Before nomad life, we lived in Juneau and spent all our free time sea kayaking south east Alaska, it was a four day paddle to Haines, fishing and camping along the way. This video really made me homesick. Thanks for sharing.
Just a whole other level of beauty up there. That train scene was spectacular. Had to do a double take when you said 17,000 people got off those ships. Holy moly! And the side loading ferry! How cool you guys. Great video. Now we gotta run to the store for cheesecake. 🤣
I’m watching this from Skagway right now. Very good video. And yeah, the drive down to Skagway then out of Haines is absolutely epic. Scenery doesn’t get much better anywhere.
Been through Carcross, Skagway and Haines, what fun. Took our passports into Canadian Post Office locations to be stamped just for the fun of it. Enjoying your journey.
Ha…. The boys were off doing their own thing! We snuck off to see what was around the corner. We had no intentions of rolling down the hill…..BUT…. We thought why not? We may never have this opportunity again!
So glad you got to Skagway, but it is so sad that you didn't have more time there. The history there is incredible. In particular, in Dyee tyere is a graveyard for a number (70?) of men from the Gold Rush days, who died in an avalanche in Chilkoot Pass. I understand about ferry schedules, though.
More time would have been nice! I feel like we needed to spend more time in Haines as well. Alaska is So BIG! You gotta plan out zones to see, otherwise you miss things!
It’s a beautiful drive to Skagway. Did it 2009, took the fairy from Skagway to Bellingham after exploring Alaska for 3 weeks. I don’t even want to tell you the cost for an extended pickup truck, okay I’ll tell you 920 dollars 🤣 now…… I think the last time I checked 4,000? My oh my things have changed, love you guys! Have fun, so glad you made it to Alaska!
We just got back from Alaska and we basically did the reverse ferry ride on the way home. We camped right along that meadow view in Dyea than you did. Probably 2 sites away.
Great video y'all 😳🙃😳🙃 rolling down the mountain was grand and those mountains as beautiful & huge as they were-almost dwarfed by the size of the cruise ships. BEARS-oh my!! 🙏❣️❌⭕, Iris and Little One 👋🐾
My father and father in law both had bucket list destinations they never achieved. My father in law who travel extensively in Europe wanted to see Niagara Falls. We live in Maryland, it shouldn't have been so hard, but work and kids get in the way. My family and I made a point to see Niagara Falls after his death as has most of his grand-kids, all remembering his words. My Californian dad always wanted to drive to Alaska. He loved to drive. Back then it was known to eat up tires, and dad didn't want to risk it. He never drove it, but came back and forth to Maryland to see us. I don't think I will ever get to Alaska. Sorry dad. It is on my bucket list. I have 4 states I haven't visited, Alaska, Washington, Michigan and Louisiana. Who knows, maybe I will change my mind after seeing this drone footage.
They are just tires! You can buy more😃 we love van life for making us really think about material things! We just don’t have room! But spending money on trips, excursions and destinations that will be a core memory for the rest of our lives…. PRICELESS! I hope you get to mark off those 4 last states!
Conifers growing in desert terrain? What?!? Roodle serving as cheerleader for the sand dune rolls. The look he had when he realized Mom was going too, LOL.
So do you think we'll hear an announcement down the road that you're moving to Alaska? 😁!! Didn't you say awhile back that someone in your family didn't want you to go to Alaska for fear you'd stay? I can imagine you being very tempted. The best part of the hill roll was you girl's laughter!! 🤣 See you next week!! 🥰🌿♥️
Possibly! Yeah, my mom said we couldn’t come to Alaska because we wouldn’t come back😂 we are paying her off with fresh/frozen Alaska fish 🐟 It has been AMAZING! But we still don’t have the itch to slow down yet! Still so much more to see!
Good question! Start link has been working AWESOME! We are traveling with the 3rd generation Starlink and it is a bit power hungry…. We turn it off at night and conserve on cloudy days if we are not driving to recharge our batteries
+@cindywiech2675 we haven’t worried about finding gas stations… there are plenty! We haven’t had the need to carry any extra gas. We make sure to gas up when possible and try not to let our tank go below half. It might be wise to carry extra gas on the dalton or dempster highway…. We haven’t done that yet.
Well it probably wasn’t much of a savings unless you added in our time it would have taken to drive around instead of take the ferry. ⛴️ the ferry cost was $143 if I remember correctly.
+@willar1338 I cooked the prawns for Roodle…HE LOVED THEM! They were actually given to him😃 the guy catching them cooks and feeds them to his dog. class A is a bit more stress I would think 🤔
Can’t do Patreon, as they canceled two women’s rights promoters’ accounts I supported *without notice or explanation.* ☹ I don’t like the parasitical manipulation of the public such as that. Do thumbs up your videos, though, and watch every single one, because the notification bell is clicked. Your channel doesn’t seem to be suppressed to the degree of some others, so those notifications *actually* reach me. It ticks me off that such nice Californians like yourself are being materially impoverished, *deliberately.* ❤ from Lake County, California!
See everything you can! Drive those extra miles!! Who knows if you can ever come back!

