I did my best to tackle this very project once but I am not THAT skilled of an audio engineer, so thank you again, this is awesome.
My brother TylerDanielz actually put these together, we used them in our ep 1 of stars dub. He took piece of parts from episodes that had no speaking and put them all together. Lot of work went to them
I really appreciate this. I still think VIZ did an amazing job with their dub, but this music really set the mood for a modernized version of this 90's classic!
Bless you and the hard work you went through to make this. I wouldn't be who I am today if not for this show. This OST is actually much better than I remember, honestly. I'm surprised how good it is. It captures the essence of the mid 90s really well and reminds me of video game music.
2:55 i grew up with this and haven’t heard it in forever and it triggered me to cry that is how powerful the dic music is. they really should’ve brought back the og cast just uncensored it.
Damn, I remember working on some of these rips. Idk if you were part of the community with us back in the day, PrincessKagayaki/CrescentMoonz/TylerDanielz/SMSFandubs/etc but this is a wave of nostalgia and a relief that someone saved these since my external got fried years and years ago
@ 2:55 when Serena is fallen in eternal sleep and she says, "Oh, Darien" and he thinks shes waken up but its just in his mind and he asks her to forgive him and kisses her. I always remember that part with this song💔
I've been searching for the BGM for Evil Tuxedo Mask from the episode: Bad Hair Day when he is in the salon chair, I liked the Spanish Guitar Melody from it.
The DiC dub could have been legendary if they didn't edit and change out so much. I really appreciate the effort and passion the voice actors put into their work. They gave each character their own personality that stuck with you. There's a lot of great music that they made too.
DiC's dialogue was pretty cringe worthy but the music they made for Sailor Moon was beautiful. Thanks for posting this! I still prefer the DiC Sailor Moon's transformation music to the original Japanese. It was SO wonderful to hear Sadness V2 again!
Most of us have a nostalgic bond with this version because it's how we (American audiences) were first introduced to Sailor Moon--and nostalgia can be a helluva drug! However, if we're being totally honest, this complete whitewashed, watering down of the soundtrack (though not one of the worst dubs out there) pales in comparison to Takanori Arisawa's original ost & does a disservice to all the hard work he put into it. I first saw Sailor Moon on WPIX in 1995, from there, USA Network picked it up around 1997, & a few years afterward, it began it's run on Toonami. All airings were the DIC version of course, but I say that to let folks know that I get it. Through memories & music, we forge strong emotional ties to things, but we can't dismiss Arisawa's score like it never existed--which is what DIC tried to do by senselessly re-scoring the series. I never even knew about the original ost until sometime around the Toonami run (my 3rd viewing of the series) & while online, I came across some RealPlayer files from the original Japanese broadcast. It was eye-opening; the complexities within that score. From the individual character themes, to small situational moments, to the climactic transformation sequences & battles...Arisawa's score was mature, bold, interesting, exciting, & FUN; as colorful & vibrant as the series' cast of characters. It blew my mind. I was like, "Wow! This is what I had been missing out on?!" I likened it to DIC's version being a Happy Meal & Arisawa's a Super-sized Big Mac combo. I'm not saying there isn't room to like both, but to me, there was a line crossed in repackaging the show for American audiences that bordered on disrespectful (not just with the sndtrk btw); by stripping away many of the cultural/artistic cues that made DIC want to bring it to American viewers in the first place. Simply put, we were cheated.
Always LOVE DiC Music for Sailor Moon! Every feels goes just perfect on happy, sad, or romance occasions. When I watched the other English Dubbing, it didn't have that magical touch, like its missing, no music nor feelings to it. DiC music makes me feel like a Moon Princess. Started watching the Viz version recently, thinking it was the Dic version (I did not know there was two dubs). Needless to say, I was a little confused until I did some googling. I was so disappointed in the music! Even though Dic isn’t the original, they did a much better job on the music! I want to hear it so bad when I watch it now!
This sounds a LOT like music made by Noriyuki Iwadare. Even the Inner Scout Theme sounds so much like one of his many battle music themes, especially from the Grandia series.
They should use the "sadness V1" music for being on hold during a call when you're trying to get connected to the doctor or whatever 😆. I remember recording on VHS tapes the episodes from Toonami as a teen 🤣
I love all the songs from that time my favorite one is sadness v1 it's more like the moon kingdom song and I really enjoy it think there could be a way I can get this song
ah now i knew why i could never really get into the VIZ anime even though the voice acting was good--it was the lack of this music the music from original really made the original shine since i am a big music person

Sadness v1 and v2, man. Phew. Those always feel deep!
