I think my favorite boot color might actually be grey? I don't love black boots (too serious) and brown, well, doesn't work with black jeans - but grey works with black AND blue jeans which, of course, should be the number 1 and 2 casual pants a guy wears. Grey is, well, a pretty boring color, which you'd THINK would make it easy to come by, but shockingly few people offer this color for sale. These are the 8 best I could find, what would you add to the list?

Nicks has a Predator Steel color out now that looks pretty amazing.
You never fail to find a new way to cover boots...Thanks for a having a good channel and as always good information too..
appreciate that billy! i'm somehow never low on ideas
I’ve been wearing those grey Sawyers from AE all winter.
The closeups of the Storm Kudu under the lighting look spectacular.
Nicks just added a SLATE.
I'm partially colour blind so my clothing tend to be pretty dark since those are generally safer in terms of matching colours. Because of that, I only own black or dark blue pants. I used to only own black boots but recently I've started branching out to brown and now I really want to add a pair of greys since they'll go with both my black and blue pants. Such a shame that I missed the slate muleskinner Red Wings. Those grey Grant Stones look sexy as hell though.
I think it’s down to fashion. In the 1980s grey was a popular colour for footwear, at least here in the UK. New Romantics wore grey pixie boots while older men wore grey Hush Puppies. I don’t think it’s a colour that has come into fashion since. However, I notice Trickers have a number of grey boots in their current sale, if you fancy some mulled uppers.
Helm Crazy Horse Grey...it is such a beautiful pair of boots!!!!
And yes, they are my only gray pair...for now!!!!
Pulled out my grant stone grey boot. Thanks for the reminder
Hey, finally made the grey boot video! Great content as always. I really like the lighter greys so it's no surprise the Grant Stone Storm Kudu is my favorite. I just need to resole it with a commando or minilug sole.
I just got the Helm Hollis Smoke waxed suede boots and love them.
Allen Edmonds offers the Patton in Grey Kudu as well ,I own a pair and find them to be very comfortable , I also own a pair of the AE suede Hamiltons in grey , another very very comfortable pair of boots . Great presentation !
Truman Boots released a Grey Esmonda leather from Seidel on their 20 Last Upalnds Boot, its aged well. Its smooth and veiny.
Red Wing sells Iron Rangers with a rough out grey. Mine have aged well so far!
I have zero experience with them but siete leguas makes a gray Timberland pro copy that looks great
another great option is the Tasker or Garstang Stone from Lanx ( a small bootmaking outfit in the UK) using the same steads crazycow leather that Truman use, blake stitch construction with Dainite soles . made in the UK . for £240.
I've got the IR in Slate Muleskinner las year, first because I'm not to sold of the "patina"the Hawthorne Muleskinner got after use (look to me more like being puke), so I decided about the Slate Muleskinners and there are awesome, sometimes they gave some greenish undertones and sometime were true slate gray. I'm pretty happy with my IR and I definitely agree about gray boots, they are more versatile than one may think.
Thank you for the video.
Just got those recently too! Can't wait for the patina to come in, but even until it does they still look amazing.
just got some Rios of Mercedes ropers in gray waxy commander, perfect. probably my favorite gray boots are the winter smoke calf chelsea boots i got in the Viberg archive sale.
Mongrel k9 is a blundstone killer that they do in grey now, been keen to try them out myself.
I have found a lot of brands in a gray leather. My fav pair of gray boots are my Truman Smoke Ramblers. They are out of stock right not, but I’m sure they will come back in stock.
i got the RW charcoal but mine look nowhere near as dark as the ones on the clip, mine are more of a decolored brown which actually as you mentioned, pairs well with black, blue, brown and everything in between.... which is why i got them in the first place🔥
Like my grey matte captains from thursday
I have a grey RoughOut in Wolverines 1000 Miles, they are on Commando soles and the leather sucked up the indigo from my Selvedge for an awesome patina and I honestly can’t tell the difference between then my Redwing Iron Rangers when wearing them , great great boots.
I've got the same ones! The limited edition "road less travelled" 1000 mile boots
It's weird that grey's always talked about as a neutral but rarely comes up for things like boots and jeans (also really versatile!) I've had two in the past, Blundstone's vintage black lace ups (really a light grey) and some dragon scale-like ones as a teenager, but both were chunkier lasts than I've realised I like, so it'd be good to try the colour again with something new. The Onderhoud ones look great!
More expensive, but that new Nicks 1964 grey looks pretty cool.
yeah that's very new! I figure I got JK in there and theyr'e cheaper and faster than Nicks
I should be asking you the same question because i am tired of blue jeans...then I bought 5 grey denim.
Grant Stone has the Ottawa in grey kudu too.
Yes, and not just boots, but dress shoes and leather sneakers. It’s very difficult to find gray options, even though they go so well with normal and business casual.
I love my GS Diesel in storm suede. Looks a little more greyish blue than the kudu. Super versatile.
Just got mine a few days back when they FINALLY restocked them. Love them
I own the black diesels and love them. You think the grey storm kudu would fit a black leather jacket or is it more on the dressy side?
@JohnnyPlissken-xs7hq I think they would work well with black. Also, they are less dressy than the black cxl you already have. The kudu leather has a lot more ruggedness to it.
Nick, did you forget about Truman's Gray Esmonda Moc Toe?
Wow, that gray Cavalier might be my first (and last) Thursdays. Never say never I guess. 2:51
Franks has the Maxon boot in Predator steel grey
Helm boots are sudenly 175$ right now, too bad i cannot justify ANY more foot wear. (HOLD ME BACK)
I check the page and there are in normal prices 🤔 can you provide link pls? 😬
@@ANM149 code: SPECIAL40

@@ANM149 special40 is the code. Hollis boot
I bought their smoke suede boot and it's awesome.
