I talk to my son on Discord and if I see the grey offline indicator on for a few days, I get worried too. I understand how your dad felt when you are in an opposite time zone, you look for small signs of life.
Omg i have never seen that many animals at once in India 🤣 cows like dogs sitting in the streets watching everything, so wild this place , cute playful goat at the begining 😁 he just wanted to play lol
That run for your life, though. Such a raw and fun part of this video. Navigating Jaisalmer is like being part of a living fairy tale - one where the palaces have more history than a library, and the only genie you're likely to find is the one granting wishes for more chai.
Looks really nice like a movie set. Only thing is its hazardous to walk, need 360 deg vision at the same time eyes looking down for ditches, holes in the road, motorcycles, autos, cows, goats, dogs. How are you vlogging with all hazards.
That huge cow sitting on the road with its legs stretched out, nerve wrecking watching motorcycles going around it, looked like they are going to run over its legs.😮
21:42 feeling guilty for not giving him some rupees.. that's okay! They get enough subsidy from central govt now. free rice, oil, pulses and sugar/salt every month and state & central govt combined monetary benefit minimum of 3000/- directly into the bank account.
Gabe - Enjoying this series greatly! A question about India generally based upon your two years there: If you were making a 'where-to-go' recommendation to a first time visitor to India who has no more than 12 days to spend, what do you suggest? I know the typical first visit is often Delhi, Agra and Jaipur but would you recommend something else? I know in the past you have said you don't love the 'mega cities' so would Delhi and/or Mumbai even be on your list. Thanks.
I would recommend Delhi, Agra, Orchha, Haridwar and Rishikesh. Forget Jaipur. Only spend 2-3 nights in Delhi and 2 nights max in Agra or maybe just visit for the day. Orchha, Rishikesh and Haridwar will give you the smaller town experience. Plan to spend the most amount of time in Rishikesh, 3-5 days. If you look on a map they're all in line. Problem is if you fly into Delhi you have to go down to Orchha and then get back up to Rishikesh and then back down to Delhi to catch your flight out. But it will be worth it. You might also consider Khajuraho, near Orchha. Perhaps skip either Rishikesh or Orchha so you don't have to retrace your steps, but definitely try to go to at least one.
Gabriel - Thank you for your answer and being so quick. If any other frequent India visitors who are watching Gabe's videos have any thoughts on where to send the first-time visitor, would love to hear it. Thanks in advance.@@GabrielTravelerVideos
@@stevenlapidus2902 Hampi is my favourite place in India but it's in the southern state of Karnataka. It was the capital of the Vijayanagara empire (from 12the to 16th century I think) and was supposedly the largest/most developed city in the world at the time. It's like an open air museum spread over several kilometers, full of ruins from that time. You'll have to take a flight to Bangalore and then a train/bus to Hampi. Since you have only 12 days, it would be better to explore one region in India, say the north. Gabriel has several videos on Hampi which you might want to check.
Delhi to Gwalior, Khajuraho, Orchha, and Jhansi route is very popular among foreigners visiting India and it is very interesting and beautiful. But one should visit in winter or it gets very hot there. In summer, it's better to visit somewhere in the hills like Shimla, Manali, Palampur. Mostly though, one should first decide what one would like to see... mountain area, rocky plateau area, ancient ruins, temples, beaches, wildlife, adventure...
Surprised you're not using the traditional maps from before to navigate in case you're lost. Especially if people don't understand where you want to go. I also understand you have to use your camera in one hand and that doesn't make it easier.
You mean a paper map of the city? I can't imagine where you would find one in India. Not necessary anyway, you can't really get that lost and if you do, you just find the next rickshaw and ask them to take you back to your hotel. ✌️
@@GabrielTravelerVideos Yes, a paper map makes it a always a bit nostalgic but I get your point. Also not convenient in your case as a world traveler to take everywhere a paper map. You would carry an extra luggage. Sorry being a bit of an old school guy.
Imagine living there next to the road...honk honk 24hours long. Also the people on the ground selling vegtebles with motorcycles/scooters passing by must be so unhealty for the vegtebles and people. I wonder if it will change in let's say 20 years from now with electric motorcycles/scooters. It's not a easy change in a country like India/ so many people needfs a lot of electricity. PD best moment! Aiaiaiaiai....Plan B hahaha!
There are fruit and veg besides other groceries sold in the open by the road (including the farmer’s market)in the UK and elsewhere. Also, there are residential homes above shops by the busy roads with 24/7 traffic in the UK. At least, those veg are not contaminated by chemical preservatives, gmo and such.
Thank you bringing back my own memories from Jaisalmer. I was there last week, the views from the fort are great. I found a restaurant called "Little Tibet" with a rooftop view all to myself. They sold momos and thukpa soup which were really good too.
India is distracting - imagine! 😂 Women’s traditional dress is gorgeous - especially in Rajasthan. So tragic what they endure. I hope you will find that lady by the store that supports them and if not buy something, then share it with us so we can support them. I buy deodorant from a similar business. It smells like incense. Soooo nice!
There are plenty of Rajasthan based online stores that come up with the same story, you just have to do a search to look for them so you can easily support them that way if you really want to.
A tourist helps them simply by coming and staying and spending money. There is no need to go out of one's way to support anyone. One should buy only what they want to buy.
Why is Jaisalmer so filthy, even for India? Garbage on the streets, overflowing open drains, littering everywhere (even inside the fort). There is so much potential in this place and I want to go there but the filth everywhere will mean that exploring will be a headache, not fun.
Hi Gabriel, it's very confusing getting around the city of Jaisalmer, you're better off getting a rickshaw ride, they have better knowledge of the city you may just end up in a place you didn't expect. There's no doubt traveling is such an adventure it can be euphoric or nerve-racking a place like India with such crowds can be a distraction these have such high energy with so many motorbikes moving around simultaneously.
You miss the point of these vlogs. Gabriel walks everywhere, especially where motorized travel cannot access. He takes us to places only intrepid travellers go and interacts with local people as a friend. That is what makes his vlogs so special.
