I have that same vac and love it. The rug is a great addition. If you buy a new one, I would try 10x12 so you could anchor under the love seat. An armless upholstered chair would look good by the desk. I have some inexpensive cord clips that are incredible and do a great job. It would be good to click cords behind the desk legs. I even use the clips for charging cables so that they are handy and not falling behind furniture.
What a lovely room. I agree that the chair/lamp/storage table in the corner "needs something," or rather, I think it doesn't really need to be there at all. Does anyone sit there all alone in the corner, when there's a more comfy reading chair in the other corner? How much seating does one room need? Perhaps the children's desk can fit there instead (with the chair?), and that way it wouldn't be in your sight line when you're enjoying a movie or the fire. That open space could be refreshing, or add a plant.
I love it but have you thought of swapping the single chair and side table to where the school desk is and that way the kids area is in the same space xxxxxxxxxx
Just food for thought…. Create a gallery wall with the smaller frames pictures that you all ready have. I think you need a couple larger pictures to match the scale of the room. I think a large mirror would be awesome by the chair on the same wall that the windows are on. Absolutely love your idea of plants. Also to elevate the room some curtains that will touch the floor. Usually the average is 96 inches. Absolutely love your refreshand living room looks amazing!!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ love to decorate!!!!
I would switch the lamp with the little storage bench, so the lamp is away from the wall, and the storage bench is on the right side of the chair. It would also make decorating that wall a bit easier as the lamp would not be right up against it and be part of the wall decorations. You could also add a few throw pillows in the colors of the rug. They are super easy to make. Ranger is definitely not a cat. All I could think as he sniffed a few areas and then plopped down was the reaction of any one of my cats over the years who would have visited every section of the new layout to take in what was different. Eventually, the cat(s) would have chosen a previous favorite spot to sit in.
My Lego Holiday Village sets stay out through the end of February! Our living room rug needs replacing but this month's home item is a new dishwasher. Maybe February.
We recently rearranged our photos we hung around our house and it made a world of difference. I felt a little closer to being an actual adult. Lol. We arranged them in categories of what they were like family, novelty, scenery, the old timey photos. It really pulled the rooms together. I've been doing well dealing with paper declutter and I'm almost finished. We also have been spending some years simplifying our life and evaluating what we really want. Right now i really want to work towards a wood stove instead of a fireplace.
The room looks so beautiful and inviting! You did such a great job, putting thought into each piece. I appreciate that you used what you have and resisted the urge to go out and buy new pieces. You are someone that so many of us relate to and you inspire us all! Thank you!
Erica, Your family room looks so nice. I like the way that you have everything set up in there. You have been a great motivation to me. I have started decluttering our house. It feels so good to get rid of things that we no longer want or use. Let someone else enjoy them!!
So lovely and cozy "after". I had to smile at your older son saying, "Look mom, I'm helping." And Ranger's quite loud flop as he lays down near the window. Your idea to pace yourself as your energy and motivation dictate is great. Better to leave it for another day than to get burned out and nothing else gets done. God bless you and your family as you enjoy your cozy space.
Thanks for inviting us into your process! I think the desk looks fine without a chair, but agree with others that tidying the cords would be a great touch!
Love the cozy look. If you have Alexa or Siri in your life, you can buy plugs for your lamps and then just say, "Alexa, turn on living room" and they'll all turn on by voice activation. Nice at night too, rather than going around turning off all the lights. When you leave the house you can just say, "Alexa, turn off all lights." Such a time saver!
Living room looks great! I had no rug in my living room over the summer, but got one before Christmas. It pulls the room together instead of individual furniture pieces floating in the room.
This video is a perfect example of flipping a room without spending money. If you’re looking for a few more ideas, I would switch the kids’ desk with the armchair to balance out the room. I also suggest using your black bench under the windows with a couple of small pillows. I love the warmth the rug brought to the room! It’s wonderful that Andy is open to your ideas. Well done!
The room looks so much better...I would move the small armchair to where the desk is and then move the desk where the standing lamp is...I would also use that chair that is already there with the desk. This way the desk and toys are all in one area and the cozy conversation and "chill" area is grouped all together. Just a thought :)
Try swapping the kid’s desk into the corner with the little chair and storage stool. They could use that chair with the desk then and you’d have a place to put a plant on the desk too 🤔
Hey Erica, your lounge looks lovely and cosy the way you rearranged it and the rug adds real warmth to the space. Personally, I would put a chair with the kids desk or hide the cables underneath better, as I would find seeing them all the time distracting. Also just a suggestion, but you could try sponging the round storage container with Dawn soap and water (possibly with a little bit of oxy-clean powder dissolved into it) and letting it dry naturally to clean all the stains from it. I would also be wary of your children putting drinks on the top of that storage piece next to your sentimental bible as liquid could end up being spilt onto it.