Oh my goodness, this whole video was a trip down memory lane. Made me feel like a kid again. The best of times. Thank you.
As a fan of the Japanese ver, I cannot deny a few of the DIC songs are superior. For instance, her season 1 transformation theme and the Negaverse theme.
2:55--Sadness. Cosmetic Caper. Telephone Booth scene. Final scene. Thank you so much for sharing this. :D
I remember searching high and low as a kid trying to find clean rips of "Sadness V2" and "Silver Millennium". It's been well over a decade later and they're still not around. Ugh. I wish DiC would just release all the dub music online. That's what 4Kids did with Yugioh.
I found some on a website. I'll have to search for that on my pc later if you want
Thank you so much! As a 90's kid who grew up with this, I have to say lots of DIC's music clapped, even if the actual dub didn't. NOSTALGIA BABY!!!!!!!!!
The Dic dub honestly had the best music cues and OST! Sometimes the music cues fit better than the original Japanese OST.
to me its almost DISTURBING how different this is from the original, coming from someone who grew up with a dub that didnt do such drastic changes and kept the original ost lmao, it was so wierd when i found out abt the american dub, plus the wierd edits, i guess its different then depending if u grew up with it or not but i was wierded out
The DiC music ALWAYS fit better than the Japanese soundtrack could ever hope to. DiC dub is the best there is, the best there was and the best there ever will be.
DIC is the same company that gave us all three Sonic cartoons and all three Mario cartoons.
@@redmage8719 I doubt you have EVER watched any other dub if you think so😆
@@Splash232 I have watched both the DiC and ViZ dubs and I have been a Moonie for over 20 years so I know what I am talking about. You are free to have whatever taste in dubs you like.
Omgg you have Sadness 1 in this?! I thought it was under another name .. Ive been looking for that song off and on! I fuggin love it to death...so beautiful! Thank u for compiling this! Its a shame most of this music wasn't mastered to CDs and sold. This soundtrack is giving me those nostalgia feels like a mofo! Thank you kind person for uploading! ='D
Well, wasn't expecting to hop on the nostalgia train today. Tunes I haven't heard in 25 years just come rushing back after a few notes. I'm a 34yo dude who always enjoyed Sailor Moon more than Power Rangers. This video is making me feel ALL the feels omg. 10:07 THANK YOU now I know the name!
i love you so much for putting this together. you just restored all my childhood memories. I would constantly rewatch my vhs tape of sailor moon r the movie and i remembered it having different music and I absolutely loved it. thank you so much holy moly.
I give dic credit for the music it fits this show very well, I like either version of sailor moon there pros and cons for each versions. This is my first anime series since i was 9 years old. Thank you for the dic music i miss this myself.
11:20 - When I become an emotional mess
AAAAAAAAHHH....
I still have this episode on vhs...
finally! someone described how this song literally feels with accurate words.
thank you, human.
Sailor moons transformation theme is so good 😭 and 3:52 my heartttttt ❤️
Dic was the best it was most personal and unique than any other SM dub. It changed every thing
Best anime dub I ever grew up with
14:50 Shit was on! You knew when that hit things were about to get awesome!
This music will always mean so much to me.
Dude, THANK YOU for doing what I assume was a lot of hard work to get these sounding as clean as they do! I too was very into this old DiC dub music, and the constant crackling in the sailormusic.net rips bothered me to no end. I did my best to tackle this very project once but I am not THAT skilled of an audio engineer, so thank you again, this is awesome.
i can't tell you how long i've been searching for these! thank you so much!
Silver Millenium is such a beautiful track. It was best used when Nephrite died.
My brother TylerDanielz actually put these together, we used them in our ep 1 of stars dub. He took piece of parts from episodes that had no speaking and put them all together. Lot of work went to them
Brandon M oh i remember that fandubbed episode. U played tux, didnt u? 😆
Phamquang Duy Yes I did aha, very good memory ;)
What dub is this you speak of? :O
@@mirthfulArtist A fandub of Sailor Stars
Thanks for the heads up.
Nephrite’s death theme still gets me in the feels to this day 😢
JB0523 it just makes me wanna cry
Beyond sad!!! Mollie crying ☹️
This is BLESSED
YOU ARE A LEGEND THANK YOU FOR DOING THIS!
I try getting into the vizmedia but I can’t I love Dic so much the music score is just so amazing
I know what ya mean.
