I haven’t had a ceremony but my school has said I’m “graduated” already. But this virus will be cured. The world will open again. Everything seems to be ripped from us because of all thats happening... everyone makes graduating seem like an awsome thing but its hard, and with walking (which i looked forward to as i had played in the band for graduation 3 years in a row) being taken its worse for all 2020 seniors. As someone who's childhood was shaped by abuse, I lost my childhood memories that were happy. I didn't think or want to survive to be 18, now I'm almost 22 and still muddling through. It does get better.

As a senior, Class of 2020 we got hit bad but if any senior is reading this, know that we will come out of this the strongest. And anyone else, cherish your high school moments, go out for ice cream with your friends, if you fail a test the world isn't over, cherish every second because it flies by.
And I wish I did that all. I ruined my highschool time by staying home, being depressed and not really hanging out with friends 😩 I'm not ready to get older....

I'm 14 years old
this August I will be a freshman in high school. I've been stressing about everything, what happens after high school, getting a job, getting a car, driving exams, college, what do I want to do with my life, will I be a disappointment to my family, will I end up loosing everyone I love, I just want to know what I want to do. The pressure is so big I've cried myself to sleep so many nights. This song is relatable on a completely different level. I want to know how to live outside of my parents house. I just want to know what to do.

It's an endless sea of opportunities that are just out of reach but I'm hesitant to grab. I just hope that I can figure things out before I graduate high school. Heyyyy it’s okay it’s okay I know it feels overwhelming and stressful and everything bad but it is so so so important that you remember that you get one life and it’s a waste to spend it worrying about the future. Right now you are where you are and that is okay, things will change but you will too. You are going to grow and learn and become the best version of yourself. And through growing all of your questions and concerns will be answered so be patient. Take your time. You are young and brave and strong and you got this. Deep breaths. Everyone who is missing your childhood hold on to it a little bit no one has to really grow up all the way hold on to the child wonder you still have left ,if you don't have an imagination then how do you expect to be a good parents if you can't imagine that you are some in danger and you kid is the knight in shining armor that is there to save you from the dragon, hold on to the wonder so you kids can have the best wonder and imagination,so they can grow and be happy and feel loved and alive ...that is what i will do for my kids they will not know the pain and sorrow I am going through and went through.

At my graduation that was able to be held since we were a class of under 10 through a live stream, we walked to this song down the hallway while each of our families stayed in a room, watching us from a live stream. To all the seniors like me, you got this, we bested this virus and stood strong. We missed a whole bunch of once in a highschool experience and we're still out there for others. I added this to my music playlist in the summer before my freshman year of college in 2020. Now four years later I listen to this in my dorm as I get ready to pack my room, graduate, and marry my fiancé. It’s crazy how 2020 really was the end of my childhood. I don’t even feel like the same person I was then. Distance makes things okay, but I remember the sorrow it brought me knowing I would never care about those friends or my teen years ever again as much as I did then. Maybe now I realize how close we all really are to being old and dying. Maybe we all just become callous.

I guess I’m the outlier here, seeing as I’m seemingly older than most in the comments but I’ll tell you this song still hasn’t stopped being relatable. I think it could represent transitioning into any new stage of life. I was suppose to be graduating with my masters degree this May. I’ve hid from the big bad world (sort of) for so many years under school and it ended earlier than it was suppose to and threw me off. Now I’m heading into a life long career and it’s scary. I just want to be small and happy again.

As a junior in highschool this actually hits pretty hard. I know seniors actually have their future right around the corner but at my school at least junior is where you actually prepare for your future and apply to colleges and what not. It's just scary because I don't know what I actually want to do now that I'm at that threshold. And it feels like I have all these expectations like I have to learn how to drive and get a job and it's just a lot. And I know that other people are going through the exact same thing and it's not a unique problem by any means but it's still highly personal and it kinda sucks.

I’m 13, and not ready for the world, terrified of most things, can’t even cry anymore for some reason, I wish I could. I would give a lot of things to just be able to cry when I was sad, but I can’t. your teen years are your best years so dont waste any time go out and hangout with friends, because memories to look back on is what matters the most, spending time with family and laughing about random stuff. the little moments matter the most im saying this because i didnt really get to enjoy being a teen due to social anxiety but please just do that because time goes fast bro

It’s weird. Just last year I was sitting listening to this song scared of the future cause I didn’t think I was ready for college. Now I’m lying in bed in my dorm room. Just finishing up my first week of classes. While it was scary, I guess I was ready. The change is, odd to say the least, but it’s what I needed. So if you are scared for the future. It’s okay to be nervous, just don’t let it hold you back from taking the next important step in your life. It’ll all work out.

So I came back to this song while I’m finishing up my first year of college. Still hits hard. Things will never feel like high school again. And that’s weird, but it’s a good weird. So much has happened in such a short amount of time. If sophomore me saw me now, they’d be absolutely shocked by how far we’ve come

I literally graduated last week, and it feels surreal...like it was only yesterday I started High School and then the pandemic hit. Feel like I everything went by too fast...I feel like I still need to be in high school. Me too. That’s the struggle of gen z and some gen y. We all had the trauma of growing up too fast and not enjoying childhood.
As a senior of 2021, it’s really true that time flies. You must live life in the present moment as much as you can. I couldn’t have imagined my senior year being spent in my bedroom staring with tired eyes into a computer screen, but that’s how it is. Even if 2022 isn’t perfect, please enjoy it however you can. We were all freshmen once, true, and we all never thought time could fly by so fast but that’s just life. We don’t know what we have until it’s gone and we really are packing boxes and removing posters. So, even if us 2020 and 2021 graduates didn’t get what we should’ve, I hope the underclassmen reading this now of any grade level remember to live. Just live and be happy. None of us want to get older, but just because time is passing by doesn’t mean we have to. You’ve got this. I believe in you. ❤️
I don't like taking this view of things, because I am excited to see where the next chapter of life takes me, but I still appreciate this song. The quiet piano line, how fast the lyrics move....it's all so symbolic, and it has such a nostalgic feel. I might be ready to get older, but I'll always remember my childhood fondly. I'm not ready to get older, but I can't wait to see where it goes. 😄

As a senior this hits hard. My area went into the “yellow phase” of this damn virus so my friends that have also quarantined the whole time and I got together yesterday and hung out outside and today my family and our neighbors had a “party”. This sucks. I haven’t heard from the school I was planning on going to on what’s happening next year.
