Lyrics:
I've been wearin' my fingers down to the bone
Just pushin' your number on the telephone
I chewed up the rug, knocked a hole in the wall
But your line was busy every time I call
Remember the shots that we took last night?
Polaroid woman sure treat me right
But right now I'm down on my knees
I need your nervous release, your nervous release
I had a long hard day and now my nerves are on edge
Like I just stepped back from a window ledge
I smoked too many straights, too much caffeine
Feel like I'm burnin' bad gasoline
IBM woman, now I've got a hunch
You're too wound up from operating that punch
I'll hang up the phone, grab the keys
I need your nervous release, ah yeah
I woke up at noon, I should've stayed in bed
I checked my level, it was in the red
I swear I heard voices, there was no one around
An ice-cold shower couldn't cool me down
I used to brag about my nerves of steel
Heavy Metal woman just can't be real
Cool me down by degrees
I need your nervous release, na na na
I'm as nervous as a man could be
Full of guilt and insecurity
Too much work, man it's killing me
Like a mad dog howling through the trees
I need your nervous release, your nervous release
N-n-nervous release, n-n-nervous release
Oh baby, oh baby, oh baby, oh baby
Oh baby, oh baby oh baby oh oh baby
Yeah alright
Yeah yeah yeah
I need your nervous release
Yeah yeah
Why am I hearing this song 43 years after it came out? It absolutely rocks
One of their best. What a rocker
That's a nice 4-way pic of the band. That is bassist Tony Stevens (at "1 o'clock") there, in the black cap. Problem is: Stevens wasn't with Foghat from 1974 to 1994. Craig "ThunderFingers" MacGregor (R.I.P.) played the bass 🎸 on this song, and on the entirety of 1979's "Boogie Motel" album(!). ✅ 😌
1979 great bass line the end.
My favorite and SELDOM heard tune by them.......VERY hard rocker!!
FOGHAT......THE WHO....and THE DOOBIE BROTHERS, my 3 favorite bands!
Widespread Panic
I've not heard this song before. Is it an outtake from an early album?
+Adrian Lackey
It's from their "BOOGIE MOTEL" album.
+Motor City Man Thank you for the clarity. The fact is I was a fan about the time *Energized* was released, and was so disappointed by *Stone Blue* that I stopped caring. Shoulda hung in...
Adrian Lackey I love EASY Money Off Stone Blue!
+Motor City Man "It Hurts Me Too" is a better cut, IMO.
Adrian Lackey
Not bad but I like the high energy of Easy Money.
Reminds me a little of the tune "Nervous Release" one of my favorites!
cool ;)