I have spent YEARS trying to find Sadness V2. I'm glad I happened to stumble onto this.
I really appreciate this. I still think VIZ did an amazing job with their dub, but this music really set the mood for a modernized version of this 90's classic!
Idc what anyone says thank you for posting. Some of us will forever only remember this as Sailor Moon
10 Silver Millennium was something I think of on nights with a full moon. Thinking of how the Silver Millennium fell of the Moon
I love this it makes me so nostalgic
Bless you and the hard work you went through to make this. I wouldn't be who I am today if not for this show. This OST is actually much better than I remember, honestly. I'm surprised how good it is. It captures the essence of the mid 90s really well and reminds me of video game music.
2:55 i grew up with this and haven’t heard it in forever and it triggered me to cry that is how powerful the dic music is. they really should’ve brought back the og cast just uncensored it.
Like Bruce Faulconer/Nathan M. Johnson was to Dragon Ball Z, DIC/Bob Summers/Don Perry was to Sailor Moon. Their soundtracks gave these shows life.
As much as I love the new SM dub something about the old music is just so magical.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS!!!
Thanks for your work
you’re incredible
@ 2:55 when Serena is fallen in eternal sleep and she says, "Oh, Darien" and he thinks shes waken up but its just in his mind and he asks her to forgive him and kisses her.
I always remember that part with this song💔
DIC is the same company that gave us all three Sonic cartoons.
I've been searching for the BGM for Evil Tuxedo Mask from the episode: Bad Hair Day when he is in the salon chair, I liked the Spanish Guitar Melody from it.
This music is out of this world thank you so much for this
you did an amazing job with this!
The actual background music to sailor moon says?! My dreams have come true!
The sadness puts me into tears 😭
The Nega Vibes 2 music is terrifying!!!
thank you for uploading this! I was searching for Negamoon V2 @1:06, and couldn't find it anywhere but this video
Am I the only one who remembers the eyecatch music to the DiC dub, when the show would go to and come from commercial? I miss that.
This is definitely going under my favorites! Thank so much for posting
Simply put, we were cheated.
damn. childhood memories. Who remembers running home for lunch from school just to watch an episode. lol
I know that one...thankfully I was in AM kindergarten...I miss DiC's version
Wow this is gold mine! Thank you for sharing
Edited : I just got my Sailor Moon collections from ColourPop!
They said they will be Restocking them more! If you're a Big Fan of Sailor Moon!
I hear ya...DiC had it feel like you had Sailor Moon's powers too. .even if it was just for a while
Classic when sailor moon transforms I love that soundtrack so peaceful
Duuuuude I can only watch SM with this BGM. Therefore I can only watch the old English dub SM. Sorry not sorry folks. But I love this series so much. No matter how cheesy, they show a lot of love and morals in here.
I agree. DiC Sailor Moon is and forever will be magical
Good night 😴 💤🌛 🌜💫 🌛🌛🧡💖✨ 🌛💯💤😴
Alan's flute in the old dub is way better than the original Japanese one. I miss this.
Omg this made tears well up in my eyes. This dub is BEST
10:08-10:28 "Moon Healing Activation!"
Some of the music gives off a CSI or detective/investigation style theme here

More cues discovered. My video is basically obsolete
I appreciate the time and effort to those who made this compilation!
DIC... Best!BGM!Ever!!!
This sounds a LOT like music made by Noriyuki Iwadare. Even the Inner Scout Theme sounds so much like one of his many battle music themes, especially from the Grandia series.
Ahh~ Negaverse Stalking! I feel complete again. ^_^ Oh and the Pan Flute too from the brother and sister!
DIC Sailor Moon Exposed 😢
They should use the "sadness V1" music for being on hold during a call when you're trying to get connected to the doctor or whatever 😆. I remember recording on VHS tapes the episodes from Toonami as a teen 🤣
I am here for the Negaverse Attacks V3 track.
Me too, but it's not the full track unfortunately
is it sad that I can actually name which scenes and quotes the exact quotes?
I can too lmao
IAmLeon94 I've been looking for a sailor battle song, help me
Step back Mercury, it's not you I'm after!
GO BLEACH YOUR ROOTS CREEP!
This is the soundtrack to those thrills I would get when watching the show from my living room.
I love all the songs from that time my favorite one is sadness v1 it's more like the moon kingdom song and I really enjoy it think there could be a way I can get this song
ah now i knew why i could never really get into the VIZ anime even though the voice acting was good--it was the lack of this music
the music from original really made the original shine since i am a big music person
