I grew up believing the house was full of rattlesnakes after the owner was raped and died, Well that was I was told when I was a kid.

I wouldn’t be surprised if they were lying about the tunnel to City Hall. I have it on good authority that there is a tunnel for the mayor to escape that goes from City Hall to the national guard base at Papago park. This castle lines up pretty well with where that tunnel would be.

We drove past it everyday when I was a boy from Tempe to school in Phoenix, I remember well hearing the "different drum" ronstadt song, and 'stockyard restaurant.'
They had beautiful peacocks, and once went for an egg hunt on the grounds.

I don't know why they continue to televise such complete horseshit... tovrea died without a will and testament. His wife inherited hid wealth. She gave each of HIS 3 children a questionable amount of cash, (considering her new fortune) and they were forced out of the castle where she continued to live with HER biological daughter. Well... someone crept down the dark hallway to her dim-lit bedroom where she slept, extended a loaded .22 caliber pistol inches from her face. And pulls the trigger 5 times. Intruder knew the Iayout, was familiar with the home. They knew the only window pane not wired into the alarm system was in the kitchen and was in fact their unforced entry. No tovreas kids didn't do it. But they say it was his son's friend that did. He's still in prison I don't know why these bs shows make it seem hundreds of years ago lol...

You're story isn't much better. E.A. Tovre's wife, Della died of illness. His son Ed Junior, married Jeanne, his second wife in 1973, over the objection of his three children from a previous marriage. When Ed died, he had a will and left $200,000 to each of his children with instructions it be doled out $1500 a month. Jeanne inherited the bulk of the estate estimated at $8 million and continued to live in the home she had shared with Ed, though it was in Paradise Valley and was not the castle. She was murdered in her bed in that house, not the castle. Several years later a break in the case gave the police Butch Harrod, who was tried and convicted of the crime. The police were confident that the son, Hap Tovre, had instigated the murder, but Butch wouldn't admit to the murder or being hired and no evidence was found that conclusively linked Hap to the crime.

😂😂 The stockyards used to be across the street! You talk about Stink! I moved from west Tex panhandle in ‘61 to Tempe! Nothing between us and the cows but the dry Salt River. Stink like hell. Lots of ticks around. Always had to check dogs. And 707’s flew directly over the house landing and taking off! I could see the tire treads clearly. You want to talk about loud! Probably why Im deaf now. 11 yr old then, now 74. And oh yea! The weird castle on the hill! Always wanted to check it out. But it stunk and was loud! 😂😂

In the late 1800's, there was a Tovrea in Bisbee, a butcher, meat packer. Related?
