Great video Andy, I used to remember when the CIS tower was the biggest building in town ! I’m flying more in the city as I’ve just bought a mini 3 pro. Still got the M2P but became a bit disillusioned with all the flight restrictions. If you’re looking for another location Pamona Wharf is a decent place especially for night video👍

Wow great footage, I used to fly my DJI Mini 2 around deansgate, but stopped after a near death crash when a flock of seagulls started attacking my drone. Have you had any issues with birds around this area?

No not had any issues with birds. Were you on the outskirts of closer into the centre?

@@droneuk I was barely central, setting off from Castlefield. May have to give it another go soon

Well last Autumn Manchester opened up its brand new 6-7 acres park called Mayfield Depot. 140 new trees, cleaned out river with bridges, wild flowers, grass areas, and children's playground. Not been myself yet but it looks nice and a much needed green space

It's an interesting question...Manchester's main urban park (Heaton Park) is 3 miles north of the city centre..a huge green area. Manchester evolved during the early industrial revolution where the main function of it's centre was to house huge mills (think of the chimney-laden images depicted by painter L S Lowry). It's only as it's wealth developed that the grand buildings came alongside Victorian civic pride and philanthropy. By then, there was little space left in the city's core to give over to parkland. There are smaller parks close to the city centre (eg Whitworth). It's a legacy of being the world's first industrial city. As mentioned though, there are plans to try to "green" pockets of the centre...but that requires real monetary commitment as land values now dictate that development is the only option. Manchester, like every city, deserves a proper civic park at it's core!
