To my very surprise, there are only a few good bass-covers of this classic to be found on YT and your version is the one i like most! No BS-fills, pick & (mostly) downstrokes - totally a must here❗️There’s a bit of a fishy spot around 5:02, guess you had a slip and fixed it … but hey, that is legit!
Thanks a lot! It was my very first bass cover and I started learning to play bass like 2 months before that. It's quite amazing that this video is still among the most-watched ones on this channel :)
@@BassVSZombies Only 2 months prior to this video you started out on bass guitar? Hard to believe! I had many students over the past decades - literally NONE was able to play (like) this after just 8 weeks of starting out … Working w\ a pick alone is quite challenging …
Well, to be 100% honest, I've played bass before in the end of the 90's a little. Then I stopped, life happened, you know. And about 5 years ago I just decided to try again and I created this channel to motivate myself. My wife bought me this Jackson bass as a gift and it took me 2 months to play "Balls To The Wall" good enough to make this video. At the same time I was taking lessons from a local teacher. However, of course I didn't have to learn how to hold a pick or how to hold my left hand again, I already knew that :) So I didn't have to start from an absolute zero.
Saaaame, such an easy but yet satisfying AF riff to play . My first song I fully learnt on bass ( just started couple days ago , so far I love this song so much it's now my finger warm up song for when I try other stuff lol it's just that damn fun
I've no idea what allows some videos to get more views... Actually, I've tried to get into all that SEO thing, especially since I wasn't really new to this subject, but it just didn't work. I mean, you play a very popular song everybody have already covered and you get like 10k views. Then you cover another very popular song with just one or two covers on RUclips and get 100 views. Is there any logic behind that? :)) So I just relaxed and stopped bothering. We do it for fun after all, not for the world stardom.
Love the tone and the playing!! ATTENTION: If you are going to do a bass cover of this song... It is played WITH a pick and DOWN STROKES!!!!!!!!! Not alternate picking and NOT fingers!
Was reviewing your vid this morning and was wondering a couple things. First of all a comment: Nice effin bass. I cant find a Jackson like that anywhere, I have been looking. Questions: Can you confirm the model and year of the guitar? What soapbar pups? And lastly what are you playing into that gives the sound a nice smooth slightly compressed output? Recording into?Basically give away all your secrets right? LOL. Any reverb or chorus in there? Anyway bet you won't that baby will ya😎lol😄
First of all thanks a lot! Secondly, I've no secrets :)) The bass is Jackson JS2 Concert Bass Snow White and I got in about 4 years ago as a gift. It's pretty cheap, actually. I don't know where you live but in Germany, it's still available here and there for like 260 euros or so. The bass is super simple, beginner level, though I've replaced all hardware for the golden one (initially it was black). Even though it's simple and cheap I'd say it's good enough. As for the sound - honestly, it was my very first cover and I had no idea :)) I just plugged to my PC through an audio interface (Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 2nd Gen). Also, I used one pedal MXR M80 Bass d.i. + and of course it made my sound a lot better. This MXR pedal is very popular though it isn't that cheap (approx. 200 euros). There was nothing more, no chorus, nothing. I still don't use much. I still play with MXR M80 + sometimes use this Mammoth bass plug-in: auroradsp.com/en/plugins/25-mammoth-the-monumental-bass-plugin.html I hope it helps :) Cheers!
Bass to the wall, man! Another excellent playing!
Nice. I want to learn this song as my band is going to do a cover of this song.
Awesome! Have fun with it, it's one of those perfect songs for doing covers: it's simple yet very groovy!
Name of the band?

Yes, i play this song on bass same as you 😉
Awesome!! Make a video!
Hey brother love your vids. Is that a JS 2 jackson?
Thank you! Yes, it's a JS 2, exactly.
@@BassVSZombies bro you got some killer tone! What amp were you blowing thru?
If my memory serves me right I didn't have any pedals back then, so... it was just a new bass + a new set of strings :)
@@BassVSZombies i found the same model for $150 used. Thinking about buying it now after hearing your vids.
It's nice cheap bass. You'll probably want to change the tuners sooner or later.
👍👍👊👊✌✌👌👌