@@oneadVANtureatatime one day we’ll share a camp for stories and photos.
Thanks for sharing and a truly wonderful moment when you both rolled down the dunes, proving we are all kids at heart!!!!
Absolutely!!
Just WOW. Incredible video. I’m only half way through watching. Can’t wait to see the whole thing and follow the rest of your adventures in Alaska.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Wow beautiful video. Trains, cruise ships, bears, you just can’t ask for more. What an adventure this is for you both!
We agree! It’s pretty Epic! We got some cool things coming up!

Yes! Thank you!

We would LOVE to do a road trip to Alaska!! Very cool!

Rolling down the hill was hilarious, I guess yall couldn't convince Dave to join in. Definitely a beautiful journey. Happy Trails 🐕

Beautiful when the road travels along a waterway
The scenery just gets more and more epic! I suck at backing up, so that part was nerve-wracking, LOL!
The mountains are just spectacular…. Words do not do them justice!

I absolutely love your friend 😂 And YAY you! ❤ I'm referring to rolling down the Dune! 😊
Loved this video. Smiled throughout. Especially the panel re parking on the ferry.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Wow, Wow, Wow. So cool, wish I was there. Watching From Napa, ca. 80 years old.
Oh boy oh boy can’t wait!!! Took notes, 😄
Beautiful Guys ! We were in Alaska but we did not to Skagway, next year !
We just got back from Alaska and we basically did the reverse ferry ride on the way home. We camped right along that meadow view in Dyea than you did. Probably 2 sites away.
You must be on the east side of the mountains for there to be a desert. Looks like you guys are having a blast. Keep the good stuff coming.
Yes we are
That was stunning !!! Thank you for bringing us along
Our pleasure!
Very timely video as this is the route we are taking to leave Alaska.

Thanks for sharing this amazing journey with us! I'm loving it!
You are so welcome!
Incredible video & scenery!!
The bear footage at the beginning was beautiful.
We were so excited to see him! He had no care in the world that we were even there. We were about 20-30 ft away from him
Wow! I had no idea those cruise ships were soooooo big!
I know! Didn’t the ferry look tiny!
You had to back into the ferry? That's odd! Lol. Thanks for sharing this adventure. So interesting!
Successful trip in my campervan to visit USS WISCONSIN BB-64 and fishing in Ohio, West Virginia....Bonnie Blue is working out just fine!!

He was like….what are you doing! He was very concerned about me at the bottom!
That ferry, looked like a minnow next to those cruise ships, Great videography!
Wasn’t that crazy! I thought the same thing!
I could not stop laughing with you both rolling down the hill 😂😂
It is a great memory to have! We both laughed again watching it on video!
Ferry is easiest way. Very scenic.
Another great video!!
I’m really enjoying your videos. Thanks.
I said it before and I will say it again---EPIC!

Yes! That would be incredible! Not possible while traveling with the Roodle Doodle 🐕. He would not be enjoying his time…..and we cannot have that!
Hope yall have a good Thanksgiving!
Beautiful!
So exciting thanks
I’m always sad when your videos come to an end. Can you please make them like 2 or 3 hrs! 😂.
I’ll work on that! Thanks for the best compliment 😃
Remember......this ain't no dress rehearsal! safe travels

@@oneadVANtureatatime ok like I told you about the dog thing it’s changed now you guys are ok.
I'm not sure I could have backed into the parking space on the ferry, even if I were driving a Volkswagen!
It was so tight!
How often do you find gas stations on this road? Or do you carry extra gas just to be safe?

Why do you flip your video sometimes?
It’s the dumb iPhone! If I don’t catch it before I import the footage into my video editor I can’t fix it.
Rollin' rollin' rollin'! I'd get dizzier!
Ha…. I was a bit dizzy at the bottom…. That’s why Roodle was so intent on checking on me! He has a 6th sense about things like that.
