I've been following the Tachibana high school marching band for almost 9 years now, for me I feel like the 2014-2015 groups of students are the best! They sound very good and dance so joyfully it makes you want to dance when you see them. They smiled a lot too, it's like they really enjoyed dancing to the music! Over the past few years, I personally feel like the marching band focused more on the music and the sound over than the dancing, like they sound great but the dance is less neat compared to their seniors a few years before them. (This is so understandable, cause it is super hard to play nice music and jump and dance simultaneously!) But sometimes I just miss seeing the students dance and smile as much as their past senior students did.🥺
Their professor is more of a perfectionist in music. They have better quality instruments now, that's why they sound so good even outdoors and parades. They have different sets of instruments used for parades and on sit-in performances. The marching and dance may have been affected because I think the marching practice hours were reduced than they were previously. Since the pandemic, there were stories that the seniors who graduated were no longer allowed to teach their juniors, like it was before. If you noticed in past videos, you can see their seniors helping the band even if they have already graduated. Lastly, their previous marching coach (coach Y) has much influence in their choreography, music arrangement, and style, and I think has the better eye for *_showmanship_* . He after all came up with the Sing3x idea, because he does not want the band to be boring. After professor Tanaka and coach Y left, what you are seeing now is the new Tachibana. 🙃

Like they are less jumpy in their parades and performances, the transitions between songs and the dance moves are a bit more awkward... I really miss the energy that they give before.🥲 Do you know why Coach Y left? That is very sad news. Hopefully, the school lets the seniors come back and help support the new students! I feel like the seniors can really teach the spirit of Tachibana!❤
The real reason is a couple of years ago the senior class leaders decided a drastic change was necessary for them to realized their goal of winning the gold medal in the all-Japan marching contest. At that time they haven't won one or even advanced to the final round since 2015. Generally, the judges of the all-Japan contest are old-school and focus more on the overall music sound quality and marching precisions. They do not get impressed by dances with difficult choreography. Also, the dances that KT was doing unless everyone was absolutely perfect, mistakes can easily happen. One year in the all-Japan finals when the band was doing a difficult routine and running full speed in circles, someone tripped and caused a whole bunch of other members to fall down as well. Obviously they didn't win gold or even silver that year and ended up with only a bronze. 🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆 As most everyone knows, the band is self-driven by the students and they come up with each year's songs list to play and choreography to dance to. The senior class leaders from two years ago happened to be all from the same junior high school so they were closed friends to begin with. When they made the major decision to do less difficult dances and concentrate more on the music, there were no pushbacks and oppositions. But you can't denied the end-results - two consecutive gold medals the past two years and I'm confident they will win a third this year. When Japanese teenagers join a school band they don't really do it just for the fun of it especially the KT members. Their ultimate goal is to win the gold medal and that's the main reason they sacrifice their personal life and practice 35 hours per week and 350 days per year in order to achieve perfection. I totally support the new KT and personally I find them just as entertaining as before. 👍👍👍👍👍👏👏👏👏👏 BTW, someone noted that the school no longer allows past graduates to come back to help tutor the students and that's not true. Just a few months ago there were videos that showed the 2021 band director and another senior leader going back and did some training. 🍊🍊🍊🍊🍊
@@hiuwingchan The reason(s) why coach Y left were never really reported. But he was a freelance coach, so he coaches several schools, including the "purple devils". Their current coach is a senior(she was the drummer in 2015) of the band, but I guess she has her own way of coaching. I think they now prioritize winning marching/non-marching contests.
@@LL-ii1dc I think there's really no problem winning the gold in the AJMC. In fact, other schools have been winning gold by just repeating the same routine and music every year. Prof. Tanaka in an article written by him also said they wanted to revolutionize the marching contest, so they do the sing3x, but its not easy convincing the judges. Btw, they are also winning medals in non-marching contests, though they have not reached the nationals. 🙂

I'm so glad the Kyoto Tachibana High School band is back to wearing white socks. The white socks represent the petals of the Tachibana blossom, which is the school's namesake. The white socks are also a symbol of the band's unity and dedication. Tachibana is a type of Mandarin tree that has a lot of importance and status in Japanese society. The blossom is a symbol of purity, hope, and new beginnings. The pale orange of the main uniform matches the orange of the Tachibana fruit. The band is nicknamed, after all, the "Orange Devils" because of their trademark orange uniform. So, the uniform is closely linked to nature. The late Professor Hisashi Hiramatsu, who founded the band in 1961, wanted the band to express their femininity (before they became coed, unfortunately) through their uniforms. He didn't want them to look like a military-style marching band. So, he chose soft, vibrant colors that were inspired by the Tachibana blossom. I think the white socks are a great way to honor the school's history and traditions. They also look really sharp in the pale orange uniform.