Wonderful. We have tables and lamps at the end of all our couches and chairs. What is a comfy place to sit if you cannot have a cup of something to drink and light to read a good book by and a soft blanket to cuddle up in? If you put your couch and love seat at right angles to each, you can use one table and lamp for double duty. At the other end of the love seat can be your computer storage table so you can get into it.
16:30: did you just quote "the dude?" 😆 "this rug, I think, pulls it all together." cozy vibe. beautiful arrangement! mission accomplished. #biglebowski
Such great motivation - thank you! The room is so welcoming and gentle and ready for use - I love love love it! I also find motivation in your boundaries to what you will tackle - the living room is great but you have other things to do and the hall way will wait - life is more important 😊
I think the rug looks great even though not all the furniture is on it. It's like the rug is a container that pulls together the sofa, coffee table and toy shelves into one "thing" in the center of the larger space, to make the whole room somehow feel more simplified and relaxing. It feels right!
Stuff from desk, you can place on side of stairs going up. Every time you go up take one basket and place it in the office / closet to be dealt with later. Kind of like juggling, dealing with it a stage at a time. It doesn’t look like a ton of stuff to deal with. Feels nice to reset. I took down Christmas and put nothing back for now and it feels great and so clutter free. Happy New Year. 🎉❤🙏
I got rid of the coffee table and got two little tray tables that are basically a round metal tray and the legs fold flat. I just use those but if it’s feeling cluttered I put them away. 😊
The little benches are super cute and fit perfectly under the window. The rug is beautiful too and looks amazing! I also love the thought you put into the lighting. It really is a cozy warm room!
looks very nice. 😊😊💗💗day after Christmas, i take bright colors down, and replace with baby blue, pearl white, clear, on tree. and a few on ledge outside of door. and today i replaced those with red, pink, silver hearts. my tree is white. with white pineapple lights on a timer.
With the bench under the window and the laptop closed, the desk looks like a sofa table--totally appropriate for the room. I think you will get to used to that. The little stool by the accent chair--flip the lid back over. It will keep the lid sturdy so it won't slide off, but also gives you the full surface area under the placemat so something isn't set on the edge of the inset area and falls off. The room is lovely! I would probably cozy up with a book and hot chai and not leave the room till spring!
Love the cozy living room. My goal is a living room with no tv a place of rest and quiet. I love the idea of soft music and reading place. I am alone and your living room I feel like its a place to draw your family together, and I love it. Thanks for sharing today
LOVE THE LEGO KITS!!!!!! Idea 💡..what if you put the big arm chair behind the sofa as a reading book and put the chair without arms that is there now, under the desk? Is there a place for your desk in the homeschool dining room(so it is close for you)? And it makes me happy you are gifting yourself the joy of a living area that gives back to you instead of you always having to give to it!😉🥰
You have a decorators eye, that I would like to have. It's so very kind of you to share your progress/struggles! I thought for sure you were going to say ranger was a cozy part of your room.....
I would use the upholstered stool as a foot rest for corner seat and the high backed chair under the laptop table for the kids then the two benches can stay under the window, just a thought.
That looks great. Love a reset after Christmas! Tree and decor down and a good clean makes me feel ready to face...well the day..🤣 no really it makes me excited for spring.
Wow Érica! I’ve been following you from the beginning, love your videos you have improved so much with the clutter. It looks so cozy and warm. Beautiful!
My tree is def up still- maybe tomorrow. Haha. This was very inspiring and motivating to get my simplified living space back though. Thank you for sharing. Looking forward to more.
Your livingroom looks lovely. So peaceful. I think if you do decide to get a new rug, a 10 by 12 would work best. I,m so excited for the upcoming rooms to be featured.
Just had a new rug delivered today, it just makes such a difference, I saved for this rug, the one I had is on Facebook marketplace, Great cozy living room winter = cozy
Looks wonderful! What a difference. Just a friendly idea, if you would like the back couch cushions to be “fuller” you can get polyfill at a sewing department and the kids would probably love stuffing it into the couch cushions
I would turn the lamp shades around so the seams are in the back and you don't see them.
It's amazing how warm a rug makes a room, plus it defines the space so well.
I have that same vac and love it. The rug is a great addition. If you buy a new one, I would try 10x12 so you could anchor under the love seat. Looks great. You should turn your lampshade around so the seam faces the wall. ☺
I love that placemat hack! You could cover any little side table that you thrifted or whatever.
Looking cozy
The rug looks so good in your room! I am so glad you thought to put it in there.
I love it but have you thought of swapping the single chair and side table to where the school desk is and that way the kids area is in the same space xxxxxxxxxx