One of my favorite pairs are my Truman kudu slate moc toes. You definitely can’t get those any longer.
I love my Red Wing 8863 Slate Gray Moc Toe boots…
yeah those are toight
Kudu from Southern Africa
Thursday Boot Scout in Ash.
Only $160. Not to mention, chukka boots are a good starting point for most boot newbies because it's the most versatile type of boot.
Nick could you do a video on monkey boots and where to find high quality ones cuz they seem hard to find
My next boots are either gonna be grey or subtle green
I have so many boots now, that I am looking into oxfords to change it up. Just picked up a pair of oakstreet shoes. Maybe a video on some killer shoes from some of these boot companies?
yo I have those oxfords!! mine in natural horsebutt. i talk about them a bit in a video next week. i definitely get the allure of nice chunky blucher type shoes
Blundstone 550s and their Chisel Toe Dress Boots.
Nicks boots 1964 Ash Gray. Just came out.
Looking to get into boots and my favorite color to wear is grey, we're should I start and I wear a US sneaker size 14
My grant stone gray kudu leather split toe Mocs are great
i just bought those boots in brown suede for my dad!
@@Stridewise the break-in is amazingly quick. To good health and great wearing for your father!
More green than gray but my favorite is Alden’s Loden Suede.
yeah there's a fair amount of green-gray out there
@Stridewise Nick Horween LOVES to make gray leather @fullgrainpodcast
Yeah but who makes boots from them as a *permanent* part of the collection!
Ron Rider often has a grey boot available, though I think he may now mostly doing MTO. Great brand either way. I have a pair in reverse nero that has lasted and lasted and lasted. Also, Atelier Amareto does grey MTO and MTM.
Rider is amazing but it's so hard for him to keep anything in stock
@@Stridewise definitely. I think it’s worth monitoring what he’s got available, though. I bought my first pair from him about 20 years ago, and they’ve held up incredibly well.
@@jgb0017 i did a video on Rider and it hasn't cracked 10k views in over 3 years haha I think I tapped out on how much I can justify investing in Rider content ruclips.net/video/uHLI9cebvLs/видео.html
Lanx shoes has six varieties of grey boots.
I only have grey boots from palladium boots......
I love my Grey Timberlands.
Good suggestion!!! I always lean on resoleable boots but should have mentioned Tims
Solovair has gray boots, and a ton of other colors
Forget the boots .At 4:33 The fit on that Blue peacoat you’re wearing looks awesome . Was that off the rack, or did you have it tailored to fit like that ? What brand is it ?
that's buzz rickson's! off the rack, fit just like the navy guys in WW1.
@@Stridewise thank you.
Let Brian the Bootmaker build you a pair of grey boots, a pair of Role Club M-42 in Shell Cordovan
sure I'll just twiddle my thumbs for two years while he makes them!!!!
@@Stridewise Or you can simply continue making your videos until then🤗
Just curious what belt do you wear with them?
Black! I wear Rose Anvil's black belt a lot actually
Truman smoke rambler are a very light grey I suppose… at lest that’s what I tell myself I don’t want to own white boots
Yeah but they aren’t mainstays of the collection
Orgin Coronado no longer available
the link's in the description dude originusa.com/products/durable-goodscoronado-whiskey-6-mini-lug-boot?variant=46185073312022
wheres your henley from?
this is a old j crew one
Thursdays boots leathers are cheap , even if from a popular tannery it will be the cheaper version , I have 2 pairs and leather isn't has good as my more pricey boots
Waxed flesh can do both.
I’m not a fan of grey boots. They look ok with black pants but that’s about it. I don’t like how they look with blue jeans. Just not my steez
Burgundy is grey for muricans
Nick, I'm surprised you referred to JK as "an upstart boot company"... started in 1996? Upstart? Was that a jab? were you born yet? Just saying.
it's more that i've only just seen people start talking about them, they've started upping their marketing and everything. you're right that was the wrong term though
Upstart is a bit of a pejorative. But I’d say it doesn’t necessarily mean new on the scene; but a disrupter, upsetting the establishment. Not knowing their place in the pecking order. So maybe not too far off?
Allen Edmonds aren't made in the US anymore, except a few models. I don't really care about made in the US, but saying they are is wrong.
They’re crap, regardless of where they are made. Much better boots out there for the price
almost all the boots and dress shoes are made in the usa, the sneakers are all imported. i visit the factory every year on my way up north for bargains and they provide alot of jobs in southern wisconson. perhaps the biggest problem is the corporate overlords have them using composite heel stacks and leather topped insoles. the quality is pretty solid on all my pairs.
@@whereRbearsTeeth they have numerous boots in the 200 to 300 dollar range many with horween leather and British dainite or its hide soles, most with cowhide leather lining. i do agree they are playing games with the prices starting of at 500 and six months later half price.
@@bobjohnson6321 The uppers are sown in the Dominican Republic and then lasted in wisconsin. Which is why they say "crafted in the US" because they legally can't say "made in the US".
I'll definitely get more on sale, though. Their EEE sizes fits me better than any other shoe or boot I've ever tried on, it's like they were made for me
@@pancakerizer methinks you are very very incorrect , I’ve toured the factory in Port Washington Wisconsin and witnessed the uppers being hand cut and assembled by hand . I am a huge fan and think you get a awesome pair of hand made boots or shoes that are Made In America ! Don’t like them ? Then don’t buy them !
Nice try, but grey doesn't sale because it doesn't match well with clothing plus it just doesn't look as good.
Grey boots look ugly to me 🤷♂️
oh well that's ok
AE has a smoking deal on Grey Hamilton's right now. Trying to pair them with a suit this summer. There is a lack of men wearing grey shoes//boots with suits.