前田先生專業級的拍攝，小橘子們專業級的表演全程保持天使般笑容。令人賞心悅目❤。吹奏中跳來跳去是有多困難的一件事，沒學過樂器的人是無法體會的。不會喘嗎？新的一年新的編排及樂器前後分配讓人為之一亮。

京都橘は隊列が長いので、目の前のパートの音しか聞こえないのが不満でした。
しかし、演奏者にとっては、全員がソロ演奏者のように演奏しなければならず、大変だと思います。
それでも全員がしっかりと演奏していました。

遊行拿校旗其中1位是新生1年級，她是京都橘高校超級粉絲三姐妹的長女，今年美夢成真成為隊員。

How can they remember all those dance steps and memorize all that music, ecemptional!
色々な媒体で新入生部員が12人しか居ないとか、いや40人だとか騒がしいので色々な動画で確認してみました。昨日のドンタクパレードでは84人（８＋３７＋１１＋２８）がパレード行進をして12人がジャージを着て後ろからついていきました。合計96人です。翌日の海の中道でのパレードでは、先頭からDMまでで8人、パーカス前までで38人、パーカス10人、その後ろ26人＋カラーガードを抱えて付いてきているのが3人で合計85人。昨日と比べて各パート1-2名の増減はありますが、昨日居たジャージ組を加えればほぼ９６－９７人くらいですかね。119期定期演奏会の時1-3年生が２９，２９，２９人ですから、新3年、2年生が誰も辞めずに今いたら56人ですから、新1年生は40-41人と言うことになります。どうでも良いことかもしれませんが、それなりに人数がそろわないと....と思い目を凝らして数えていました。しかし、入部から2週間程度で25-26人が演奏に加わっていますので早い立ち上がりだなと頼もしくなりました。音ははっきり言って今は ”ごめんなさい”のレベルですかね。これからを大いに期待します。去年もブラスエクスポや夏のハウステンボスの頃はまだ音は良くなかったので、悲観するに及ばないと思います。応援しています、頑張って！
追加：DMのぷんちょさんバトンさばき上手ですね。中学時代もDMだったし、先代のクレタさんから極意を教えてもらったかな？クレタさんがぷんちょさんにバトンさばきを教えている動画が有りましたね。

新入生が多いので伸び代無限大という事で^_^
ホラっちゃ先輩（よゐこの音楽部）の時期がまだ良かったのではと思いますが、それぞれの代で特性ありますからね。

BTW, someone noted that the school no longer allows past graduates to come back to help tutor the students and that's not true. Just a few months ago there were videos that showed the 2021 band director and another senior leader going back and did some training. 🍊🍊🍊🍊🍊
@@hiuwingchan The reason(s) why coach Y left were never really reported. But he was a freelance coach, so he coaches several schools, including the "purple devils". Their current coach is a senior(she was the drummer in 2015) of the band, but I guess she has her own way of coaching. I think they now prioritize winning marching/non-marching contests.
@@LL-ii1dc I think there's really no problem winning the gold in the AJMC. In fact, other schools have been winning gold by just repeating the same routine and music every year. Prof. Tanaka in an article written by him also said they wanted to revolutionize the marching contest, so they do the sing3x, but its not easy convincing the judges. Btw, they are also winning medals in non-marching contests, though they have not reached the nationals. 🙂

I'm so glad the Kyoto Tachibana High School band is back to wearing white socks. The white socks represent the petals of the Tachibana blossom, which is the school's namesake. The white socks are also a symbol of the band's unity and dedication. Tachibana is a type of Mandarin tree that has a lot of importance and status in Japanese society. The blossom is a symbol of purity, hope, and new beginnings. The pale orange of the main uniform matches the orange of the Tachibana fruit. The band is nicknamed, after all, the "Orange Devils" because of their trademark orange uniform.
So, the uniform is closely linked to nature.
The late Professor Hisashi Hiramatsu, who founded the band in 1961, wanted the band to express their femininity (before they became coed, unfortunately) through their uniforms. He didn't want them to look like a military-style marching band. So, he chose soft, vibrant colors that were inspired by the Tachibana blossom.
I think the white socks are a great way to honor the school's history and traditions. They also look really sharp in the pale orange uniform.