So cozy!!! Enjoy! ❤
Love it. I like your idea of using what you have. No need to purchase anything if you already have it 🐱
My Lego Holiday Village sets stay out through the end of February! Our living room rug needs replacing but this month's home item is a new dishwasher. Maybe February.
one day at a time!

oooooh I wanted to buy a new rug because now the other room feels like it needs a rug but I'm resisting!
Lovely, clean and spacious ..... some cozy cushions add to the warmth and also help to bring the room together ...just need snow out of the window :)
Erica, Your family room looks so nice. I like the way that you have everything set up in there. You have been a great motivation to me. I have started decluttering our house. It feels so good to get rid of things that we no longer want or use. Let someone else enjoy them!!
I love your warm, cozy living room. It looks ready to cozzy up with a good book and a fire in the fireplace is the icing on the cake.
YES!! I love doing that.
The rug looks great.

I used to go go go go until I crashed. Recognizing limits is hard and respecting them is hard. :)
Thanks for inviting us into your process!
I think the desk looks fine without a chair, but agree with others that tidying the cords would be a great touch!
I am going to do that!

Thanks for always keeping it real Erica!
Love how the living room turned out❤️
I love the living room! I love how the room is so warm and inviting and not cluttered. love your style and your videos!
I love the coffee table desk. You definitely don't need a separate desk with that and the convenient storage solutions
you go, girl!
Looks amazing. Cozy and functional!

oh I might try this!

Cozy 🌺🌺🌺
Good job. Looks so comfortable Warm and inviting
As always I enjoyed!
Looks great! I wouldn't put anything on the wall in the little corner by the railing. It gives a moment of rest to the eye.
oh wow love that perspective
“Living slower” wow I’m actually reading a book that’s the same as someone I watch now. Lol
I only read part but it was available at my library
Great job erika love your cozy livingroom❤

I love the addition of the rug, you’re right it really ties everything together. It’s very cozy.
The rug looks fantastic in the living room. It is very cozy.
Nice job, Erica!
Erica, your living room is beautiful. But remember it is a “living” room, give yourself some grace with the stuff. 💕💕💕
16:30: did you just quote "the dude?" 😆 "this rug, I think, pulls it all together." cozy vibe.
beautiful arrangement! mission accomplished. #biglebowski
Beautiful!
Such great motivation - thank you! The room is so welcoming and gentle and ready for use - I love love love it! I also find motivation in your boundaries to what you will tackle - the living room is great but you have other things to do and the hall way will wait - life is more important 😊
So lovely. Long curtains would look great!
I was thinking that now too since it was blocked before. I don't want to spend money just yet but long curtains would look lovely now!
The room looks lovely and so cosy for the rest of the winter 👏👏👏
I think the rug looks great even though not all the furniture is on it. It's like the rug is a container that pulls together the sofa, coffee table and toy shelves into one "thing" in the center of the larger space, to make the whole room somehow feel more simplified and relaxing. It feels right!

