I am honestly mind blown by this school I found out about today located in Jaisalmer! The school is called “Rajkumari Ratnavati Girls" school also called “Gyaan Centre! It’s not only a school giving girls an opportunity for quality education but it is also an architectural marvel!
The whole building idea is local and funded by princess Ratnavali and her family.. This is why local artisans are employed... Foreigner architect and educational Ngo brought for expertise
even old Parliament building is copied from the round temple we have in MP
The princess's Family even brought Sabyaschi to design the uniforms
This is a much needed building, so different from the frankly ugly buildings in cities across India. Very innovative and a wonderful initiative! Hope to see more in India!
It's an architectural idea stolen from the gay Apple building in USA. So nothing new.

It has much to do with vernacular building concepts for arid regions as opposed to apply hq. Materials with low albedo, minimal building width for cross ventilation, central courtyard as main workspace.etc

Well cause we Indian studying Western structure, agriculture and Westerner and other Asians find Indian architecture, agriculture fascinating. Its eco friendly nature make them do research on it.
Bcoz no institute teaches traditional architecture. What she designed is the learning from Iranian architecture in her graduation.

This isn't western design it was also available in ancient Indian architecture as in Jantar Mantar.

Now we know why all forts in India used sandstone. Indian temples also use marble or red sandstone flooring for auto cooling effects. I always wondered how they used to survive Indian summers living in those forts and palaces!

Only sandstones and redstone were available in that place
To begin with it wasn't that hot it is today as per my mom. We really had perfect seasons unlike summer part 1 few rains during summer 2 and then few days of cold wave during summer 3 that we have now. And yes the houses were built to keep cool during warm temps and warm during winters. It seems they didn't even have mosquitoes and flies back then. And used well water for domestic purposes and lake water for drinking. This was in 1960s and early 70s.
If the wall is thick, the house will remain cool in summers, it not only about stones, I visited my village where people have kachcha makan and they are far comfortable than brick once.
@@radhikajujjavarapu6971 even brick house is much cooler than concrete house. Height of the ceilings have gone down, people use concrete. In villages people never used fan or ac but had much cooler temp inside the house coz old ceilings were much taller ceiling and or it was not made of concrete.
When local rulers fund and make project then magic happens... This design is inspired from Jaisalmer havilies and project is funded by Princess Ratnavali and her family
They even brought Fashion designer Sabyaschi to design uniform for girls

I don't think we need a school in middle of desert, they just build a school, if government wants to do it in middle of city or village would be best place to do so.

Always been mesmerised by it. Also little unknown fact, the dress is made by one and only Sabyasachi (celeb designer). Dress is like a breath of fresh air from regular copy paste of every other school. Comfortable to wear and looks absolutely lovely on those girls ❤
This goes on to show what all is possible with right intent. Imagine what more could be done if gov gets involved with right motive.
