And also, I'm "very" interested in foraging so immensely enjoying your info on that. Please do continue. I've done a little in my own yard but have yet to venture out anywhere else. If you catch purslane at the right stage it's amazing. My fav so far.

    First, thank you for your videos! I’ll be picking up my 2023 Promaster 159 early next year and wondering about your thoughts regarding a lift and tires. I want to boondock and stay in places like you do. I’m looking at a 3 inch lift from Off Highway Van and getting All Terrain Tires. Are you using the “stock” tires on your van? Watching your videos it looks like there are times having more clearance and better traction would be beneficial. Thoughts?

    • @oneadVANtureatatime
      @oneadVANtureatatime  2 года назад

      Yes we are running All terrain tires with a snow rating. I like the Falken Wild Peak AT3 best so far. I would love a 3 inch lift! Just remember you have to go with bigger tires to get more clearance under the axel area. We are excited for you to get your van and get on the road. 👍😀😀

    "Cat", here, Guys! Although we enjoy most of the places you pick to "boondock" (the wife, Cathy, prefers the term "Freedom Camping"), our present rig is a low clearance 27 ft class A motorhome that prefers pavement and gravel to otherwise rougher roadways. We like high places camping spots like on mountain tops, ridgelines, cliffs or other high spots with a view or waterside spots like rivers, ponds, lakes or ocean! We are not fans of "green holes" in the forest? Might as well be in a motel or hotel room? Yuk! So, see if you can plan such spots for those of us who prefer such sites. Thanks for all you do and share with us! Carry on! Be safe out there!

    That definitely was an epic spot that you found! Loved the views of Mt Adams and Mt Rainier in the distance. Really enjoyed the meadow of wildflowers and chewing on the yarrow leaves. Reminded me of the numbness you get from chewing on raw hops, but with the yarrow there is a hint of menthol. As for the book, the author taught foraging classes in Texas that a close friend of mine took, which is where I learned about it. I paid about $15 for it in 2019. It might be out of print, thus the high price, which is a shame. The author has a new book that was recently released: "Foraging: Explore Nature's Bounty and Turn Your Foraged Finds Into Flavorful Feasts (Outdoor Adventure Guide)" which is much more reasonably priced and highly rated. Hopefully it's as good as the other. Carrie/Dave, I'll let you provide the link to it if you like so you can benefit from the sales.

    Roodle obviously believes that the reason you get into your hammock is to throw him his ball. I’m glad you said that water was filtered. No matter how fresh it looks, you don’t want to chance giardia. I’m glad you said you were close to Billy Bob. I’ve XC skied from there and now I know right where you were.

    Funny that Carrie thought Dave swallowed a bug. I went to Schrader Planetarium in Redding years ago to hear a talk on wild edible plants. Can't remember the speaker's name but he had written a book and taught at Shasta College. Anyway, he said there are so many toxic plants and if you don't know what you're doing it is better to eat insects to stay alive than to eat something possibly deadly. I'm gonna get one of those foraging books. Thanks, guys.

      I will definitely stick to wild edibles before bugs but will not rule them out completely 😂😂 This book is my favorite so far. I am constantly eating wild edibles on my walks and hikes now. I hope you get the book and have as much fun as I am . Take care Mike. 😀😀😀

    You guys are such a good team. You are so smart to recon the trail like that. I recently sub'd to a recovery channel, and the fellow is WAY more gracious than I feel about his customers. They seem really oblivious, and frankly, dumb. Did you guys learn the hard way, or is this because of Dave's previous Jeep "mental radar?"

    • @oneadVANtureatatime

      Yes! Our previous Jeep adventures have taught us many helpful techniques to stay out of trouble. We occasionally watch Matt’s off-road recovery channel. I would love to be doing that! Looks like a lot of fun and is rewarding to help others. 👍😀😀😀

    Loved the video but as a local, wish you wouldn’t include coordinates or directions to these spots. They’re favorite weekend getaways for some of us and Instagram/YT make access even more difficult than it would be otherwise. My wife and I have a YT channel also but never include directions to where we are. Anyhow - great video but please reconsider providing directions.

      We are going that direction as our channel grows. We have checked back on a couple of our favorite campsites and so far we haven't found any evidence of over use yet. We are keeping a close eye on this and will make the change at some point. We appreciate your concern.