Feels nice to reset. I took down Christmas and put nothing back for now and it feels great and so clutter free.
Happy New Year. 🎉❤🙏
Came together nicely and great progressive awareness with the desk and habits 👍
Thanks! Certain things stand out now as complicated lol
You seem calmer now that you are learning to take time off when you need to. Hugs.
I got rid of the coffee table and got two little tray tables that are basically a round metal tray and the legs fold flat. I just use those but if it’s feeling cluttered I put them away. 😊
Wonderful changes! Much more warm and calm!
We still have our tree up lol 😂 Everything looks so nice
Love that rug in the living room. Looks so cozy
The little benches are super cute and fit perfectly under the window. The rug is beautiful too and looks amazing! I also love the thought you put into the lighting. It really is a cozy warm room!
I like the symmetry of the 2 benches under the window. The desk doesn't look strange without a chair. It just looks like a wall table.
Hi I love the little dance ..I subscribed! 😊🎶💃.
Nothing wrong with decluttering and resetting your home take your time.
Is Ranger OK? He didn't seem his usual perky self.
Love the new layout, the rug really pulls it together and makes it feel cozier. Happy New Year Erica!
looks very nice. 😊😊💗💗day after Christmas, i take bright colors down, and replace with baby blue, pearl white, clear, on tree. and a few on ledge outside of door. and today i replaced those with red, pink, silver hearts. my tree is white. with white pineapple lights on a timer.
It looks great! I would definitely call it a cozy room.
Nice focusing, congrats.
I love your lego bags!
oh me too! It's great for them to build a kit.

In the corner with the little storage bench, why not use your sentimental rocking chair that you love so much right there? :)
Definitely looks COZY...Love it
I love the new layout! It looks both cozy and warm as well as best and tidy :)
Love the cozy living room. My goal is a living room with no tv a place of rest and quiet. I love the idea of soft music and reading place. I am alone and your living room I feel like its a place to draw your family together, and I love it. Thanks for sharing today
Very nice. I love the benches under the window and the soft lighting. Very cozy.
I would declutter chair in corner. Seems awkward and will lighten up the room to have space free. Rest looks great and love the rug!
LOVE THE LEGO KITS!!!!!!
Idea 💡..what if you put the big arm chair behind the sofa as a reading book and put the chair without arms that is there now, under the desk?

And it makes me happy you are gifting yourself the joy of a living area that gives back to you instead of you always having to give to it!😉🥰
Pull the rug away from the window more and put the front feet of The other sofa on it. 💓 Also, pull that couch out from.the wall about 6".
Love the new look! I like that you are using what you have, and the rug looks perfect there! Thank you for keeping it real.
You have a decorators eye, that I would like to have. It's so very kind of you to share your progress/struggles! I thought for sure you were going to say ranger was a cozy part of your room.....
Good for you for repurposing what you have ! Looks cozy and inviting.
Very cozy space. Good job
Looks beautiful and inviting! Great job!
NICE! Definitely cosy and homey. The room arrangement is more balanced. It's also very functional. Good job👍
I would use the upholstered stool as a foot rest for corner seat and the high backed chair under the laptop table for the kids then the two benches can stay under the window, just a thought.
that will open it up even more! Thanks!
That looks great. Love a reset after Christmas! Tree and decor down and a good clean makes me feel ready to face...well the day..🤣 no really it makes me excited for spring.
The room looks great . I love the benches under the windows.
Your living room looks simply lovely!!! Can’t wait to see you what you do with other rooms in your house. Thanks for taking us along Erica
I think I'm going to tackle the dining room next. It's our school room, board game storage, and where we eat.
Wow Érica! I’ve been following you from the beginning, love your videos you have improved so much with the clutter. It looks so cozy and warm. Beautiful!
Great job, it looks awesome!
The desk looks just fine without a chair.
Nicely done, Erica. Very cozy and welcoming.
Great job looks so good
Just had a new rug delivered today, it just makes such a difference, I saved for this rug, the one I had is on Facebook marketplace,
Great cozy living room
winter = cozy
Love your cozy and beautiful home 🏡 😊
Looks cozy and warm! Nice work:)
You did a great job! I worry that the little round storage table lid is not a fully level surface upside down, but everything looks great!
Hurrah it is lovely to see you again always looking forward to hear from you 😘
happy new year!
Looks wonderful! What a difference. Just a friendly idea, if you would like the back couch cushions to be “fuller” you can get polyfill at a sewing department and the kids would probably love stuffing it into the couch cushions
This was so satisfying 😍
